    • RE: Incentives for Doom

People tend to be more willing to play these kind of characters if they know going into that 'hey, you're probably going to die'

It removes the disdain for PC death that many have if you go into it knowing that you're going to meet some grisly demise.

Someone told me that Stormbirds were hard.

      They ain’t hard.

      HZD is awesome.

Fuck you, yes they are hard.

They're especially hard when while fighting a Stormbird, you unknowningly stumble into an area that's being occupied by a pair of Rockbreakers. Then it becomes a nightmarish party.

@ganymede You poor thing. You don't even know the glory of taking on two Thunderjaws at once.

I remember when I would run screaming from a pair of Bellowbacks. But then I realized the glory of the Blast Sling.

...and then I ran into my first Stormbird and didn't know what rage really was in regards to this game.

Just a reminder that the first big DLC for Horizon is coming out in five days.

@admiral Mike was just salty because it was another girl that's not 11 trying to join the group.

Her brother is just a violently damaged jerk with daddy issues.

      @sunny

It was dying a slow death back in 2010, when staff decided it was a smart idea to smash three four different games together into one. I can't imagine it's much more than a pile of bleached bones nowadways.

IT , Do @monogram said in Original Sci-Fi?:

      Anyone remember OtherSpace?

I do, it was my first MUSH and taught me so many things about how a MUSH should not be run, especially after I made the mistake of agreeing to join staff and saw behind the curtain.

I feel bad for anyone who staffed on a Wes Platt game. And don't forget the trademark.

      I'm confused.

Is this about baking baked goods or just being baked in general?

    • RE: The Hockey Thread

This is my problem with hockey. Where I'm living now and where I grew there were no NFL teams.

When I was growing up, I had three choices.

Blackhawks(No, anything Chicago-related is shunned and made fun of)
Wild(my hatred for the Vikings knows no bounds, sorry Wild)
Red Wings(eh...maybe? but they were the farthest away from me of the three)

And where I'm living now, I think the closest thing to me is either the Blues or the Avalanche.

So...meh. I really want to like hockey, but not having a team to support sucks.

God, I can hear Jagr's bones creaking from here.

The guy is fucking ancient for a hockey player.

    • RE: Star Trek Theme/Setting Discussion

Throw me in a game set during the Dominion War. Paranoia about changelings. Klingons civil unrest. Rebellion on Cardassia Prime. Romulans being shady little shits.

      That's a ST game I'd play.

Edit: Or you could set a game where you play the Maquis. Smaller crews, numberous ships.

@Pondscum I checked this thread to make sure it wasn't Bruce Campbell.

I would've otherwise lost my damn mind.

    • RE: Usekh aka Branwen@Darkspires

I followed his battle that he would talk about on here and back on WORA. I admired his strength to be able to handle everything that came at him with a sense of grace. He never seemed down about it, he always seemed to accept it for what it was and fight forward despite that.

I never knew him on any place but here, but I always admired that about him.

And for the rest of us? We're all a little lesser for his passing. He will be missed.
