d e l i v e r y.
my wallet hates it.
Groth is TECHNICALLY correct, but he's not FUNNILY correct. (Orazio was never actually put on the roster before staff picked him up as an NPC.)
Also I have @mail on Aleksei from 2016 and I'm never deleting any of them.
@Darinelle Oh, sorry, I meant to say that @mail clears out for everyone EXCEPT WHEN PUFFIN PICKS UP AN ALT because Tehom hates you.
@Darinelle @mail clears out when PCs hit the roster. (Messenger doesn't.)
I feel bad now for my joke. I'M ALEKSEI AND BERENICE. It's the least secret thing ever.
Arx doesn't have a traditional temproom system, but it does have a plotroom system that would probably be adaptable and that you'd be able to find in the public Arxcode github. It's more designed to have temporary rooms tied directly to @cal events, not just for everyday RP, but it has a whole database setup, people can desc plotrooms and make them public so others can use them for events or keep them private, etc. I'd imagine it'd be a good jumping off point, at the very least.
@Kestrel That sucks and I'm sorry.
@L-B-Heuschkel People are talking about it specifically as a room, not conflating it with having public channels. More conversation on it, including what an OOC room might offer that channels don't and vice versa, is over here.
For the people who are fond of OOC rooms, I'm curious: what benefit or functionality do they provide for you that channels don't?
I think that public channels are pretty much the superior option. I haven't seen any game hurt by not having an OOC lounge.
@mietze I am very much reminded of the amount of public naysaying that went on when Faraday first started announcing her Ares plans and development. Many of the people who called certain efforts pointless, unnecessary, or even bad can now be seen singing the praises of the system.
A lot of the times? Players have no idea what they'll actually like/enjoy on that level. People get very attached to what they're used to, good or bad.
I don't think I've been on a game with a real OOC lounge for years now and I sure haven't missed them at all.
@surreality They were mostly audible, but easily missed. Basically instances of a topic being referenced in one timeline and then again in the other, but in different ways. Like:
***=Spoilers***
I do think they were going for the gimmick purposefully, though. I have a decent ear for those sorts of things, so I had fun catching them, but I am not at all surprised that lots of people were more confused, cause we all consume media differently.
@surreality I actually really liked the little clues they gave to the timelines, but they were definitely subtle ones early on.
Omg buddy.

Hopefully that works and I don't embarrass myself.
ETA: lol well i didn't expect the spoiler to work in the quote block.
@Meg No, the original Sophie left -- what, a yearish ago?
@Pandora said in Model Policies?:

@Pandora Heck, I'd say "If anyone asks you to take it off channel, don't argue about it."
I'm cringing at the idea of most of you motherfuckers being authorized to tell anyone to shut up and that being enforced, real talk.
That's why I advocate for a separate channel for such conversations.
That's an idea. I don't know of many games that have or have needed such a thing, but I won't knock it. I don't know that advocating for a separate channel for innocuous conversations that might cause someone to feel argumentative really has a whole lot to do with 'short, clear, reasonable MUSH policies' though, again.
I've been on a few games with Politics channels specifically, and some with Adult channels for general NSFWery. I thought I'd miss the outlet for political talk at first when I got to Arx, which generally just asks people to keep stuff that fraught and prone to causing arguments off channels entirely, but honestly it's been fine. I have plenty of other places to talk politics if I want to.
