Zenni is fantastic. Just got my first pair of glasses from them. Had to put in my two cents. Cheap enough I'm going to spring for a couple of pairs, just because I can...

RE: Good or New Movies Review
I just saw 10 Cloverfield Lane tonight, and really enjoyed it. I think the pacing could have used some work, but otherwise pretty good. John Goodman definitely carried the film for me, though. I wish we could have found out some more about his character. And the girl's, for that matter. But that's part of the suspense, I guess.
One of the friends I went with, stayed curled in her seat, watching through her fingers, while I didn't think it was very scary at all. Suspenseful, but not scary. Funny how people react to things differently.

RE: RL Anger
My mother in law is crazy.
This is going to be insensitive, but I don't care, because I'm mad about the situation.
She is currently on medication for anxiety. Totally sucks. I get it. I was too for a while. She clearly needs to actually see a therapist or something though, because her dose isn't high enough, and an MD can only do so much when it comes to possible mental illness.
As you folks know, I'm pregnant - hormonal, crazy pregnant. I try to hold it in, but my usual quiet self hasn't been taking shit off of anybody lately, and I haven't been able to tolerate generally shitty attitudes.
So the whole family is at the movies. Movie ends, we go to the restroom, my sis in law (who MIL can't stand right now, for reasons none of us have been able to figure out) takes a longer time than usual as she's recovering from a severe bladder infection. Mother in law shrieks in the middle of the lobby area, "I can't believe we're still fucking waiting, let's just leave her."
To which I snap back (like an idiot, making things worse, but word-vomit), "If you're in such a damn hurry, you can go sit your ass in the car."
So she goes to the car just as sis in law is walking up to us. We follow, and that crazy bitch has taken the car, and actually drove home, leaving three of us semi-stranded, and almost ran over my husband (her son) on the way out. Honked the horn and everything.
Brother in law made two trips to take us all home. Poor guy.
Get home, every last door is locked. Thankfully there was a hide away key, because she had the keys with the house key on it. Ugh.
This was two days ago. I apologized for snapping, tried to make up and stuff... But nooo. My father in law is now in charge of meals because the last two nights when she wanted to make dinner, guess who didn't get any food...
Anyway...So messed up. Pretty much ready to take a taxi and.hop a plane home. Only reason I haven't is because everyone else has been great.
/rant
Tl:dr - mother in law is crazy, and there's no way I'm ever trusting her with my child, at this point. She even told me the other day that she used to have to leave her kids alone for hours, because she couldn't handle it....And keeps talking about wanting to babysit...
Anyway...shutting up now x.x

@Arkandel
Never! I fell asleep in the movie theater the first time through (pregnant, exhausted, don't judge), so I went to see it again. I'd been excited for Civil War, too...But I was kind of sad I didn't get a nap the second time...
There were lots of enjoyable parts. Mostly I felt like the plot was too forced, as a whole, though. The reasoning behind a lot of the characters actions, and such, reeeeally bugged me. Sort of ruined it for me. -

Shouldn't use "text message talk" if the abbreviations/words don't make sense...
Wait until you read it in e-mail correspondence from opposing counsel.

@ThatOneDude
Totally needing that oasis today...jeez. haha. We do have color examples in one of our books. The inevitable "well I don't like /any/ of those, they're just not /quite/ right". ...
I've promised a customer that their four year old won't remember what hue of purple the cake is by the time it matters. They still didn't believe me. >.>
One of these days...
I need that weird oasis of calm contraption, or a wiffle bat. Or possibly both. -

So much this, omg...
Also, as a mild aside - Fuck you, people who walk up to our pastry case and ask for a sub sandwich... "Half an italian on white, lettuce". First, that should not be you're opening statement when approaching another human being. Second, do you know where you are? Because I'm pretty sure you're a lost idiot. The Deli is another half-store-length to your left. Hard to miss the giant sign.

RE: Do you believe in paranormal things?
Yes and no...
With the caveat of science, then no. I think things in the world/universe will all eventually be explained, just unlikely in our lifetime.
Without that, I do believe in paranormal things to an extent, if only because of personal experience.
The first and most chilling example to me -
When I was in elementary school, my parents and I lived in an old condo they were remodeling. I'd always had night terrors, but by then I had a recurring dream about falling off of the third floor balcony of the indoor stairs to the first floor. (bedrooms were all upstairs). In this dream, I'd fall, and I'd lie there, not moving, while people stepped over and through me. Couldn't talk, couldn't do anything. Just stuck there on the floor. I'd wake up just about every night, screaming and crying, as children tend to do. My parents always told me it was just a nightmare, and to make me feel better, I'd sleep with the bedroom door closed and an army of stuffed animals to "protect" me.
Years later, we've moved out, I'm in high school, my mom and I are talking about the old condo, and she lets slip - "Yeah, too bad we got it after that little girl died there. Always gave me the creeps at night."
Apparently, my parents kept from me for years the fact that a little girl had fallen off the balcony and snapped her neck on impact, died, and that's why the previous owners of the condo had moved out.
Granted, this was all waaaay after the fact that I heard about this. But my mother, as much of a bitch as she can be, was never one to scare me intentionally...if only because she didn't want to have to deal with upset-me.
A bunch of stuff happened like that when I was a kid. Seeing things that weren't there, especially at night. I'm sure there's an explanation for everything, but to this day I still believe in paranormal things to a degree, science or not.

@Three-Eyed-Crow
Definitely documented.
Unfortunately I don't get paid/documented sick time, or anything like that. I'm part time now (in part because of mentioned issues, in part because I've started my own business yay!), so if I call out, I call out. Or, that's how I've understood it over the years. I'll be looking that up to double check, because I've been a full time employee up until a few months ago, and am still kind of used to how things worked, from that perspective.
Regardless. Still fuming. -
Sleepy boredom...
...(also known as exhaustion) due to pregnancy illness and subsequent childbirth has brought me poking back around here.
Hey folks! What's the happityhap? Hope everyone's been doing well!
So much gossip and such to catch up on...

RE: Sleepy boredom...
Gotta say, I'll be slightly glad when it's more than just a fish tank experience. I think I'd prefer the commands over a gremlin screaming in my ear at two in the morning for not making food fast enough. At least there's some kind of interaction, with commands? I don't know. I'll report back when the time comes >>

RE: [Ethnicity Thread] Who Do You Think You Are?
Each of my grandparents were from different European countries, whose families all immigrated to the United States sometime around World War II. Don't know what their genealogy is like, but just what I know from where they come from, I'm Irish, Scottish, Dutch and German.
Interestingly (and sadly), we suspect my father's mother's brother was a Nazi or somesuch, as they supposedly had some political ties in Germany. He allegedly sent his family away to America at some point, and was then never heard from again. Just speculation though. I like to think if he was, he was a reluctant one, and why the family never heard from him again. Again, all speculation/rumor I heard from my parents. Oh, and my Scottish grandfather apparently had a castle. Our family rumors are clearly reliable. That or everyone in Scotland had a castle...
Not as interestingly, if I step into sunlight, I will likely turn immediately into ash. I "can't even" with sunlight. #PastyProblems? -
RE: RL things I love
Three days off after working 12+ish hour work days for the last week or so... Totally planned on being productive, but totally wasn't, and I'm not even sure I care.
I love days off of work. So much.
So much.
So.
Much.Edit: Also, the new Mad Max movie? I want to go spend my entire pay check seeing that absolutely ridiculous film. Love it.

Scheduling out my week, even though I rarely stick with it.
Something about planning is cathartic, despite how life usually ruins a detailed schedule/plan. -

Ah, the ability to wear strapless anything. How I envy...
Think this is that classic case of always greener on the other side, or someshit.
