    • Someone make a damn CofD/Storytelling 2 game worth playing, kthx

Seriously guys. It has been nearly a year since Hitler told you the code is out there! I know of at least 2 coders on MSB personally who can help a complete idiot (me) get a game up and going (@Thenomain and @Cobaltasaurus). I know of a handful of people who will almost always help and consult (@Coin first among them). And yet, let's see what is out there.

      • Echoes in time - Invite only, possibly forever. Also has the worst bits of 1E as holdovers
      • Reboot for Kingsmouth - This may or may not happen, but no one with a day job can actually manage such a game
      • Reno - Maybe they will get some traction, maybe not
      • Bump in the Night - I can't play a cool guy vampire there, so what's the point
      • Dust to Dust - This could be the one, but I think @sunny is lost in Kushiel's whatsit
      • @RDC's hypothetical New Orleans based game I just heard of? Pass.
      • That game that ripped off Eldritch's theme material word for word? Pass.
      • @ES's mage game? Probably going to be dope, but again, weird hybrid stuff. Also not close to opening due to a lack of mage

So what is a comMUnity to do? Are we just gonna sit around with our hands down our pants? Is anything else in development, and if not, why the fuck not?

    • RE: Question on NWoD combat

To elaborate a bit more, If a character opts to use the Hold Maneuver in a grapple, both characters lose their defense. While not entirely unclear, I don't personally believe that someone under the effect of Hold would be subject to a killing blow; it takes more than a lack of Defense for that. However, from a Hold one can apply the Restrain Maneuver, which may be enough.

      Mocking me. Watching me.

      Can confirm.

So, back on topic, what is your defense penalized by when you grapple?

Ex: I roll a grapple "attack" to grab Steve and establish the grapple (which would be str + brawl - Steve's defense, yes?). Assuming, I pass, we will then roll the grapple (str+brawl vs str+brawl) during the next highest init. What if, between my grabbing Steve, and Steve and I rolling our grapple, someone walks up and hits me with me with a bat?

You apply your defense as normal, but are not able to take a Dodge action.

Obliterating the purpose of this thread, but:

According to Marvel comics, all Marvel stuff takes place withing a grand multiverse, where every universe that is part of the Marvel Brand exists. Further, though, there is also an omniverse, which includes everything. Including the DC comics multiverse.

    • RE: Question on NWoD combat

In CofD 2E, you do not technically make an attack roll in a grapple, even when you are inflicting damage, you make an opposed Strength + Brawl roll. @Coin's reasoning fails because you do not lose defense when you are grappled in either edition.

In regards to BITN and winning. Winning is keeping your loved ones safe. Winning is stopping the horrors out there from taking a life on this block, at least for now. Winning is making a difference and standing up for humanity. Ridding the world of BITN of the supernatural is simply not possible. The monsters don't present a unified front, there is no direct war to fight. There is only survival and trying your best to make the world a little better.

    • RE: Changeling: The Lost Update [CofD]

Also, people on BITN, they can also just stop hunting monsters. It isn't like a lot of CofD games where what you are defines you. Maybe the cost got too high. You can stop doing a thing much easier than stop BEING a thing.

I think high character death/turnover would help a lot with the last bit.

Do we have an example of a high death/turnover MU* which worked? And I define 'work' as in 'retained an active playerbase of more than a handful of people'.

It's not a rhetorical question, I don't know if we do. The successful games I can think of in this context were all ones the same characters were often played for more than a RL year each and involuntary PC death was infrequent.

      Dark Metal?

@Pyrephox I'm not saying BITN has a built in self destruct time limit, but I am also not saying I am a man who has never flaked out on a game.

MOAR BITCHING: I have come to realize there are some people in the community I don't care for. Nothing so much as like, hatred or disgust, just... I want to smack some people and or ignore them. That makes me feel bad.

In case you are wondering, it is you, the reader.

I have an addiction. I am not using any substance or anything, but I feel I am addicted nonetheless to a certain behavior. I am a frequent customer of strip clubs, and I need to stop.

In February alone I've spent close to $600 in these clubs. Sometimes I don't even enjoy myself, I just long for physical contact and/or a sexual touch. Sometimes I enjoy the fantasy or being charming or handsome, when girls are encouraged to feign interest in you to get that money.

I need to find a way to break this cycle. Starting today I am going to try and stop. Good luck, me.

That explains their combat system. Reverse Polish Combat Mechanics, throwing turn-based (jrpg) combat before the real-time inputs.

I have zero idea how much of that is a joke
