Are we risking Power Creep again?

Given that werewolves kind of got neutered in nwod and weren't ever the powerhouses they were supposed to be, I dunno that it qualifies as power creep. They didn't even meet the baseline before, outside of very specific examples, so it's more like power adjustment.

I'd have liked to see some of their innate abilities tied in scale to their proximity to pack, but I'm not sure how you'd do that in a way that wouldn't be a mess to deal with. I sort of like the idea that on a scale of one to ten with an adult human as a 3, an individual vampire is a 7 or 8, and an individual werewolf is a 5 or 6, but in a pack each individual werewolf is a 9 or 10 and thus a pack of them is off the chart. i.e. not just the threat of multiple assailants, but each individual assailant being boosted by the presence of the others.

That'd also serve to sort of preserve the Vampires Are Badass, as a lone wolf probably wouldn't want to tangle with a lone vampire, but even a group of vampires wouldn't want to tangle with a pack of werewolves, even if their numbers were even or slightly better.

Bonus points if it's something that could apply to non-werewolf pack members. Hell, even if it was just that you get a bonus to contested rolls or effective resistance traits when in proximity to or working directly with your pack mates. That'd also give mages more reason to be wary of antagonizing werewolf packs, if their pack bond made them more resistant to magical interference/influence/etc.

Vegeta, what's the scouter say about his power level?

Werewolf JUST came out, and I already have a vampire on Reno. I don't wanna make a guy there and start fucking up peoples faces. Not cool for a staffer!

My werewolf shall be a disgraced and fallen college athlete, whose anger issues and misguided attempts at doing the right thing ended him in a short prison stint and a loss of a possible professional career.

Somewhere between a bro and a biker, with a side of immense anger issues and giant muscles.

I haven't run any actual numbers or comparisons yet, but... I think the Uratha have a significant edge now. The ability to do lethal to vampires in any form, plus the healing and other bonuses of the forms...

The best weapon against a werewolf is Silver or supernatural aggravated damage. And even then, you need to be damn good. A high BP vampire in a frenzy, with Claws of the Unholy, will still tear a werewolf up (probably). But on average, Uratha are now the physical threat the fluff tried to sell them ass.

    • RE: Poll: Did you pay for most of your nWoD books?

I would say no, because I have managed to acquire books for games I don't really care about in my staffing and STing days.

I do own most of the WtF books and the entirety of core and 2nd Ed vampire legit.

It kills me inside when I am reminded that people still prefer the oWoD versions of Werewolf or Vampire. Mage was ok.

And @Bobotron, the Blood and Smoke was FreeRPG Day 2013. 2014 was an M20 thing.

I learned in a training course the other day that Severe Depression can be as life impairing as being paraplegic. Now imagine that someone has that level of disability, and will not allow you to help, that is probably a broken heart waiting to happen!

They know we exist - or at least that we did. I know there was mention of MU way back when in SOME book, probably oWoD. And during the Golden Age of WWGS, they of course had a much larger online gaming presence. A Palace Chat, New Bremen, etc. Hell I remember they used to have newsgroups.

Also, I don't believe OP markets to brick and mortar stores at all. The only products they ship to them, AFAIK, are demos for Free RPG day. And I don't think they even do that every year - don't see them on the list for 2015.

How large a market would you folks figure we (as in, the online-playing crowd) constitute compared to the exclusively table-top segment? I mean neither market is exactly bottomless or thriving, and I doubt there's any data to back this up - especially for us MU-players - but at a gut check how would the two compare?

Would it have been profitable for them or any other RPG-making company to adjust their product to take into consideration our kinds of games? I'm obviously not saying to gear them specifically for MU*, that'd be crazy, but to accommodate them in play-testing, official multisphere rulings, etc.

I am curious but really I don't have any true idea of how much of the playerbase online gamers represent. If I had to estimate, I'd say 10% as a generous high end. But that is just a guess with no factual basis.

@Three-Eyed-Crow, I am not a mental health professional, but I think Addiction is now considered a mental illness by the APA.

But you see a lot of addiction and mental illness in art because a lot of artists are addicts/mentally ill, as well as many of the "greats" which people emulate.

Ok, based on my understanding of the situation:

White Wolf no longer publishes Roleplaying games. They own the rights to the World of Darkness (and I believe Exalted).

The Onyx Path is an independent studio formed primarily of former WWGS employees and freelancers. Onyx Path has licensed (but does not own) the World of Darkness IPs (cWoD and nWoD). They also either own or license Exalted, and they own outright the rights to Scion and the Trinity-verse.

In short, WWGS no longer makes games, they just own them. Onyx Path is a new company that develops the games from the old WWGS IPs.

Also, OP only makes tabletop products, all LARP material is developed by 'By Night Studios'

That is one of the reasons I am trying to keep this thread up to date now, @Arkandel . They also have not had a significant WtF preview in many months, which is excessively frustrating. They really should hold back some on the open development window, I feel.
