RE: Mass Effect: Andromeda: The Thread
Another patch tomorrow, 5/10 around noon eastern.

It reminds me of Bob Dobbs and the Church of the Subgenius.

Yeah, it VIII that don't appear in any of the merchants.

RE: Mass Effect: Andromeda: The Thread
@Insomnia Had I known, I would have. Except it wasn't released as an early access game from what I've read.

RE: Mass Effect: Andromeda: The Thread
The first patch is out and there'll be a number of them over the next couple months. Had I known I was going to be beta testing for them, I wouldn't have wasted my money on an unfinished game.

RE: Mass Effect: Andromeda: The Thread
Here's a bug to keep an eye out for. On Voeld, Stage A Rescue. Keep a save game right before the mission starts. When you free people from the cages, make sure they all get off the platform. Sometimes, the guy you have to talk to afterwards stays there and you can't talk to him. It's a priority mission too.
Supposedly, they're patching things next week.

I kind of feel compelled to point out that this isn't a static issue. Thrax IS evolving.
-
Several members of Thrax and their vassals have either openly or quietly indicated their desire to remove the institution.
-
Political and trade alliances have been made to aid in releasing significant portions of the thrall population.
-
Vassals now have the ability to modify the institution in a variety of ways, such as no longer imposing the debt of a parent on a child, minimum age requirements to be placed in thralldom, etc.
The goal with this is to abolish the institution without destroying Thrax economically, as well as be able to guide those in thralldom slowly into their rights and freedoms. And it is happening at a measured rate. Whether it's happening fast enough for all parties is a matter of IC discussion.
Which I think is awesome!
I don't. That is, depending on the extent of what happens. I find it ridiculous that after many centuries, an ingrained institution is suddenly changing because the game opened and players' OOC beliefs on slavery are 'it's bad' and want thralldom abolished. Sure, sure. The characters could also believe that. They shouldn't; not so many that it happens IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR WAR of annihilation being directed at the entire Compact.
Aside from that, I don't like the idea that Thrax are being pressured to lose so much of what makes them interesting. The day Thrax becomes bland, I'll probably drop my character and/or the game.

That people have managed it in a game that hasn't even been open for a year either means there's either been some hilariously bad players or a staffing team that's whimsically dropping the hammer.
Marvel: 1963 has banned 2 or 3 people so far and we've been open less than a year too. There's definitely some bad players out there though hilarious is not what I'd call them.

And now the penny drops for why Arx has so quickly become a Klearing-howse of Krayzee.
Can't say I've seen any crazy on staff's end in game. Some of the players I might avoid but that's the same anywhere. When something like this comes up, we can only form our opinion based on what we know. When it's something that happens in game via page or request that most of us aren't privy to, we have to fall back on what we know of those involved. In this case, for me, it's how do they represent themselves here? So, yeah. my money is on @lordbelh being the reasonable one.

Doing both in 'one universe' just seems super fanservice-y/"we need players".
More players are always nice (well, usually) but I wouldn't say we need them. Even at this hour, we have 27 unique logins. We wanted to open up additional popular character to the players. We didn't, though, want to do some 'dimensional crisis' thing where suddenly the DC universe phases in, overlaps, or whatnot. They've just always been part of Marvel.
I don't think I've ever seen that done and who knows, it might not work. But we'll find out and if it doesn't, we'll deal with it.

Adding Superman to a Marvel Universe game is kinda weird I guess.
You won't get an argument from me. Honestly, I wouldn't mind banning him altogether but that's not going to happen. Some characters will fit in pretty seamlessly. Pretty much any street level character is simple. We're going to need to work with players for some though. Any alien, for instance including members of the Lantern Corp. But it's been made clear that everyone needs to fit into the game's theme and the Marvel universe so everyone knows what they're getting and that some work might need to be done.
As for the idiots, yeah. Best to ignore them altogether.

RE: Marvel: 1963
Games grow and change. Those that don't stagnate and die. It's closing in on a year and we decided the players would benefit from opening the game up to other characters while still keeping the Marvel setting and single city grid to keep RP concentrated in one place.
Just think of us as (Marvel: 1963)+.

RE: Marvel: 1963
Just posted to Announcements:
Hey folks. After talking it over, staff has decided to make a small change to the game. We will now accept DC characters as well as those of other comic companies. Okay, maybe not so small. There's a couple catches though.
Just like with Marvel, some characters will be banned. We're not making up a list and will take it on a case by case basis. Others will be restricted.
Just like with Marvel, characters will need to fit into the 1964 era and the game's theme.
Also, just like with Marvel, characters will need to fit into the Marvel universe. Yes, you heard that right. We're not merging universes. There's no Gotham and never has been a Gotham. Batman will need to fit into NYC somehow. Oa will need to deal with the Shi'ar Empire. And power levels will need to be scaled to Marvel which, generally, is lower than than of DC. Obviously, in a lot of cases, this will need consultation with staff but we'll be happy to do that with you. We think this will add a lot of possibilities to the game and believe the effort will be worth it.
Lastly, just as an FYI, no staffer is going to be apping a non-Marvel character for 2 weeks from today. First choice is all yours.

RE: Logging your activity
@Auspice Nothing worse than logging with a client's logging function. The coder on Dark Spires - I don't recall his name - coded up a logger object that works fantastically. You drop it and it records only the IC that happens in the room so it doesn't pick up any of your pages, bboard reading, +wheres, etc. It's since migrated to other games, including Marvel: 1963 where @ixokai has greatly improved on the functionality and has configured it to the wiki format as well. I never log without it.
