I consider it far from a requirement to read all the logs that go up for a game and follow everything that everyone else is doing, but there have been a few players I've played with over the years who absolutely delight in everyone else's stories as much as their own, who comment excitedly about new twists in your character's narrative, who actively ship your character's IC relationship, who comment on call-backs to scenes from a year ago. And those are some very special, delightful players. I still remember @skywaterblue, now retired from RP, commenting on a scene of mine back on the now-closed Second Pass years ago about how cool it was to see stuff from a year before coming back up and watching the continuity happen.

Rez because freaking FLCL is coming back and that's kind of crazy. Toonami is co-producing.

RE: Good TV
@Kanye-Qwest That's funny, because I think overall I liked S1 better. Fisk and Vanessa REALLY did it for me, and I had the opposite issue with Foggy and Karen in that I loved them with the fire of a thousand suns, along with Claire. S2 just confirmed that for me.

RE: Good TV
@Arkandel Certainly the Marvel Netflix shows are the best superhero TV happening right now, but the nature of Netflix programming almost makes it seem like an entirely different medium. Like, they're really more like extended movies or miniseries. I imagine they also have much bigger budgets available to them.
Which isn't to say that someone probably couldn't make a similar type of show in a more traditional TV setting, or that you can't make TV of that quality outside of Netflix. Not at all; we're in a Golden Age of Television. But I do think that the various variables of Daredevil's situation allow it to be more focused and tell a more cohesive story. The closest equivalent on traditional TV, IMO, is Agent Carter: totally different tone and style, obviously, but the fact that it's a shorter season run means that it's a lot tighter and more focused and avoids the issues of filler.

Looking at Roz's MU* tumblr, I've learned a few things I might try for the future. It's a good example of how to show what makes MU*ing fun, while using tumblr's reblogging nature to its advantage.
Aw. thanks! @Tez is responsible for a lot of it, and it really helps that a good number of our players have active Tumblrs themselves and like submitting stuff.

I can't even comprehend tumblr rp. Didn't they remove replies??
They use reblog chains. I don't think they ever used replies for RP.

Just, uh, prepare for the psychologically challenged. M'kay?
We are mushers aren't we kind of used to the psychologically challenged?
Not even close, in comparison.
I'm not sure which you're implying is crazier, but either way, you're probably underestimating the level of whackadoo of the other.
For real. The idea that MU* players are so much saner than the ~crazy SJWs of Tumblr~ is laughable.

RE: Where do younger folks RP these days?
I'm active on Tumblr, though I don't RP there myself. There's a big RP community there, and I feel like a lot of them would thrive in a medium more conducive to RP. (Tumblr is kind of terrible at back and forth in general.) We have a game tumblr for Transformers: Lost & Found and advertise there, among other places. We've gotten several great people through there who were mostly familiar with Tumblr RP but were happy to learn MU*. It's definitely a potential source of players, but you have to make sure you have good resources and support for players new to the medium.

@Kanye-Qwest The term gets misused prolifically, but I do think you're right given that some of the harassment is centered on religion.
And race, and sexuality.
Sexuality isn't a protected class everywhere, unfortunately, so it's state by state. I didn't see anything in the post about race-related harassment.

I came here to complain about spilling my iced coffee all over my desk first thing into the office, but then I read @Admiral's post and -- damn.

RE: Good TV
@lordbelh I can't actually reply to talk about how much of a spoiler it really is without making it really obvious what the spoiler is I feel but suffice to say that I had no idea it was going to happen at all and I think the shock of it was very intentionally meant to be a surprise.
EDIT: But thanks for redacting despite being skeptical of my reasoning.

RE: Good TV
@lordbelh Your third paragraph there is a pretty significant spoiler.

RE: Good TV
Karen is amazing and I want to marry her forever. Foggy is also amazing and I also want to marry him forever. Matt is such a mess but I still love him. All the bitching he gets he totally deserves.
While I love Matt a lot, really it's the supporting cast that I love the most in this show.
Elektra's accent is probably French, as the actress is French.

@tragedyjones Lol. I don't think I'll even get to finish tonight, because I've got scheduled scenes on two different games. @Tez and @saosmash and I watch together on Rabb.it, which is awesome.
If your scene is on BITN fuck it DD is better!
Lol. Nope, neither are on BITN.

I know that the usual complaint is people who reply all unnecessarily, but: people who don't reply all. How the fuck am I supposed to know if these ads were approved when the person approving them insists on replying to one person who is not me and who no longer works here.
They were definitely approved, I'll include that correspondence for you as an attachment.
No, there was nothing attached....
HI I AM OUT OF THE OFFICE UNTIL MARCH 28TH
I'm resisting the urge to downvote you because IT'S A JOKE ROZ IT'S FUNNY but at the same time ARGH.

Well, I can certainly see why you'd be frustrated by having to create characters using a system you're unfamiliar with, but there's no way around it. I've had the same experience say, rolling a character on a comic book MUSH a while ago... but I can't blame the game for it unless they make it unnecessarily complex or they don't give a hand with it etc.
I'm not trying to place blame on any game, not at all! I am just kvetching, fully aware that what is keeping me out of the WoD setting/games is all on me. I'm lazy, and I've never been a min/maxer, especially in RP. I care about stats/skills/perks insofar as A. they back up my character concept or B. they give me ideas for fun things to do IC. So now I feel bad because you guys are being helpful and I'm just bitching.
It does seem a little odd to lodge complaints or frustrations you have with the genre in general on an ad thread for a specific game that I don't think you've tried out yet (from my read of your posts, I could be wrong!). It's pretty natural that people would assume you're expressing frustrations about that game in particular.
