People froth at the mouth for alts, it's crazy.
@ZombieGenesis opened his DC game with a 1 char limit, and didn't even make it one week from opening before he got persuaded/harassed/browbeat into opening alts, if I recall correctly.
Star Wars was fucking awesome. Much better than I expected, even if the story wasn't exactly "original". They did an amazing job.
One of the inherent problems here, and why the answer is not just "moderate everything", is the fact that it is usually pretty clear that the vast majority of people who have some 'omg MSB is so terrible' complex, are also people who, at some point....
Had an argument of some sort here, and either "lost", or did something to make themselves look even worse, and rather than just realize they fucked up or accept they're not exactly an angel, they shift gears to "DOWN WITH MSB!"
I really, really have trouble believing things like @Paris's claims about "omg there are 20 players who are terrified of being harassed by some person from MSB, actually ON GAME". It sounds fake. It sounds like any generic "we're victims, so forget/ignore every bad thing we ourselves do!" cover up.
I've yet to play a MUSH where you can't literally decide when and who you RP with.
The only cases of actual, genuine stalking & harassment I've ever seen, tend to be performed by people who are ostracized from the entire community.
Cases like @Paris's are almost always grey area "he said, she said" incidents where it's pretty clear neither side is really innocent, but they make it a "ME OR THEM, PICK!" scenario and then take their ball and wander off with some "oh I have so many friends who think like me too! they think you guys are all the worst!"
That's nice.
Despite playing comic MUs, I am no comic expert. Didn't Speed/Wiccan come up in the other X-Men game thread? They aren't really X-Men characters and I don't think they've ever been broadcast as such.

The reaction to the "pre-app process" here seems odd, when meanwhile over in the Gotham game thread literally every interesting female FC in the setting has already been claimed. Like a month+ before the game opens (for the record, that actually kind of bugged me). And that didn't draw a reaction at all.
Are people just more interested in mutants?

My only real "problem" with year 1 games, is almost literally everybody winds up being 18-25. (With an emphasis on the 18-21.)
I like the idea of a like...."handwaved" year one? Like Cyclops and Jean are 30 and Xavier's and the X-men have been around, but idk, they were just doing "vague x-men shit" in the background and none of it was very serious until OMG NOW ALL THIS STUFF IS HAPPENING.
That way you get the 'teenage' mutants/etc and...Jean/Scott/Storm/etc aren't like 21.
IDK, maybe that only bugs me.

Okay. I app Illyana and Psylocke. Neither are 'starring cast members'. One's a ninja, one's a demonwitch. My friend apps Emma Frost and X-23. Okay, she got one starring cast member. One's a telepath/leader, the other's a melee murderbot.
Between the two of us, we just assfucked the number of "cool" available female FCs.
Ever since I started MUSHing, I've had a love/hate relationship with SW games. I love the idea, but never seem to last. I've never managed to stick around very long on any except a couple of the d20 SW Legacy games (or whatever it was called), and mostly because I love that game system.
Not sure I've played one set in Movie-time (it kind of has a crippling effect on character options, hate to say it but force-fu and lightsabers are the main draws of SW games for me), the d20 ones usually seemed to be set in KOTOR-esque times.
But...intrigued. Will poke at the game, thanks for posting. If Miraluka are a thing, I'll probably be forced to try and make something. (They probably aren't, alas. Extinct in movie era, iirc. Poor blind people. But, will take a peek and see what's what anyways. )
