    • RE: The 100: The Mush

@Admiral Its nice to finally have my initial predictions and warnings validated. 🙂

@Sunny The breakneck pace that was implemented in the start was because Wife of the duo wanted SO BAD to have her Grounder PC that everything got shoehorned and railroaded towards getting the Grounders open. They claimed it 'could have gone either way'... but it was really more like TR's 'there's a chance the apocalypse will happen!' in that things would have had to go WAY south for it to happen that way, despite many of the PC's at the time being all for hunting down and raiding the Grounders and wanting revenge or retribution for so and so being captured or hurt by the Grounders. I'm betting it was relatively the same thing for Adult PC's and Mountain Men (if they got that far).

And now, to all those that nay-sayed me when I said this is exactly what was going on, and was told I was overreacting and that things were fine and it was just me (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back before Grounder PCs were even allowed!)....

      I TOLD YOU SO!

      Ahhhhhhhhh, that feels better.

@Ganymede I have two human larva, of the teenaged male variety. They tromp about in huge shoes and make lots of noise and take up HIS SPACE... going by how scaredy cat the tabby is, I should probably never see him. Instead, my youngest's under-the-bed has become his backup 'safe space' and he will actually allow the oldest larva to touch him. And again, I credit the female calico. She's helped mellow him out ALOT.

    • RE: The Cat Thread

I currently have two cats, one is definitely older than the other and by all rights should be terrified of absolutely everything. Male orange tabby, he was a stray we took in during hurricane season about 7 years ago. He has right hip damage that suggests he was either kicked or hit by something as a young cat and it was never properly set so healed 'off'. He is afraid of shoes, shirts, feet, noises (laughter has been known to send him running), his own body noises (he once farted in his sleep, loud enough that it won't him up and sent him tearing through the house, crashing into things, before finally hiding under the bed for about 6 hours), rain, people, etc. This is a cat that for the first three years we had him, would pee in the closet if strange people came into the house just so that he wouldn't have to go downstairs to use his litter box.

Then we ended up getting a calico female from the shelter. She's probably 3-4 years younger than him, has asthma, and is very loving and active. She makes strange noises often (wheezing from her asthma) that by all right SHOULD send the older cat into flee mode. However, instead, she has slowly but surely helped to socialize him. He's still skittish (probably always will be), but he no longer jumps at shadows or his own noises, and he'll even sit with us and purr these days. I can change my shirt and not have him act like the world is ending. He's even joining the morning cacophony for breakfast and lets us know when the food dish is less than full!

Sometimes a scared cat is a scared cat... but sometimes having another cat can help them mellow out.

    • RE: The Cat Thread

There was an article that popped up on my FB yesterday. Someone working for an airline was talking about the different things that happen with the dudes that are on the ground and loading luggage, etc. One of the things mentioned? The dogs will be afraid the entire time. The cats? No fucks given.

And that's the moral. Do not worry about your cat travelling. They give no fucks. You may get snubbed for a while after releasing them from their 'terrible imprisonment'... but they'll get over it. We've taken cats from Iowa to Florida, from Florida to Texas... they've never really had an issue with it.

I'm angry that people who don't even want kids seem to have no problem accidentally having all the kids in the world, but my body is fucking broken and seems to be getting worse. I feel like an evolutionary failure.

One of the reasons I am super careful regarding sexual protection, aside from STDs and STIs, is that I'm irrationally paranoid that my desire not to have kids will result in my being super fertile the one time I screw up. Because that sounds like something that would happen to me.

That said, I'm sorry. I can't imagine what it's like. I hope you figure out a way. if you do, find someone that loves kids as much as I do to drop whem off with once in a while. We return them, I promise! It's part of the reason we like them!

I can attest to this being a thing. Never wanted kids. Used protection. Two kinds, condom and pill. STILL MANAGED TO GET PREGNANT. Double bag it man, just to be extra sure.

@Vorpal We don't have to worry about Betty White. At the end of the world its gonna be Keith Richards and Betty White, drinking shots of Jack Daniels and telling dirty jokes. And Betty White will be winning.

I prefer Fable with a controller... which is strange since I like my Elder Scrolls on a mouse/keyboard.

I still remember a Darwin Award going to some bint in England who died in a car accident because she was desperately trying to feed her Tamagotchi while driving. To my knowledge, Tamagotchi was never sued over it, people just facepalmed at the idiot woman. In this case, I would imagine if anyone gets sued, it will be the idiot driver that was too busy catching pixels to pay attention.

@HorrorHound I'd be careful.. that's the Steam Controller being shown, and so far as I know, the ONLY way to get one is through Steam itself. Like, its not packaged for third party selling.

Pokestops are based on local 'vistas', special little local cultural spots, places of interest, churches, schools, etc. They're never just at a random stoplight or place. This place, as mentioned, has multiple functions, and yes, multiple special interest points. There's a butterfly garden, a plaque of a cultural point of interest, a mural, a church, a fountain that's also a memorial, a small park, etc. Those are the kinds of places that Pokestops are found at.. and a large chunk of this place is NOT meant to be open to the public. I went in and asked the priest after Sunday sermon if they minded if my son and I walked through the area, provided we were quiet and respectful and he was nice enough to say yes. But yeah, a lot of the spots aren't spots that are generally public.

Yep! I spent an hour out there once, didn't use anything more than a single incense... went from level 3 to level 9.

We have a place here, its a church and rehab center and buncha things all together... there's 9 pokestops right there, plus another one right next door and another right across the street. I just need to go half a mile to have 11 pokestops within a two block radius. XD
