Alright, fun's fun, but can we please take this to the Politics thread?

Everyone knows the personal is political, but for those without privilege, the political frequently becomes personal. There's a valid reason for anger.

Oh completely. There is legitimate concern that this is a return to the alleyway abortion clinic, and another step of turning the Office of the President into a dictator position.

I said this about the tax reform, and I’ll say that about this: We will see what happens in five years.

This doesn’t mean stop fighting. This does not wait and see. I don’t think we will know the true outcome for a while. Be angry.

I requested the move because the Political Club was having Political Discussion, and I was thinking that people were getting tired of being trolled by @Tyche. People who are upset are easier to troll, and it’s a complete jackass move to take advantage of it, but...well...yeah.

(My apologies to well meaning Republicans and/or Conservatives on this board. I’m not talking about you.)

So the Politics nerds can nerd out, and maybe we could get back to what this board is for. Venting.

I agree with the twitterer: It wasn’t about Kavanaugh, he used Kavanaugh as a jumping off point to the real problem.

In what sense? Less Vagueness Please.

      You obviously believe the accusations.

Or am I upset in what the accusations and his responses represent?

No need to banter: It's that one.

Which would've been obvious if you weren't trolling.

@roz Uhm, technically we're called Xennials.

      I...what?

I have a new thing to be angry about!

      edit, from the article:

Xennials aren't especially pessimistic, but they aren't as optimistic and confident as millennials tend to be.

...What? The only reason Millennials tell me that they're optimistic is because they're resigned that the world is fucked and that they can't do anything about it, so why worry? They're far more confident about building community and optimistic about their friends and their social status, but that's about all I see.

      @ganymede

Whoa there, Cowpoke, let's slow down there. The Millennials I work with are not whiners. Mostly. They're just kids. There are a lot of tattoos and woodsman beards, but I wouldn't classify almost any of them as Hipsters.

      Step One: Vote.
Step Two: Figure out who to vote for based on their history.

I know that Step Two should be Step One, but as politics has become so much marketing that being able to train yourself to understand Step Two seems daunting these days, and funny thing the political parties don't seem that excited to give people critical thinking powers.

Also something that makes me angry, but more on a slow burn:

      • Without critical thinking education, we are fucked.

      Vote.

I think the Millennials where I work are tired of me reminding them to vote. On the other hand, I have figured out that the link between Gen-X and Millennial is pretty strong.

This whole Brett Kavanaugh thing. It makes me ashamed. It makes me ashamed of being male. It makes me ashamed of being white. It makes me ashamed of being upper middle class. It makes me ashamed of being from his generation. It makes me ashamed of my government. It makes me ashamed of my country. There is nothing from his bad acting to his outrageous entitlement that doesn't make me angry, and on top of that I hit most of the labels that makes me outwardly similar to that monster. Fuck. That.

      That is all.

First you reply to my email.

Then you play the shit out of VC4. (I only say this because I imagine AC:O is going to be about as bland as all the other AC games, and Steam users seem to be quite enjoying VC4.)

@EmmahSue , @Cobaltasaurus , EmmaDad and I will be embarking on our first trial combat this Tuesday. (Note: EmmaDad has played Gloomhaven before. He's interested and we'll benefit from someone who knows the rules.)

    • RE: How to: make your poses less repetitive

One of the things that still bugs me about this pose setup that we have is that it is much harder to get banter. I can’t interrupt, and it looks strange if I pose after someone else with: “ I— Well yes, but— Can I get a word in please!” I’ve always felt it less an organic storytelling and more just waiting for my turn to write.

It can be worked out when everyone else knows what you are trying to do, but there is no chance to interject into the break even if it enhances the pose or situation.

So we usually return to waiting for our turn to write.

Hey @thenomain, did you notice that they're changing the banner pretty much once a day? You happened to hit it on "Batman Day". Today is "Mordor Day" and yesterday had a smattering of pretty much all of your so-called "notable" games on it.

Some day you'll learn to pay attention.

      Idiot.

No, I'm kidding. I don't know if he did or didn't, but if he did, yeah that's a shitty thing to do. If he didn't, well, evidence is not on his side.

I happen not to like Darc as a game-runner, which is why I was going along with the original question. I don't know how many people don't like Darc as a game-runner, but his lack of involvement in Miami means that I will at least log in to check it out.

Either way, best of luck to you guys.

@faraday said in MU* Server Technology/Features. What do you WANT, what do you SEE?:

I mean, imagine what would happen if you set up a MUSH but then told people: "You can only pose in this one scene this week, and it involves everyone on the game, and you have to wait for the storyteller in-between rounds, and 1/3rd of the players are going to drop out before the first scene even finishes." It wouldn't work very well! But that's not a problem with the technology, it's a problem with the way the game is structured.

Did someone say my second name, "You-have-to-be-careful-when-using-technology-to-solve-social-problems?"

Not having played Storium, is the description you have a part of Storium's code, or is this a rule that many storytellers on Storium give it?

If it's the former, then it is a code issue. It's a bad code issue (looking to solve a social problem, perhaps?) that should be looked into by Storium's developers, or should be settable per story.

If it's the latter, then storytellers are being kind of silly.
