    • RE: Mass Effect: Andromeda: The Thread

Not arguing any of that, I'm just saying this isn't anything new for BioWare. They've been doing it for a long time.

As for ME:A, I've on my third playthrough of it now, and I have to say there are aspects of it I like more than the original trilogy, but it's lacking in certain areas where I would call it an improvement over the first three. There are aspects where it has in some and fallen backward in others. In terms of story, I think it's the most engaging since the first one(ME3 would've had the best story until it was all botched in the end, thus ruining it).

So for now, I'm going to rate how I personally set all four games thus far.

      Story:
      ME1
      MEA
      ME3
      ME2

Combat: This is sort of a no brainer. Your combat should improve as series progresses.
      MEA
      ME3
      ME2
      ME1

      Squadmates:
      ME2(ignoring bland man Jacob)
      MEA
      ME3
      ME1

      Vehicle
      Mako
      Nomad
Hammerhead(really, who cared about this thing)

      Armor/Weapon customization
      ME3
      MEA
      ME2
      ME1

      Villian
      ME1
      ME3
      MEA
      ME2

      DLC
      ME2
      ME3
      ME1(Pinnacle Station lol)
      MEA TBD

@Sparks said in Mass Effect: Andromeda: The Thread:

(As for Dragon Age 2 being "bland and incomplete", I was told a trick that makes it so much more playable: just assume everything is due to the fact that Varric is narrating the game, and he's a wildly unreliable narrator. Enemies dropping randomly from roofs? That's Varric telling Cassandra, "And then we faced 5... no, wait, 10... or was it 20 enemies?" Every cave being the same? Varric doesn't care what the caves looked like, so he just hand-waves it by describing them more or less identically. Etc. My second playthrough was so much more fun that way.)

Many people forget that the beloved ME 1(which is still my favorite in the first trilogy)was the exact same way. Exact same looking caves, or bases or hideouts. Recycled the same three or four layouts that looked exactly the same. Enemies popping in? Happened. But people are so quick to harp on DA2 for it but completely ignore the fact the fact that ME1 did the exact same thing. It wasn't anything new.

It had always been a BioWare thing. KOTOR did it, Jade Empire did it. It wasn't really until ME2 and DA:I is where they started to stray away from that habit. Granted, ME2 was much more linear and DA:I couldn't ever strive to be what Witcher 3 had already mastered.

One thing that's been eating at me is the fact that Warp was removed from biotics. Of all the abilities that I would use most in the other games, I almost always had Warp at my disposal, felt as if there wasn't anything else that tore down armor as well. Only to get replaced by a bunch of other abilities that don't really sound appealing me.

Though, they did make Singularity much better in this game, so I can't bitch too much about it.

That's been happening to me too, but mostly because the elastic in some of my boxers are worn out since they're old as hell. But comfy, don't want to part with them yet.

Remembering that two of my favorite musicians when I was growing up died today. Heard that on that radio while coming home. Not exactly rage-inducing, but mildly depressing.

Also going to fine tune the sync with VO and mouth animations. And just fixing the overall lack of facial expression in NPC and squad mates. Granted this is all stuff they should've had when the game released, but that's dead horse by this point.

After beating the game once, I like it. No, it's not Witcher 3, and frankly, I doubt we'll see game in the near future coming close to how well done it was. A lot of people don't seem to realize that the team that made ME:A was a kind of a newbie team, though why BioWare would hand the reigns off to one of their captial IPs is beyond me. But also, it's easy to forget what a glitchy mess the first ME was, and that's still my favorite of the series.

Also, with people continually trying to compare ME:A to Witcher 3, I feel like these are a lot of people who never played Witcher 1, which was goddamn terrible in my opinion. Was the overall arc good? Maybe not as good as ME1's, but better than 3 and in some cases, better than 2. Combat is fun, probably the best combat in a ME game I've played.

If I have any gripe left, it's the fact that my Ryder is so weak in the health and shields department compared to the rest of my squad. How do I barely 630 health and 400 shields when the rest of my squad have broken the 1000 mark? Maybe that's just game balance, but that does tend to stick out to me.

    • RE: What do you WANT to play most?

I'd pay good money for a Fallout game. Preferably based somewhere around New Vegas. NCR, the Legion, the Strip, and other factions vying over control of New Vegas.

Takes me back to the Fallout game someone put together, I think around 2008 or so? Good game, wish it hadn't closed down.

Original sci fi or original fantasy, I'd also play those too. Or at least an original fantasy where my only option isn't Arx.

Also, someone mentioned Conan? Gimme gimme.

Apprently, it wasn't mail, I had to call Reyes on the vidcom. But the mission said 'mail'. If it's vid com, it should SAY vidcom.

At least I didn't lose all my progress, so there's that.

@Thenomain The quest prompt says 'check your mail' if it was a vid com notice, wouldn't it say that? Eh, I'll check it anyways, maybe I won't have to do that shit all over again.

    • RE: Mass Effect: Andromeda: The Thread

Ran into my first game-breaking bug. Game-breaking for me, in any case.

So, I do all these missions related to setting up an outpost on Kadara, and my journal tells me I need to reply to an email from Reyes. ...only there's no mail from mail from Reyes to acknowledge and continue the quest. But the quest line is telling me there is. To the point where Suvi is telling me every ten minutes that I have unread mail. Bitch, no, I don't.

Which to me, means there's a bug. And I've lost four hours of work tonight. So I have go back and do all that crap over again, HOPING that it doesn't happen again.

Apparently there's a level puzzle on one of the planets that can seriously screw your game over if you don't complete it properly. That's just what I heard. I haven't gotten there yet. I think a desert planet. Not Eos, I guess there's /another/ desert planet.

It was a tossup between Sci fi, original theme and LnL games. I just picked LnL because often enough it's both original theme and LnL game.

I want to kill every single Exile. Self-righteous fucks. Any option that fucks them over harder, I take.

Then again, on the flip side, if I can throw Tann off his throne, I'll do that too.

@Thenomain I ran into that as well. Taking down the Kett stronghold on Eos, then talking to a merc(who's the son of my favorite character from ME2 as an easter egg)congratulating for me taking it down, then a moment later that I wasn't ready to take down said stronghold. Which left me with a 'huh' kind of expression.

Raise your hand if you killed the fuck out of the Cardinal at the end of the rescue mission on Voeld.

I was really hoping to get the action prompt and I wasn't disappointed.

@Meg Can't really ever go wrong with a KangerTech kit. It's not what I use anymore, for instance the battery I still use I don't think is made anymore(Innokincell). Aspire makes good tanks.

As for juices, you could probably find a vape shop near you that makes their own, just make sure it's done with lab-tested and approved supplies. Some shops are pretty fuckin skeezy.

But if you want to go name brand? Cuttwood and Lost Arts are good brands with good flavors.
