I am so sad I can't upvote this more than once. I tried. It just made the number go down and up again.

RE: MU Things I Love
Look I love IC, but sometimes OOC is the best too.
[Laurent] Reigna: So... drinking milk from a dishonored cow... Y/N?
[Laurent] Reigna: Oathlands equivalent to a kegstand?
[Laurent] Mabelle: its like a dirty rum
[Laurent] Tyren: i would say absolutely not, I mean then you're drinking dishonored milk
[Laurent] Tyren: I wonder if dishonored milk is flavored.
[Laurent] Jael: It's bitter
[Laurent] Norwood: yes it is
[Laurent] Norwood: with dishonor
[Laurent] Reigna: It tastes like tears of shame and regret.
[Laurent] Cristoph: lol conversations I did not expect to read today
[Laurent] Cristoph: 10/10 guys
[Laurent] Norwood: you are welcome
[Laurent] Jael: We live to serve
[Laurent] Reigna bows!
[Laurent] Reigna: I bet dishonored milk makes the BEST Lycene cheese. -

RE: MU Things I Love
Today was such a goooooood day for rps.
Norwood had an opportunity to say, "Your father would be proud of you," to someone and then they rolled composure and failed it and it was just

RE: The Work Thread
If it weren't for FERPA laws I'd totally invite people.

RE: The Work Thread
They're 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade aged, though they're all doing 3rd grade material. So 8-11.

RE: The Work Thread
Happy teacher today.
I've decided my zoom meetings with my class are NOT going to be instruction based. They don't need a half-assed lesson from me with sound popping in and out and them not able to see what I'm writing. They need connection and a chance to talk to other kids. So, we're playing games. Today we did a "scavenger hunt" where they had to find something and bring it back to the computer to show. It was HILARIOUS. One of them was "Get a drink of water and drink it on camera." One boy came back, took a sip, and I said "ALL OF IT!" to which there was a sudden burst of laughing from a parent in the background with, "I TOLD YOU SO!" Another was "a family member" and we had sisters, brothers, parents (the father that did an impromptu dance for us was the best), dogs, cats - it was awesome.

I definitely feel this so hard I can't even. Mine is more anxiety, but I just crash and burn so often right now. I don't even have half the problems a lot of you are dealing with.

RE: RL things I love
My student with the worst homelife is now living with mom. Comcast is providing free internet for 60 days. She was able to get on Zoom for the first time and the room (the five girls in this group) almost exploded with joy seeing her face. I texted her other teachers too and they all jumped on to wave at her too.
It is the tiny things that will keep me sane though this.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I'm listening to a district webinar that just gives us a rundown of everyone and everything. Not required, but I hate not knowing, so I'm listening.
One of the upper management people in the school said he's hearing from non-parent type people about how they think that teachers/school staff are just sitting at home doing nothing.
And I can't even. That ranks up there with the women talking in Safeway today,
Woman 1 (no mask, but staying behind the marked lines) : "I haven't seen you lately! HI!"
Woman 2 (mask, but pulled off her face to allow easier talking) : "I know, this social distancing stuff is keeping us apart!"
W1: "It's such nonsense. Not only is it unnecessary but it's unhealthy!"
W2: "Right?"At which point I stopped listening because the rage had billowed up.

Man, I'm ON my meds and today has been one long fight with the knot in my chest where I just start sobbing at the drop of a hat because of anxiety.
I can't even imagine being without them. I'm so sorry.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
A year ago a blizzard was about to roll into Colorado, and we were facing a snow day right before state testing was to begin. I stayed up all night with anxiety of how badly they were going to do if their routine was so screwed up by a snow day.
April 20th, 2019, all Denver schools were shut down because a woman obsessed with the Columbine High School Shooting had flown into the city, bought a gun, and made threats to shoot up a Denver school because of her obsession with Columbine. I couldn't sleep that night or think straight the next day because I was terrified this woman was going to hurt someone I loved or someone else loved. The next day I cried when my kids came in and I hugged the crap out of which kids would let me (they were fifth graders, getting ready to be too cool for hugs.)
At the time I thought those two were the absolute worst thing that could happen in the month of April.
God was I fucking wrong. But this time I can't hug my kids after it is done.

RE: The Work Thread
I will say that my school district is pretty much the bomb. If I legitimately NEED something, then I can get it. Most of my classroom is "want" though. Things that fit my personality and style, new tools I want to try but am not sure I actually want to sustain, cute shit that just makes me happy (because in a typical school year I spend more time in my classroom than I do at home, so I want to be comfortable there). That's what I'll be replacing next year.

RE: Good TV
I've watched it all the way though twice, and I'm going on my third.
West Wing. I imagine for a bit we have a president who gives a fuck.
