    • I Need Career Motivation

So, here's the thing, I like code, I like learning code stuff, I actually think it's pretty fun.

But I know that the money is in straight up web development, I just can't seem to maintain steam for doing it. Like, I can work up all sorts of motivation to learn Python for game shit, or some other shit I like. But buckling down to push through with web development has been very difficult, my motivation keeps dropping like a brick.

How do I fix this? Or what is the alternative solution? I honestly don't really know what to do.

      @Meg

I haven't seen most Mel Brooks movies, though I plan to.

I don't care about Jaws because it's a movie about a shark and it doesn't even have lasers or is a ghost.

I've never seen any Indiana Jones movie.

I don't care about Avatar (the blue people), because the concept sounds boring, so I never watched it.

      I hate Inception.

I'm gonna finally change my bed sheets.

To explain, I haven't changed my bed sheets in a while. My dog died about a month ago, even as early as last night I tried to call him into my room because I forget sometimes.

I haven't been changing my sheets because I didn't want to get rid of my dog's smell, and there's little hairs and such. I know it's not healthy, but that's just how my brain has been. I still have his food and such.

But this heatwave is killing me and I'm like "These sheets are gross", so I guess the world is literally saying "Change your fucking sheets or suffer".

If nothing else, I'm pretty sure at least one of these has been used in one circle of MUing since about 2009. Started on SRT, then M3, then more MUs in that circle.

Drives me fucking nuts when I can't click shit with my mouse in other MUs, because I'm so used to it now.

What in the world is shift-ins?

Shift + Insert. They're keys. On the keyboard. Which is a board. With keys on it.

Why would someone go through all the trouble of typing shift + insert when they can ctrl + c?

I actually think Pueblo is fun, but the client is just, like, I got enough poses eaten to gain a healthy hatred of it.

These are good points that I didn't consider. That consistency of patterns rather than making things crazy and all over the goddamned place (as is typical) might be just as intuitive as simplification.

Even something as simple as taking walks every now and then, making sure to get up and do something as frequently as possible rather than making it easy to sit forever. For example, buy small bottles of water instead of one large bottle of water, if you drink bottled water. It means you have to get up more frequently to get more.

Do some easy arm exercises, you don't even have to get up, just move around a bit for like 15 minutes a day or so, get some basic cardio in without even standing. Every little bit counts.

I say this as someone who very lazily lost a ton of weight, doing little things help you at the very least maintain your weight. I haven't changed my diet dramatically since I stopped constantly eating junk food and drinking sugary drinks, so I don't lose a lot of weight unless I do a lot of drastic physical activity, what I do now mostly just keeps me from becoming huge.

The dude from Extra Credits said the same thing.

I wonder who originated the quote, or if they're the same person (I've never read The Angry GM, but heard of them).

Either way, yeah, this is advice that I think people really need to keep in mind.

I'm exploring front-end stuff more and more, since I'm pursuing it as a career. When I get better at it, I'll be happy to contribute ideas and such. And I'm using Evennia for my first MU, so I'm sure I'll have ideas.

I actually hadn't put a bag in it yet, I was opening the can -to- put a bag in it, and I wasn't sure how else to approach this other than opening the lid >__<.

But I certainly would have taken it outside first if I knew it was going to explode death into my room.

I have no idea where else to put this.

LIFEHACK: Don't open the lid of a trashcan during a heatwave in your tiny room if you're 99% sure a mouse died in it.
