I've always had a hard time getting involved. I'm definitely one of those introvert types that gets a pretty decent dose of anxiety even talking on a public channel, let alone asking for RP. Especially in larger places where it seems cliques have already been established. That said, I've made an active effort, (when I'm legitimately able to do so - ie: not at work just chilling, or have more than an hour or two to do something) to break out of my little introverted box lately instead of letting my friends doing it for me, like a wuss. I've noticed that a lot of the time, when people ask for rp, if others can't, but are hanging around ooc, they just say nothing. Patience goes a long way for those people asking, but even for those others just hanging around, a "no, sorry, can't today", actually goes a long way toward curbing some of the introverted frustration.
I've been playing on Reno recently and I've been pretty pleased with things so far. I think some of the people who gave up recently missed the new influx of players. It would be nice to get some STs back there. The few events I joined, ended up not happening for various reasons, which was kind of frustrating. I'd like to run some stuff, myself, but still working up the courage to handle all that
Anyway....I kind of forgot where I was going with this (obviously). I'm groggy and should shut up now.
TL:DR - Patience is a virtue, on all accounts.

Emotional ruts you can't get out of.
Now I'm just angry for no reason.

RE: Star Wars 1
A Star Wars game I was on a few years back did an application kind of thing, for Force users that opened new spots every now and then. You could app Good, Neutral or Dark, if I recall correctly. As a player who considered going that route, and didn't, I never really felt that staff was playing favorites or anything like that. I think the Star Wars environment itself tends to be rich enough that a not-Force character/feature character doesn't feel second class, or anything like that.
Just my two cents. Haven't played in this particular game, but I do think feature characters tend to work a bit better on Star Wars games, than others. -
RE: What Do You Love About WoD?
When looking for places to play, I always had a really hard time getting behind places based on movies, tv shows, or major book series like Lord of the Rings, because they never felt as open ended to me. I feel like the major stories there have already been told and exhausted (generally speaking), so I'm less inclined to even consider those options. *
As a result, I was dragged to an oWoD MUD (that really only did rp and ignored the MUD aspects after a while. It was silly) by a good friend from where I'd been wading through RP in Yahoo! chatrooms and IRC stuff. Never thought I'd stick around, but the appeal of creating an entirely unique character, in a setting that is open ended enough that you feel like you /can/ do anything if you wanted to, got me hooked on WoD. I'm also a sucker for urban fantasy (and post apocalypse, but that's slightly less related), so that really helps. Playing the monster is a big draw for me, too. I don't tend to read too in depth the stories provided in the books, because of what I mentioned earlier with the stories already being told. Other than maybe a quick skin for theme/feel, but really I rely on wikis from the actual game for most of that.
A big factor for me, too, is that my circle of friends (albeit very small these days), play WoD, so I've kind of kept to the genre because of that. The option of splats to play, often on the same game, is a big draw for me as well. Always did like the cross-sphere rp.
I guess the TL:DR version of that ramble would be: **I feel like I can be more creative with my characters in a WoD setting. ***With the exception of one Star Wars game from a while back - Star Wars: Age of Strife

RE: RL things I love
Scheduling out my week, even though I rarely stick with it.
Something about planning is cathartic, despite how life usually ruins a detailed schedule/plan. -
RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Haven't had issues with insomnia since around high school.
It's apparently back with a vengeance, aside from one random 12 hour stretch of sleep.
Ugh.
Tossing and turning is lame, especially with work looming ever closer =| -
RE: RL things I love
Repeated 12 hour work-days are tiring. I do not love those.
What I do love is the 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep I just got as a result of the crazy-work. Awesome dreams. Well rested. Stormy outside.
Perfect lazy day off before starting all over again with crazy-work tomorrow.

I'm Hera! Telekinetic-not-totally-sure-entirely-what-I'm-doing-yet, char >.>
Anyone feel free to prod at me for RP or whatever, whenever. Even if my available hours kinda suck.
@Thisnameistaken dragged me over after giving the game a second chance. Pretty much love everyone there so far. Just saying. -
RE: RL things I love
@Arkandel
It was wonderful. And kind of awful. And ridiculous. I probably loved it for all the reasons other people hated it. But I'm weird like that... -
RE: RL things I love
Three days off after working 12+ish hour work days for the last week or so... Totally planned on being productive, but totally wasn't, and I'm not even sure I care.
I love days off of work. So much.
So much.
So.
Much.Edit: Also, the new Mad Max movie? I want to go spend my entire pay check seeing that absolutely ridiculous film. Love it.

RE: [Ethnicity Thread] Who Do You Think You Are?
Each of my grandparents were from different European countries, whose families all immigrated to the United States sometime around World War II. Don't know what their genealogy is like, but just what I know from where they come from, I'm Irish, Scottish, Dutch and German.
Interestingly (and sadly), we suspect my father's mother's brother was a Nazi or somesuch, as they supposedly had some political ties in Germany. He allegedly sent his family away to America at some point, and was then never heard from again. Just speculation though. I like to think if he was, he was a reluctant one, and why the family never heard from him again. Again, all speculation/rumor I heard from my parents. Oh, and my Scottish grandfather apparently had a castle. Our family rumors are clearly reliable. That or everyone in Scotland had a castle...
Not as interestingly, if I step into sunlight, I will likely turn immediately into ash. I "can't even" with sunlight. #PastyProblems? -

@Huzuruth
Yes. That. I always end up that person that gets stuck in a corner, never gets any cool stuff, and dies first because naturally the Haunt ends up on top of the tile I'm on
....
Love the game anyway... damnit. -
RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
@DamnitJim
I'm always going to use "lol". It's been engrained from a young age despite attempts to stop. I hate myself a little for it.
Related, however...
When people (on whatever communication platform) type "heh" as their laugh or whatever.
I know it's text, but man ... Sounds passive aggressive and extra asshat-y every time. I've had people swear up and down it was a chuckle, or some variation. Whatever.
Just saying it out loud - "heh".
Awful.
Stop it, people. -
RE: Crafts & Things
Speaking of hobbies and such...
Does anyone here have a Patreon account? Has anyone heard of Patreon, even? It looks pretty awesome, potentially, and I was thinking about joining up, but my brain is not storming as much as I would like! -
RE: Crafts & Things
@Sponge
Way belatedly...
One of my best friends just got a job at a 3D printing company... His first task was to create his own office supplies.
I'm beyond jealous.
3D printing is very dope. -
RE: People Who Want to RP With Other People
@Thisnameistaken you had a good idea and reminded me about this thread...
I'm always up for playing with just about anybody. Unfortunately, my schedule sucks pretty hard, so RP has been spotty at best, the last few months. Currently, I only play at TR until some other endeavors are up and running, but if anyone is interested in weekday daytime (when I'm not at the dayjob) or nights (after 10pm) EST RP, then feel free to drop me a line somewhere =D
I play Anahi (Hedge Warden Changeling), and Hera (Psychic Beast-kin, possiblymaybe Changing breed if I ever read the book...).
