I'm really curious how this applies in the case of medical marijuana. Is it still the same or, given some of the things that it's allowed for in my state are protected under the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, would this now be considered a discriminatory act?
I dunno, but I would like to.

Given that it's still federally criminal, it would not be protected under any of the ADA Clauses.

ETA: If it were federally decriminalized, your employer could probably still end up being fairly discriminatory, especially if you are around machines / vehicles / anything at all wherein the effects of marijuana could present a hazard to yourself or those around you, the same as they can with opiate / opioid substances currently.

This is pretty much exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you!

In my case, TL;DR, I have major trouble sleeping as a result of some things it's approved for the use of in my state and have never reacted well to prescription sleeping medication. Smoking up in college right before bed is pretty much the best sleep I have ever gotten in my entire life and I would very much like to have that back. Alas.

Double posting, but one more. I didn't catch this one until today, even though it was on the local NPR affiliate, until it rolled up into the national Consider This podcast yesterday afternoon.

      Oxygen for India

This is being run by several Indian doctors in the Philadelphia and New Jersey area who are buying oxygen concentrators here and shipping them over to colleagues in India that they have personally worked with or went to school with, in order to bypass bureaucracy and red-tape wherever possible.

Tracking updates are posted so that donors can see progress and apparently the Indian Embassy here in the US is covering freight charges and putting pressure on customs to fast-track them through the system.

If you're inclined to donate, this seems to be the fastest way to get supplies on the ground and in hospitals that need them that I've been able to find so far.

I definitely could not have got Crystal Springs up and running without help from Faraday. She is always very patient, especially considering that I am totally technically inept, and is always happy to help if I run into a problem. I have a lot of respect for her.

A building/house/shop/church/grave is burning/destroyed by earthquake/flooded/swallowed by a sinkhole, time is running out, do we put out the fire/let Timmy burn alive/explore ancient ruins filled with unspeakable horrors/TS.

I put out the fire by vigorously TSing on Timmy's burning corpse in the ancient ruins filled with unspeakable horrors, which I am clearly TSing.

How is this even a prompt? It's like, Tuesday. 😞

      Eyyyyyy. Resurrecting with new information.

Over the weekend I was privileged enough to get a game in with the creator of "Happiest Apocalypse on Earth". He is an avid fan of the "X CARD" and he described it in a way that clicked well with me.

He said that he finds that players often seem more likely to get grimdark (my fave!) when there IS an x-card on the table because they can do so knowing everyone has the ability to opt out at any time; that the existence of the X-card makes it more okay to make bold/daring IC decisions because theyre comfortable knowing that anyone who doesnt like it can X it.

The X card can make a player less nervous to try things.

      I really liked that.

I find it is more common for people to feel resentment or discomfort because they are projecting what they think others will think/do. So they go along with what they think others want and then feel grumpy and that leads to a cascade of other things. So like, if a scene is veering into topics they cant be part of, instead of just making a good exit and try to pick up later or just telling people that they are digging the group but things are heading into CoI or whatever they will stay and fret because they think if they leave everyone will hate them (almost never is this true).

I see more problems arise sentiment wise when someone doesnt allow themselves to be able to leave a scene politely/positively and so they stay where they are bored/uncomfortable/irritated. It is definitely a skill to be able to leave a scene well and oocly positively, I think people often feel awkward about it, and there are a lot of bad feels/perceptions of others/fretting as a result. That can feel like control on many ends.

Groups of character class/species/specialty/utility/prominence to upgrade through, in exchange for a consensual character death, when proper XP/AP is accrued? You'd need the proper type of AP judgment, however. For instance, exchanging XP for scenes would fall into the category of more face time, whereas experience with the combat system would be specialization. Or how about a system where the more you contribute to larger plots, the more you work your way up in terms of ritual importance?

Brilliant. Thank you. I wish I had some big long reply, but just thank you. I'm going to chew on it for a while. If you have any other brilliant ideas, I am all ears. 🙂

Well, the bitch of the matter here is making it in a way that scales up so you don't either burn out to a crisp trying to keep up with the requirement of all those people wanting those background tidbits to mean something or making them be some inert piece of trivia in their +bg somewhere that barely does anything for them. After all if it doesn't generate RP what good is it?

You probably want to crowdsource this shit. Like, let people pick their poison from a list ("this is what's available for you guys"). Some of them will pick individual tidbits ("sure, my PC spent two years in that ultra conservative catholic school") waiting to be paired up with others pretty much at random and others might create as a unit ("we got really drunk that one night and broke into Native American museum"). Then try to organize - but not run yourself - that unicorn of all PrP arrangements; plot trading.

Plot trading is ... hah. It's not easy. I very often see people offering but it very rarely happens. So you'd need to be on top of people, motivating them any way you can at all - XP, recognition, extra access to staff plot, anything - to run stories for each other. Basically the idea (in this context, pending further refinement) would be to give players control over another unit's metaplot; that'd include a write-up of just what it entails (what did those drunken idiots steal? what did it do to them?), some loosely defined NPCs they can use (the now-retired teacher with a worm inside their skull, the former school janitor now working for an asylum) and let them go to town. Hopefully.

Basically you can't do too much to encourage plot on this level. Player-ran plot is the only thing here that scales up, where almost everything else does not.

Running plot is a lot of work. It just takes so long and there are so many bored players around. If they take care of each other that's great, but if you need to do it for them... well, you might as well book a spot for that asylum, too. 🙂
