I think hitting something with a mallet could be good for my depression some days, actually.

RE: Character Playlists!
@Rinel Aureth has never been that sexually repressed in his life.

RE: Character Playlists!
@Rinel Honestly this is also how I think of him, at least a little bit. At least... pre-Faith Aureth.

RE: Arx Alts
@onigiri I apologize for every time someone makes a furniture joke at you, it was not my intention and I wasn't thinking of it at all when she got her name.

RE: Arx Alts
I've got a playlist around here somewhere, but I'm Aureth and Tikva. I used to be Pietro but I killed him.

RE: This is 2020
I want to really capitalize on the flexibility of my work schedule to make more home cooked meals. I think it will help me eat better and also maybe keep my father in the apartment upstairs from going to McDonald's so damn much.

I am having unbelievable work stress right now in a client management way and I would just really, really like if I could stop clenching my teeth.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@mietze The expectations are for self-rule and lieges aren't supposed to intervene -- the helpfile goes into this extensively. That doesn't mean there are no obligations, though-- the specific obligation a liege owes a vassal includes protection which does include from threats. Basically staff specifically constructed the theme so that lieges would not have a lot of power to come in and stomp around and make their vassals do what they say, but there's still an oath between liege and vassal that promises protection and justice in exchange for fealty.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@mietze Technically lieges do have some obligations towards their vassals as well, per the lore expectations files and the laws of Limerance. I think the ways these come about in RP are a little loose and attenuated, in part because a lot of players just don't really understand how feudalism works.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@mietze Vassals are bound to respond to a call to banners. Vassals refusing to do so has been retconned in the past because it was a way bigger deal than they realized.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
I do think it's reasonable to try and figure out what to do about the situation as it currently exists, since staff is not in a great position to be able to implement their systems while constantly buried in an action queue that never ends. I know there's lots of people who are sitting poised with their fingers over the enter key on a new action for as soon as the action freeze is off, too.
I just dunno what that would be.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
I think finding other constructive ways to "grow" your house that aren't just about making it physically bigger would be great, and I suspect that the dominion systems are going to be involved in it. I just don't know that there is a great solution for this while we continue to be on action break, pre-dominion system, with everyone and their dog grinding resources times a million.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
Players who are invested in their dominions are naturally going to want to grow them. Even when I very first started on Arx as a baby brother of a marquis, we had a goal to grow. As it happens the story went a different direction, but I think it is an extremely normal thing for players to want to do. Ambition is an IC thing for a character, and being able to build something as a character and as a player is part of why some people rp.
The dominion systems that Arx is still building are going to accommodate some of this. But I agree with @wahoo that standing in the way of someone else's progress is not a great thing to need to do as a player.

RE: Personal Agency for Personal Boundaries
I'm honestly mystified about what abuse cases we are concerned about from people using a command to indicate the need for a ftb. In my experience of ftb, the events still happen offscreen. So if I reach a point in a scene where I'm uncomfortable and I slam a button saying I need a stop, maybe you don't get to ask me why I need a stop but perhaps we still need to communicate what is being established off cam?
I agree w/Meg about staff involvement. Reporting seems necessary only if there's an issue that can't be resolved between players.
