There'd have to be some kind of 'tier' system or something. I don't know how it'd work other than eyeballing it, but like...

You can't let somebody take a 'highly sought after' character as an alt, IMO.

Like if you play Emma, your alt needs to be like...Mercury or Magma or something. ETA : I also think there'd need to be proven activity before giving an alt. Like goddamn, if you want an alt you can fucking prove you're going to play the character you already have.

Anyways. I'm totally okay with Marvel heroic as a 'reference' thing. IE you can do +sheet so and so and see their numbers and stuff for comparison. Not a fan of actually rolling stuff.

Idly, on the topic of MUDs. I've played all sorts of MUs, from no-RP levelling grindfest nonsense that's basically just a chatroom (years ago, in the beginning), to RPIs like Shadows of Isildur, to Firan, to WoD MUs, a handful of comic MUs, various anime-themed things (some Naruto MU and the SRT game), etc, etc.

For me, MUDs never really seemed to mature. The staff of MUDs always seem to be stuck in a bygone era where there's a curtain between what they're doing and what players need to know, where they're the kings of their world and god be damned if they're going to care what players they aren't buddy buddy with think. Any clique-esque problems or staff 'problems' I've encountered on MUSHes (ignoring the atrocity of Firan, anyways, which was almost more MUD than MUSH/MUX, anyways, especially in terms of its culture), I've encountered 10x worse on RP MUDs, and I can only suspect it's because they lack the openness that MUSHes tend to have. Things like OOC global channels, an ooc bboard, the page command, logs posted, awareness of who staffers play and what factions they're involved in, etc.

@emmahsue I definitely understand where you're coming from and it's a perfectly valid point, but I'm not sure people need an additional reason to not step forward and contact staff about issues.

Staff may not (and honestly should not) take your log as gospel and absolute truth without corroborating facts/context/etc, but if you don't at least try and say something about being abused, the chances of the offending party getting away with causing harm to more people drastically increases.

Guys (Arm people), just for the record, I would really not waste your time defending Arm here or w/e is going on.

The market here who likes RPIs probably already knows wtf Arm is, the market who doesn't isn't going to make the switch from MUSHes to RPIs.

Mushing from a phone is a PITA if everything isn't on the game itself.

Is MUSHing from a phone ever /not/ a PITA?

I haven't even bothered trying in years.

I used to log on Firan, just to blab on channels while sitting around, but I gave up on even that pretty quickly.

IDK how people RP on phone.

I stopped reading half way through the last post, but it basically applies to all MUDs I've ever touched. Especially the whole "staff refuses to talk about ANYTHING with players, obfuscates everything, hides behind IC/OOC to excuse their shitty behavior, etc".

But again... chocolate/vanilla. What "kills" the hobby for one person is the greatest thing since sticky velcro for someone else.

Rainbow-colored hair is killing the hobby.

Slightly off topic. I have no problem with TS, in some sort of context, I don't even care if there wasn't any lead-up RP besides one pose saying "joe and jane met in the bar and went back to jane's place", but I get really bothered by people who send random semi-sexual (or blatantly) pages or ooc poses/etc when in the ooc room or alone in some room for whatever reason. And there seem to be quite a few of them.

Not to disparage anybody, because everyone has different tastes, but I am very 'meh' about Star Wars games that heavily restrict Force Users and only let you play them when the staff decides.

@Coin It's more the attitude/personality for me than the occupation, necessarily. Maybe I'm in the wrong, but I'm possibly going to take your grumpy badass slightly less seriously if the badass' wiki feels like it's oozing "fuck me".

After reading that snippet about wolfbloods and seeing him handle some other stuff, I have to say.

Gabriel appears to be the headwiz that a WOD game really needs.

      Good luck. Stay strong!

I just don't want to sift through pages of "F You" "No You!" posts. There's a reason I'm not in the Pit Crew.

See, I am fine with this sentiment.

However, the "mods" here are doing a really fucking weird job of shuffling their stance on it.

@Enarei's behavior was incredibly toxic, insulting, and uncivil. But @Arkandel literally just said that's apparently fine for mildly constructive.

So the line is being drawn...what, at the word 'fuck'?

Call a dozen people idiots, etc, and you're fine. Just don't say 'fuck you'?

    • RE: Crescent Moon Mux / New Orleans CoD Mux

Comments about wiki pages with 10+ pictures in an ad that says literally nothing about the game besides "modern, in New Orleans, Vampire", seems so weird.

You spent more time going over your peeves about wikis than telling anybody anything about the game.

Crazy idea, if you can't spend 5 minutes learning the commands/etc to moderate a forum....

      Maybe don't moderate a forum?

Crazy idea, but if two out of three moderators know a particular command well enough and there is no need for immediate action, maybe waiting for a walkthrough on your first attempt is wiser than tinkering on one's lonesome and risking obliterating some posts.

Yes, just randomly move an entire thread instead of waiting for them to show you how to do it properly.

Although yes, the lingo is different. I remember thinking when I made the jump to MUSH that "tiny sex" was a hilarious term.

That, and the fact that every MUSH had a newsfile about TinySex. It was always just 'mudsex' and I had never seen it like..officially discussed or mentioned in rules or anything.

But moving the entire thread was the intended action. There was nothing random about it.

There is no logical reason to move 250 posts to the hogpit when only the last 10% of them are 'bad'.

      You're just being ridiculous now.

The big divide between MUD/MUSH that is never going to get bridged, is how RP happens.

Firan had mud-style RP. No other MUSH/MUX really does. You don't walk around the grid, run into people and say hi.
