@thesuntsar I'm really sad that it wasn't you he's looking for because that would be amazing.

RE: How to Approach (nor not) a Suspected Creep
I see a whole lot of arguing against what no one is saying on this thread.
It is fine to have a concern about a thing you observe and to check in with a person accordingly.
It is fine to play IC creepers and many of us do so.
Obviously, you don't start a crusade against a person based on some poses you didn't like without any other evidence.
Is anyone actually disagreeing with any of this?

RE: How to Approach (nor not) a Suspected Creep
I don't see any issue with checking in oocly with the player of the person who is potentially at risk of being creeped on to see if they are ok because the poses are throwing up red flags for them the way they are for you, or with intervening icly if it's IC for your character to do so, or with some combination of the above. IC is IC, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for we as players and writers to perceive what is happening and have ideas about what it could mean.
That said, I've charged in and +requested about IC/OOC creeping before on another party's behalf because we are socialized to not want to be a bother about things and many victims of grossness find reporting hard. With logs, it's still effective! Without logs it's just gossip.

RE: Holiday Recipe Exchange
@TNP That looks v similar to our family recipe for those, but our potato to onion ratio is way more potato and we've never added baking powder.

@saosmash
Knishes I made:12 ounces butter (unsalted, softened)
8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
1 cup lite sour cream
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 egg + water + salt + for egg washMixed up the above into a dough. I used a hand mixer and made a huge mess because I do not have a stand mixer. Once the mess was cleaned up, I wrapped it in seranwrap and put it in the fridge to chill overnight. Took it out the next day, let it rest for 15 mins and then rolled out until it was 1/4 of an inch thick.
For the filling:
8 medium potatoes
Approx 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon sugar
canola oil (enough to cook onions & garlic)
1/4 cup milk
salt & pepperI peeled, chopped, and boiled the potatoes, then pan-cooked the onions with the sugar and the garlic. They were pretty brown although not allll the way to caramelized. Whipped the onions and garlic with the potatoes with my hand mixer until they were pretty smooth, added milk and salt and pepper.
Then I cut the dough into squares with a pizza cutter, painted egg wash over the squares, put a dollop of filling in each one, and folded them up into a package. Once they were all packaged up I put them on a floured and pam-sprayed cookie sheet and baked them on 350 for 45 minutes.
I got the seal of grandma approval!! (Uh, and this amount of filling was about twice as much as I needed, so you could probably cut it down if you wanted to make them.)

RE: Holiday Recipe Exchange
I made knishes for the first time ever. Is this a holiday recipe? I made it on the holidays...

RE: RL Anger
I typically give to charities as opposed to panhandlers as a matter of course. I also occasionally buy soap and deodorant for the indigent prisoners in the jail in the county where I practice because they never have enough and most charities don't serve this populace (at least as far as I have noticed).
I'd rather not give cash to panhandlers either - for a number of reasons - but man this idea of moralizing about what property someone else is allowed to own or what priorities they should have is just gross.

RE: RL Anger
You do get to declare bankruptcy and exempt items of personal property. Private jet? Probably not. A smartphone? Absolutely.
Like ... are there scammers in the world obviously there are but also what.

RE: Punishments in MU*
@Thenomain What is the distinction you are trying to make between an explanation and an argument? Is an argument not essentially an explanation of a point with persuasive intention?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Rinel If it helps you feel better -- honestly I used to crack jokes with the clerk's office that I wasn't allowed to file things and only the legal assistants could because lawyers make a mess. Mostly my issues were messing up the exhibit page somehow or else accidentally stamping things upside down but 5/6 times when filing before I was solo I made SOME kind of dumbass mess. I've gotten better at checking and doublechecking my own detail work now par necessity because I am solo, but man it's a pain in the ass. Good administrative help is worth its weight in diamonds.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Rinel that sounds awful. Today is a sucky day. I had a reprieve in that the chief witness for the other side was really ill and seeking a continuance anyway so the only harm done is that I looked like an idiot in front of an argument of lawyers. The judge very kindly said that she was also confused about the courthouse change ... but lordy lordy "be physically in building at scheduled time" should not be the hard part of my job.
Best of luck with yours. Sounds to me like you need better mentoring if you were filing something for the first time ever and didn't have somebody on hand to talk to about the nitty gritty.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
today, i drove to the wrong courthouse, in the wrong city, for a hearing.

RE: Staff’s Job?
I dunno. I recognize not wanting somebody who is overeager for "power" over other players in a staff position, but enthusiasm for the work is different from enthusiasm for the position. If you don't want to staff, though, for god's sake don't staff.

RE: Why don't we have a general board game thread anyway?
Oh! Spyfall is a hoot and a half but we need to have enough people to play it. Also some members of my family are not allowed to play anymore.

RE: Why don't we have a general board game thread anyway?
@Sunny It's a great game! We're gonna buy the expansion soon for our group.

@Auspice I really enjoy Lords of Waterdeep.
Also, Tales of the Arabian Nights is super fun if you house rule away some of the ... uh, gender issues.
