Gonna finally out the old major characters. I have some WOW/SWTOR years but that's not really necessary here, I think. I usually just play one game at a time because I hyperfocus.

      Current
      Arx: Bliss (#3, I think?)
      Savage Skies: Cassandra
      Haven: Nahid

      Past
      Haven: Emilie (3.0), Samantha (4.0)
      Achaea: Selira
      Arx: Eamon

      Hi!

After quite a while out of work, for the first time ever I was offered a job mid-interview. Hopefully a launching point to get my life back on track.

So many small things I will be able to fix once I have income and insurance again.

When a player accepts their character's setbacks with grace and humor. Just excellent stuff.

IT IS NOT A BAD THING TO ASK PEOPLE TO TAKE STEPS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, FULL STOP.

IT IS WHEN LITERALLY ANY SITUATION COULD LEAD TO BEING RAPED IF YOU ARE A WOMAN AND A MAN IS STRONGER THAN YOU ARE.

And often, steps to protect can make them angry and make it more violent if it's going to go bad.

This is very much a damned if you do, damned if you don't type situation and that is not the fault of women.

    • RE: Back in my day....

Oh my god, why is complaining about this still a thing? Literally every generation says this about the one after it, it's never as bad as it's made out to be, and humans still live on. Kids are dumb and they do dumb things inspired by the dumb people around them. This isn't any new quality of children in the modern era, this is literally a thing that has been happening and complained about forever.

These exact same things were said about you and your friends when you were young.

We are experimental, experiential, thrillseeking innovative creatures with a poor understanding of our own mortality and incredibly susceptible to social pressures among our peers. This is nothing more than a quirk of our evolution, and these are always a few extreme cases that just get way too much publicity.

I've been a little slower in scenes lately and more easily distracted. Sorry, not sorry.

      Himiko

This is Himiko. Her owner was hit by a car last week and is in recovery, so she's come to live with me for a bit. Am convinced she is not actually a cat but a soot sprite.

      alt text

But she's damn cute, absolutely loves to be pet, does the most delicate murder pounces, whirrs instead of meows, chirps, and has a habit of jumping onto everything.

Other cat is very much not thrilled and has told her to take the gun, but leave the cannoli. He can deal.

    • RE: Vietnam War MUSH

As the child of a Vietnam vet, please, no, no, never, no. The only way I can see themes of that war being justifiable in a game are if you basically strip them of all real-world connotation, which a lot of sci-fi from that period did, and the heavy themes of isolation and disconnect almost need direct, constant involvement by a GM.

      Tabletop, maybe. Not MU.

The trauma of that war is still too real, it's absolutely impossible to tackle the race issue well, and the stories to be told are stories that largely amount to constantly finding out about the horrors of human existence. That's it.

As for the word salad, @Chet, please remember that jargon is not key to effective communication outside of the specialized group fluent in that jargon. If you can't explain your ideas in a clear way that people can understand, you probably don't actually have a firm grasp of your ideas.

Incidentally, this is this fucking guy.

Well then let @apos post ALL the actual data that lead them to that. Nuzzling. Yeah. Sexual harrasment. Totally. Last one. I'm not wasting my time.

(Arx can never ban me even if they tried. But I gave my word. You won't ever see me in there again. Unlike your pall cullen.)

Probably has something to do with the fact that you're a creepy stalking asshole who chases women across multiple characters of both theirs and yours and is willing to put someone's private, personal information, including name and images, up on a public forum. Neither of these behaviors is ever acceptable. Nor is asking one character for their phone number thirty times and then whining to them OOC about why they won't give it to you, which you've done multiple times to multiple different people, very recently.

That's also sexual harrassment, FYI. As is rubbing up on people.

      I repeat:

      No one wants you here.

      Go away.

(also FYI changing your name to anon did nothing, Abyssal Walker)

The fact that a whole group went and formed another board just so they could continue being really mean to people

that's not why they made it.

many people were banned. people disagreed with the choice, with the administration, and people still wanted to be in a community with those banned people. so they made a new board where they could continue that community.

how much rewriting history are we going to do today?

Let's also not forget that this woman just had what is almost assuredly the most awful night of her life, is likely still reeling from the trauma (and who knows what sort of long-term effects there might be), is having her story used in racist ways even her family is calling bullshit on, has had her consent and bodily autonomy and life ripped away from her by eight (not seven, eight) extremely cruel men -

And the response to that is "Guess you shouldn't have done drugs!"?!?!

      Get. Fucking. Real.

I just got reached out to for a project manager job that would be twice my current salary. On the one hand, I'm super intimidated and I would hate leaving this team behind, and it would probably completely kill the ability to RP at all for me.

On the other I'd be out of debt and in a house in a year.

I probably won't get it but even being considered...

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

I'm realizing I'm an extremely project oriented person. Whether that's a tangible goal in RP, telling a specific story, or getting a platinum trophy in a game, once I've decided I'm going to do something I go all out until it's done. It's my ADHD superpower, my hyperfocus going insane until I literally do 16 hour binges and tap myself to exhaustion (hi, final fantasy 7 remake).

How do I apply this to goals that will actually help my life? I want that $$$.

Yeah, so I'm a former Haven player.

This does not make you look sane. Doxxing someone is a fucking horrific thing to do, and that includes putting their Facebook profile in public and outing their real name.

Thrissac - every single claim she made was accurate, and I am willing to back them up, and have. I've warned people about you. You deserve every banning you get, including the one that I'm certain you will be getting from these forums due to this.

You are honestly one of the most terrible human beings I've ever met. You consistently stalk every female character who even remotely catches your interest, across multiple characters (including, I must note, several of mine).

I try not to have this opinion of anyone, but this hobby would be a genuinely better place if you left it and never came back. You are a fucking horrific person in this community, and you do the same shit over and over and over again. You should be ban on sight in every single game until it finally gets through your thick skull:

      No one wants you here.

      Go away.

@hobos said in Something Completely Different:

Someone who commits microaggressions against the Hispanic person in her office isn't a racist, but she does have some elements of racist behavior that she would be better off paying attention to. Someone who says that women shouldn't walk in dark alleys at night isn't a misogynist, but should probably pay attention to the fact that they're indulging in some really painful victim blaming.

This is 100% incorrect. If you engage in racist behavior, you're a racist. If you engage in misogynist behavior, you're a misogynist.

To a degree, we all are, but identifying how you are being such and working to address and mitigate these impulses is key to growing as a person.

      @Sockmonkey ***Huh?***

      click to show

I'm curious what else you wanted from a climactic battle sequence, in terms of lore payoff? We got resolution of a lot of threads last night, from Melisandre's prophecies to Theon's redemption. It didn't feel like there needed to be anything more - this was the moment everything crashed together.

Like I'm genuinely a bit baffled by the criticism that an episode that necessarily focused on action was too focused on action.
