Damn it. I don't know what to play.

@Warma-Sheen The trick is to set a date once you know it can be met. When I initially started, I wanted to have research done by end of January. Then we got ahead of schedule, and I was like "Maybe by April" but then it became clear we could make it sooner, so I said it then.
What you should have done was multiplied by a factor of four before giving the estimate for opening. Then you'd be considered a miracle worker for opening so soon.

RE: RL things I love
I've used both Zenni and Eyebuydirect. They're excellent. I need a strong prescription and they'd cost me about $400 getting them at a store nearby. At either place I can get them for less than $150. Anyone who needs glasses should check them out.

P.S. I think that commas are important; that the Oxford Comma gets a bad rap; and that you should always, always use a semi-colon to separate items in a list if that list is in the form of a sentence and one of those items contains a comma in it, even if those commas are helping something superfluous, such as word repetition for emphatization or the explanation of something pointless in an overly long sentence that didn't need to exist in the first place and that no one really wants to read anyway.

RE: PopCulture vs Myths?
Everyone knows REAL vampires glitter.
Also, I don't care what it says about the human race until it starts sexualizing zombies. Cause eww.

RE: Good TV
Lucifer is moderately amusing. But I don't see it lasting. Nor will I feel particularly sad about it.

RE: Kay's Playlist: Crucible City (first one),TR & HM & Darkwater etc
@Kay Hey Shulkie. I played Nick/Phase on CC. Damn, that was about 12 years ago too. If you're looking for a supers game, I think CoMux is probably the best one out there currently.

RE: Dead Celebrity Thread
Supreme Court Justice Scalia.
Thank you universe!

RE: Good TV
I watch a ton of police procedurals and crime dramas. The Wire was amazing. And I stopped watching it after a few episodes. It was too much like watching the news.
I don't watch TV to get immersed in how bad reality can be.

RE: RL Anger
I love dogs and I had one for years growing up. But I much prefer cats for their independence. Granted, I'm lazy and don't want to have to walk the dog 2+ times a day but the real reason is that they're the most codependent things on the face of the planet. I can't stand people who live for someone else and I don't want it in a pet either. I don't need to be worshiped that way.

RE: BITN - 101 Scary Stories
The most scared I've ever been over a movie was the Towering Inferno. Granted, I was a kid but still. Count me in with the 'could happen is scariest' crowd.

As an analogy, think of how a gay man may be concerned with PCs mincing and fellating in public on a game.
I can deal with the fellating but the mincing always irritates me.

RE: How did you discover text-based gaming?
Started with BBS games (anyone remember 300 baud modems?). I don't remember where I saw an ad for it but I started to play Gemstone III on GEnie back in the early 90s. There was the Sierra Network too.
Edited to add: Trade Wars. That was the name of the BBS game.

RE: BITN - 101 Scary Stories
A hospital that's home to various monsters, perhaps all of the same family.
The ER that has a higher rate of fatalities that can be explained by statistics because one such monster is feeding off the life force of those who are grievously hurt enough that their death is assumed to be from what happened to them.
The coma ward where every patient is low on blood except no one checks for that on someone in a coma. There's enough patients the monster can feed off their blood indefinitely.
The psych ward which has a lower rate of violent incidents because another monster is feeding off their psychic energy, placating the insane and keeping them partially sedated. The staff just count their blessings.
The morgue where nothing appears out of the ordinary at all. Except that corpses get sewn up after autopsies without some of their organs. The coroner has an appetite that can't be satisfied by Red Robin.

RE: Glitch
Damn. Even though he followed me, he doesn't like me enough to send me the link.
Someone post it here so if I run across it on another forum or game, I know to ignore it.

RE: Making an Isolated Theme Work
@Miss-Demeanor said:
@faraday Not to me. The good shows work it into a plot line, give the characters a chance to figure out how the Hell so many random strangers keep finding their way there.
Variations on this theme have been done many times. Riverworld for instance.
Let's take the zombie apocalypse setting as a for instance. Deep underground or way over there in those mountains, you have a secret government installation. The government saw the writing on the wall and built them all over the country. They took as many people as they could and are keeping them in cryogenic tanks. It's not just the best and brightest though there are those as well but also the average Joe. Civilization needs plumbers and carpenters and just good breeding stock.
The scientists are getting older so they need to train replacements. People outside are dying so they need replacements and an increased genetic pool. People are periodically unfrozen and released, implanted with false memories to bring them up to speed on current events and forget about the installation.
It can even be part of the setting and theme the players have no idea about and staff can drop hints and let them figure it out. Once they do, you can even open CG up to characters from the installation and have them work together. Or go to war. Whatever.

I commented a couple of times exactly what you're saying, that people are quite friendly and I get offers to RP all the time (mind you, not only from female characters).
I was told it's because I'm a guy - so I'm wondering if there's any truth to it.
Ah. So you're wondering if female PCs get less RP. Interesting. It goes against the common stereotype that females get all the guys hitting on them.
If so, I never noticed on +where.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Arkandel As opposed to...?
A male playing a female?
A female playing a male?
A female playing a female?I only play guys and haven't had any trouble finding RP when I want it. I'm not sure what gender the player is has on anything though. Who's to know unless you tell them?
