RE: How would you run a large scene?
I already have hooks for pose break systems. I think there is a point where the pose and say system just isn't going to do everything.

RE: How would you run a large scene?
I still find that large scenes tend to organically become several smaller scenes. Sometimes one person will make one three-screen pose responding to everything, but that's their style. It throws me off.
I strongly dislike places code. If you're going to do places, you might as well just be in separate MUSH rooms. Less obtrusive. But I haven't seen a lot of trouble with people making and managing their own sub-groups naturally, even when they're in the same room.
I have some kind of mental issue that means the more the screen scrolls, the less I can focus on it, but being in Places in the same room means you can react to outbursts, or that you can be involved in the larger scene at your own leisure, which is a feature.
I'll agree with @Roz that showing poses with prefixes would help that a lot, so long as it's not ANSI confetti vomit.
Hell, in "mandatory meetings" I end up group-paging people OOCly to keep from walking away from the terminal until someone tells me it's over, because that shit is so boring.
Skip the fluff.
We need a montage! If you don't follow Johnny Wander, start here for a 10-part quick summary about going overseas to get married. It's also a lot of fun, so.
Finally: I will tell people to pose around me if I'm not interested in the scene, and I will tell people who submit '3pr' that I will pose when I'm damned good and ready, and if I get ignored because of "pose-queueing" I will mention it then leave. Improv, people! Do you speak it!

Asa - Changeling
Great, now I'm kicking my brain trying to remember if Vera was nice (relatively speaking) to Asa or if I was a complete dickwad about her. It all happened so long ago.

I really didn't like the last battle in the first Shadowrun Returns game. Actually, I just didn't like the ending at all. It was like they were struggle for UGH MEEEEEANING beyond the run itself, and that was lame.
Come on, folks. You don't need to have earth-shattering ramifications to make a game interesting.
Well sure, but the game was a huge gamble from Hare-Brained Schemes and an untested idea coming out of Kickstarter. If they wanted to jam as much stuff in there as possible (so many cameos, and I do not care for the jester elf) I can't say I'm surprised nor do I blame them.

RE: PVP Focused Mu's
I'm reminded of the days of yore when telnet clients for MUDs were rated by the speed and effectiveness of their scripts for speed walking and combat reaction.

RE: RL Anger
Video games with ending "boss-fight" scenarios. They really need to let you scum save, or at least save-point somewhere in the middle there so when you inevitably die because you have no idea what's going on you don't have to start all over again. Unless the game is set up as an endurance test, surprising you at the end like this may be a usual kind of thing but it's nonsense and should be stopped.
With that in mind, I have completely finished only one of the three Shadowrun Returns games.

RE: RL Anger
I've had a headache for more than a day and I've been a bit too bitchy for my tastes. I'm impressed with people who have to live with chronic pain, because damn I'm annoying with just a headache.

What did Aria say about Darner Vosque?
Hey, hey, hey hey hey! If you're going to make a reference to me in that way, I'd prefer that you called me ... The Patriarch.

RE: Coming in 2016 - Bump in the Night
How to bake a game.
Take one EldritchMUX.
Move to new location and re-compile with @Chime's tweaked Mux setting.
Remove players and everything they owned.
Transfer staff-owned objects to holder bits (code and building).
Delete mail and channel databases. Re-create.
Hooks to mySQL. Change code to handle new wiki setup. Re-create back-end tables.
Delete wizbits.
Reset #1 Wizard's name and password.
Create flatfile backup as half-baked starter game template.Add game to taste.

RE: FS3 3rd Edition Feedback
@faraday, are you still using
regedit()
? That is, can I try to port it to Mux again? I don't think we ever got past that one particular function. -
RE: Cheap or Free Games!
Well that's not Valve's fault. While they could say, "No, you must use our platform's DRM or none", they chose not to. They know it doesn't make Microsoft or Apple any hard-core allies, and Steam walks that very happy line between corporation and nerd paradise. They no more want to force you over to Uplay than you do, and by selling Uplay-centric games you're still thinking, "Man, I wish this was Steam." They get a cut, they get your loyalty, they win and I suspect they want you to win too but no enterprise is perfect.

RE: Cheap or Free Games!
Call it a love letter to Gabe Newell. It starts: You broke my heart leaving Half Life 2 on a cliff-hanger, again, releasing four, five, six games instead of another Half Life, but I cannot quit you. I forgive you for everything for making a platform that people want to use, instead of one that the companies want people to use. You used the marketing of the superior to make us love you, and we do. Thank you. XXXOOO.

RE: Shadowrun Returns UGC
i haven't had a problem using mod nexus stuff for steam games, but each one is a little different. I'll check it out.

RE: Wikifi your Mux's Help & News Files like a Fucking Pro
Updated this for two reasons.
-
Different wiki installs have different prefixes. Allowed easily changing the prefix from 'wiki_' to whatever.
-
The latest versions of MediaWiki messed up the ability to do case-insensitive page_title searches from the Mu*. Fixed that.
Enjoy.

You should have heard @Coin last night whining like a teenager about how we all ganged up on him three games ago.
Enjoy!
