    • RE: Recipes and Shit

For shrimp I highly recommend Honey Garlic Shrimp and Banh Xeo. Now, admittedly, I hate making crepes. So instead, I usually do an omelet or more traditional pancakes. But YMMV!

Oh, and if you have the fixings... a Seafood Boil is ALWAYS a great family-style dish! I tend to use my own seasoning blends rather than Old Bay (I don't care for bay leaves), and obvs don't need any other seafood but shrimp!

Edit: Also also! For anyone trying to stay low-carb or gluten free.... this is a good shrimp scampi with an alternative to noodles!

    • RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?

@crayon I would kick puppies for a Xanth game. Or color panties. Or find what's between the Roc and the Hard Place.

    • RE: Learning how to apply appropriate boundaries

@ganymede IF viewed through a contextual lens, then yes. I would agree. But I have long since given up on the rom-com genre for ever portraying a healthy way to go about pursuing a love interest. Oddly, Legally Blonde has one of the better ways of dealing with it, even if it does come with its own host of issues.

    • RE: New Mu* Creation: Atharia

@icanbeyourmuse I love being in an on-grid room... but at the same time, you can't host two events at the same place at the same time. And sometimes people want to be in a location, but not leaving themselves open to anyone that wants to join. Being able to easily grab a room's desc in a c/p to toss into a temp room is a good way to allow someone to enjoy the work someone put into descing a room without hampering peoples' fun.

@groth I think you're relying far too much on theory and not enough on reality. I have never, ever been able to sell more than 300 resources in a single shot.

@derp said in Roster Characters & WoD?:

Your continuity goes all to hell as each and every person plays them in a different way because they don't actually give a shit about their story or history, they just don't wanna do the chargen work.

It's funny to me because this does not seem to be a huge issue on large games with a roster like, oh, Arx. I mean, sure, it has a host of attendant problems, but this really isn't one of them. And frankly, I think what you said before says more about World of Darkness players than about rosters.

To be fair, though, I'd probably allow every player to make 1 OC when they come on board. After that, like, do what you will, but if you hand-off your PC to an idle-out, like on most WoD games, that PC's fate is in staff's hands unless you give some sort of last-will instruction.

In regards to Arx, they actually had to recently make a statement and update to the rules that roster characters would have to be played for a certain amount of time before any large changes could be made specifically because people were picking up a character just long enough to kill off an idle spouse/HoH so they could be 'free' to play the character they wanted.... then the character would idle out within a month of the request being granted. Insert also 'scrape sheets for extra xp that could be sent to their main alt', 'make huge sweeping changes to their background/personality/etc.', 'scrap inventories for mats/empty bank accounts of saved gold or resources'.... like it became enough of an issue that staff had to make a new rule to keep people from doing it.

    • RE: Spirit Lake - Discussion

@faraday Yes, look at them. How many of the advertised game are a new alternative to the high-magic setting that people have been craving (and not getting) from Arx? Calaveras, which is I believe the only other actual new game to open recently (Horror MUX is just a retread of Lovecraft) is a no-magic soap opera-ish type of game. So not likely something that would appeal to the playerbase that's been salivating over Arx's long-awaited magic system. shrug I'm seeing this at a glance after two days, its not that difficult to notice.

    • RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff

@silverfox said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff:

In my household my husband does 90% of the cooking. Not because I CAN'T cook, but because of several reasons.

On the nights I do cook (like today, when there are fucking wildfire evaccuations in DECEMBER and husband must cover them...) I'm reminded of one of the major reasons why I was happy to give up the chore. Mostly because I cannot have the kitchen dirty before I cook, nor leave it dirty after I cook. So on top of the actual prep, here's an easy 20-30 minutes before and after cooking.

DOES ANY ONE ELSE DO THIS?!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeep. I also clean WHILE cooking. Spills are not allowed to sit! If I have to open a package of meat, I must wipe the counter after it has been transferred to the appropriate pan/pot. I make a lot of 1-2 pot meals specifically because I must clean as I go.

    • RE: criticism not allowed in ad threads is only enforcing a false positive, prove me wrong

@thenomain The human kind. Honestly? I think we're all more critical of each other on the forum than we normally would be. I don't think there's any one particular reason for it, either, its just a thing that happens for a number of different and changing reasons. I think we're also more sensitive in this forum than we would otherwise show to people, ultimately for the same different and changing reasons. Keep working at it, its really all any of us can do.

@macha So, the chair I've been using since.... March of last year (nearly to a year now, yay!) is from Fantasylab (subset of Killabee). They're largely touted for being a more wallet-friendly option to the Secretlab chairs.

This chair is the one that I got. I will say you WILL want a separate foot rest with this chair because it sits high off the floor, but nearly a year of constant, daily use of this chair and I am still sitting comfortably, my back is supported, my butt is cushioned, and I can even sit cross-legged in the chair (because I'm a masochist like that). It's rated to about 350lbs.

@sparks It was amazing. I brought my commoner to the Assembly and I can't say I've ever had so much fun in an event that my character couldn't even really speak at. The surprises, the reactions, everything was just so fun.
