    • RE: Spitballing for a supers Mush

Please don't interpret this as an attempt to argue with you about your decision to run Rhost or anything not Ares, but Ares is perfectly capable of running on a self hosted machine (or VM, even), though it's not as easy to set up. Is it a matter of Ares's additional requirements not being available on the host you have access to?

I'm somewhat new to the MUSH scene, but not particularly new to MU*s. I feel pretty strongly that Ares is the way of the future in terms of accessibility and growing the community's player base, with a lot of younger folks not quite being willing to learn what 'telnet' is.. 🙂

@Auspice I definitely remember TFX being a slideshow back in the DOS days, but I only gave MSFS X a whirl a few years ago when it was well past its prime. I guess I forgot!

The high end PC that I built in 2016 (i7-6700k, 1080 SC, 32GB RAM) is not exactly happy with the new Flight Simulator, woof. Judging from the recommendations, it's not super surprising, but I think I'm definitely going to want to rebuild this towards the end of 2021 when the new AMD socket is out as I had been planning.

Aw, I'm sorry. 😞 It sucks to lose a pet, even if you know it's coming.

    • RE: NOLA 2: Back in the Vieux

I'm as white as they come, but my first reaction to anyone using the word 'nubian' in a character description is that they're either trying to get a rise out of someone, or visualizing a fetish for black people. And "buff black meat" is just fucking absurd, never mind "neanderthal". I would have mashed the ban button without even giving them a chance to edit.

If I recall correctly, the experts say that you're supposed to punch 'em in the schnoz if you're needing to fight one off.

@ZombieGenesis said in What Types of Games Would People Like To See?:

For something like this(X-Files, Fringe, Etc) I would probably suggest Conspiracy X by Eden Studios. It's literally designed for this type of theme. I also think it falls in between the areas of Light Stats and Crunchy.

FS3 is probably most likely, though which version of Conspiracy X are you referring to? I assume you mean the Unisystem one rather than the GURPS one?

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

I'm staring at an ADHD self-assessment and not actually filling it out because the form is rather long and requires concentration and introspection to fill out, but when skimming it I got to a part which asks:

      • When you have a task that requires a lot of thought, how often do you avoid or delay getting started?

Unfortunately, 'right now, I'm doing that literally right now' does not seem to be an option.

Is there any interest in a game heavily inspired by paranormal/supernatural-themed media such as Control (the 2019 game, check it out if the rest of these are your thing), SCP, Fringe, X-Files, etc? It'd be heavily focused towards investigation, some sort of mysterious agency, yadda yadda yadda. Think monster of the week but with an overarching metaplot.

About 75% of the posts in this thread have me like:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvFM-M2q9D0 Edit: oh, I guess youtube videos don't embed here. It's the 'haha I do that' vine.

I should figure out a way to talk to a doctor about it without having to explain that I saw a bunch of memes about AD(H)D on an internet forum about MUSHes, what a MUSH is, why I'm interested in that, and without it seeming like I'm seeking stimulants. Probably won't end up doing that though!

    • RE: Why no Star Trek games?

I'm pretty new to MUSHing in general, but I've noticed a dire shortage of science fiction games entirely. Dozens upon dozens of L&L games, but looking for something modern, let alone something with a futuristic theme, is bound to be slim pickings.

Let's Game It Out is pretty great. I found out about him by way of Satisfactory, a game that I have put.. way too many hours into.

    • RE: Interest in Cyberpunk MU*?

I'm not intimately familiar with big-c Cyberpunk, but I've heard a few things about it that make me apprehensive about it, such as changes to your body reducing your.. humanity points, or something like that? Seems a little problematic, but potentially something that could be changed up when making it suitable for a MU*.

I've only been at it for a few months or so now, but I've been a little disappointed at the lack of futuristic settings in games that I've found advertised. They can't all be WoD and medieval settings, can they?

Hello! I hadn't actually tried posting until now, but if you're reading this, then yes, I can post. 😉 But yeah, I haven't received a confirmation email or password reset emails (as a test to see if it was any emails or just possibly confirmation emails being disabled/broken at the moment). Thanks all!
