    • The State of the Chronicles of Darkness

I figured I would attempt to start a thread to compile various bits of information, gleamed primarily from theonyxpath.com via the blog and forums. Note that when I refer to world of darkness, I refer to the newest iteration, not the original.

      2nd Editions

As of Gencon 2014, the World of Darkness is moving into a set of 2nd Edition books, with updated rules and theme. Unlike previous editions, each line's core book will contain everything needed to play, though not as in depth as the seperate core rules, and only what is needed for that particular game. For isntance, Vampire the Requiem 2nd Edition skimps on rules for Angels and Spirits, as well as many merits.

What about GGd-Machine/Blood and Smoke/The etc Chronicles?

The books formerly referred to as Chronicles are being revamped, either before or after release, into 2nd Editions. For example, Vampire: the Requiem 2nd Edition is now available in place of Blood and Smoke: the Strix Chronicles. Content remains the same, just a new name and cover. Further titles will be 'featuring the whatever' Chronicles, ie Promethean: the Created 2nd Edition featuring the Firestorm Chronicles. The God-Machine Chronicles was released as a replacement/supplement to the core blue World of Darkness rulebook from 2004. The rules changes are still available for free, but relies on the older book. A revamped, consolidated "World of Darkness 2nd Edition" is set for release in 2015.

      Anthologies

Prior to each release of each game has been a fiction anthology. God-Machine, Strix, Idigam and Firestorm Chronicle Anthologies are all released These are just that - fiction, often a mix of old and new designed to reafirm the themes of the game and provide a look at their world.

      What is already out

      • Vampire: the Requiem 2nd Edition (Featuring the Strix Chronicles)
      • Werewolf: the Forsaken 2nd Edition (Featuring the Idigam Chronicles)
      • Demon: the Descent
      • Splintered City: Seattle (for Demon)
      • Heirs to Hell: the Demon Player Guide

What is coming out (Game lines)

      • Mage: the Awakening 2nd Edition (Featuring the Fallen World Chronicles)
      • Promethean: the Created 2nd Edition (Featuring the Firestorm Chronicles)
      • Changeling: the Lost 2nd Edition (Featuring the Huntsman Chronicles)
      • Beast: the Primordial
      • Hunter: the Vigil 2nd Edition
      • Deviant: the ??? (Scarcely announced new game line)

      What is coming out (supplements)

      • A Thousand Years of Night (VtR - covers the unlife of Elders)
      • Half-Damned (VtR - covers ghouls, dhampires, thralls, revenants and the like)
      • Secrets of the Covenants (VtR - Covers the 5 major covenants presented in the
VtR core rules in more depth, with both fluff and crunch)
      • Hurt Locker (Core WoD - Combat and all things related to such)
      • Dark Eras (All known lines except Beast and Deviant - Historical setting chapters for each game)

      What is NOT coming

2nd Edition versions of the following games have yet to be announced: Mummy: the Created, Geist: the Sin-Eaters.

The only restrictions we have on status are: I, personally, cannot have status 4+ in any organization (or any other headstaffer), you can start with up to 3 dots in status, and anyone with 4+ needs to do some OOC stuff to benefit the organization. The only change to any of that from launch was that I allowed non-headstaff types to not be status capped.

Why would I make everyone go through me to raise status on a sandbox type game anyway? Reno doesn't even require Renown justifications, and that hurts my soul.

Yeah, I didn't do everything perfect. I admit that, I always have. Myself and the people I worked with built what we hoped to be a fun game. We're working to make a place that is fun to play on. I even had a scene this year myself, so there's that.

I have mixed feelings about this advertisement about where the game is going.. its definitely a big case of... I'll beileve it when I see it..

Reno nearly died becuase of a lack of staff assistance in running things.. so if they are willing to pick up the slack unlike what they did before.. perhaps there is something to look forward to! Again though, I wouldn't recommend getting too invested.. but..

We are partially changing our path - Reno was meant to be a Sandbox at launch, not a staff running things for people type venue. We're working to bridge the difference a bit.

I personally would like to sound a recruitment call for Bruja and Giovanni. These two bloodlines will feature heavily in the upcoming Season and will be instant reasons for you to get involved.

What's a Season in this context?

See above - "A Season is a spherewide plot designed to impact the game and provide RP opportunities for the entire sphere, but also not last indefinitely."

For those wondering why I am actually bothering posting an ad, well, to promote our upcoming Season 1 of Requiem storyline!

Coming Soon: Requiem Season 1 - A House Divided

In the next week or so, we will be beginning our first "Season" on RenoMUSH. A Season is a spherewide plot designed to impact the game and provide RP opportunities for the entire sphere, but also not last indefinitely.

Our first Season will be for Vampire, and is entitled "A House Divided".

For four score years, the Kindred of Reno have been ruled, loosely, by an elected body - the Midnight Senate. This group has gone through changes three times, peaceful elections every 25 years.

Not even for the immortal Kindred, however, can things remain unchanged forever.

Tensions among the seven active Senators come to a head. A proposed change to Praxis law threatens war. Some of the Kindred of Reno are old enough to recall President Lincoln's paraphrasing of Jesus Christ - A House Divid Against Itself Cannot Stand. But when the Beast cries for vengeance, will the city ever be the same?

    • RenoMUSH - The Biggest Little Game on the Net

Reno, Nevada is a city of cycles. Growth and decay. Fortunes rise and fall. Happy little lives end in a quick spilling of blood. And behind the cracks of the World, the Darkness creeps in. RenoMush is a World of Darkness Storytelling game, combining elements of The World of Darkness with the Gamelines of Vampire: the Requiem and Werewolf: the Forsaken in a persistent online roleplaying environment.

Just as the Material influences the Shadow, and the Shadow impacts the Material, nothing on Reno occurs in a vaccuum. Little things cause small ripples, but everything has an impact. An argument in Elysium spawns a few rumors and bad blood. A Death Rage downtown? That brings in heat.

Reno does not have an ongoing metaplot, it is designed to be a dynamic world in which the players and the world impact one another. There is no stated goal besides telling cool stories.

The point is, your actions should matter. If you feel you have done something that should change the world, let us know. Did you kill a hobo in the street? Did you purge a hatred spirit from a trailer park? Did you blow up a bus full of nuns? Actions have impacts, and we aim to make it so that you can see your changes in the world.
