    • RE: RL Anger

      @admiral said in RL Anger:

      If Morgan Freeman is guilty, he should be called out on it. However, given the microscope black leaders have been under throughout the history of the US and the glee the white supremacists (alt right) show when one is caught red-handed if I was sexually harassed by Morgan Freeman I probably wouldn't report it.

      I don't know if that makes me a bad person or not. LIke I said. The truth can be multiple things.

      The thing with sexual harassment is that - and we can call it conditioning or loose morals or low standards or cultural acceptance or a million other things - sometimes what we see as sexual harassment from someone we have no interest in, we see as flirting from someone we like or admire. I hope no one jumps on that with the 'But we shouldn't!' angle, since I've already acknowledged that it's not good while accepting that it's common practice, as of today's writing.

      I'm happy to say that as time has passed, we've thickened the thin line between harmless flirting and sexual harassment, defining it more clearly as women have fought for and earned a voice in society. But no one can make the case that the line was so visible/intuitive back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and Morgan Freeman was a young man learning how to treat women (roughly the same time period, I'm pretty sure).

      Sure, if it's true (a bit of ogling, some inappropriate comments and/or touches, it's not hard to believe honestly) he deserves to be called out and given some social justice medicine to cure his bad social behaviors, but chastising an old man for bad behavior is one thing, putting him in the lineup with actual rapists is another entirely.

      It's too early for me to get deep into the race thing, but I've admitted in the past that I (quite unfairly perhaps) see most things in a racist light because my glasses aren't rose-tinted, they're the-color-of-your-skin-is-a-basis-for-murderous-hatred-so-be-on-guard-forever-tinted. So, yeah.

      Without context it seems like we're just spreading someone's sexting now. There's at least one person on MSB that could show you all a screenshot of my suggesting sexy cannibalism at them in response to a message they sent; that doesn't make me abusive, just a creep.

      Am I the only one that can't RP when their fingers are cold?

      At what point did this become a thing? Where I'm inside and my hands are so cold that they're stiff and even writing this run on sentence which has now turned into a test of my dexterity which I'm failing because of how many times I've had to pause and backspace i

      How will your community handle the members that don't admit to biases regarding sex, nationality, health, or income, but are still raging assholes? Is it still a safe space if people are snide, two-faced, or judgmental, but not based on any factors other than the other person's personality?

      The accuser shares an IP address with someone that has been found to have tried to instigate drama against this staffer in the past; the odds of that being a coincidence are slim enough that it can't be ignored.

      In today's social climate, you will always get a handful of upvotes for 'Better safe than sorry - fire them!' posts because that's the easy answer that seemingly solves the issue. Except now you're down one staffer that may well be a victim of someone's prank or vendetta.

      Also, did you lot read that Discord conversation? That was so 0-100 it was pretty much the Pornhub version of 'Let's Be A Sleazy MU Staffer'; anyone that's been staffing on one game for over a decade who is that indiscreet with a completely new player is going to have a track record a mile long with other new players, not just people who after 10 years don't like them anymore after being banned. And if that's the case and they haven't been fired yet, this is just a waste of time, don't play there.

      Then there are the comments so full of flattery and praise when they ask for an update you just don't have the heart to say you've completely lost interest in the story, so you just pretend you didn't see them.

      You're all writers here - anyone have any tips for trying to get back into a story you just don't feel connected to anymore?

      Oh good lord, no. If it says 'contains sex and violence' on the label, expect it to contain sex and violence.

      I wish. But no, if it contains sex anyone doesn't like, violence that isn't OOCly prearranged and agreed upon by all parties, and heaven forbid it mixes sex & violence together - you are bound to have a shitstorm or two because there really is no line of demarcation between IC action and OOC motive anymore, if MSB is to be taken as any indication of public sentiment.

      @Cobaltasaurus

      That's sound advice, except I tend to release my longer fics one chapter at a time - so skipping ahead wouldn't make much sense, chronologically.

      That said, I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that anything that stretches past 5K words is getting dumped; I don't keep characters, ships, or stories for very long. Except GTop because that's my mfin' bias.

      One of my favorite PCs of all time was a vampire who had adopted a teenage girl. Half of my RP was him spying on her from afar, going bowling, or fixing other PC's buildings and/or plumbing to make a buck.

      Emphasis mine; the amount of side-eye this would get in most places these days is hilariously depressing.

    • RE: Help Wanted: Adult Themed MUSH in the making

      What kind of adult themed game? What will differentiate this MU from Shangrila and other such games? Will this be a sandbox game, or will there be a theme? What sorts of rules do you have in mind as absolutes already? Age limits? Alt limits? OCs only or Licensed entities as well? Will there be email verification required? Are you sane? I only ask that last one because it takes an excess of sanity to handle the nonsense that will come your way with a sexual-content focused game & we like to know up front in this community what level of 'I got this' you've got.

      The last two "modern" games I played on prior to GH had at least one amputee on the grid. They seem to be a popular concept right now.

      Having one or two of something doesn't make it popular.

      They're popular in the broad sense, as in you'll find one or two on a lot of different games, and a lot more than one or two in certain role play communities/porn erotic fiction sites.

      My dudes and dudettes:

      If I do ALL THE COOKING then I should not also have to do the dishes.

      The exception is if I do gratuitous baking. But even then: thou shalt not be allowed a slice of cheesecake if thou doesth not place thine dishes IN THE FUCKING DISHWASHER!

      PREACH. I can't get my family to put their dishes in the sink, let alone actually scrape their leftover food off of them enough to put them in the dishwasher. And if I refuse to do the dishes in silent protest, they just order pizza. Family - can't live with them, can't kill them, either.
