@pacha said in Social Stats in the World of Darkness:

I will just also say with reference to social stats that (at least to me) posing your character as making these sweeping, dramatic, highly persuasive speeches when they are (as an example) presence 1, expression 1, is equivalent to posing your strength 1 character tossing around cars for fun.

If you don't have the social stats to support it then, in my opinion, your character has no business making those compelling speeches as it's simply not within their capabilities. Ignoring social stats means the game is no longer about our characters and role-playing what is on our sheets, but about which of us is the better writer or debater OOC-wise.

      THIS ALL DAY FOREVER.

Also RAW only Kindred can resist since it bases it on comparative Blood Potency but I imagine most STs in a crossover environment would sub relevant powerstat.

Actually I remember I did use the Investigation system on BITN quite a few times. It is sad that it (and Chases) are not in the gameline books.

I love the CofD system and wish people used it so written more.

Also at least in Requiem 2E you can attempt to resist the blood bond. But you will probably fail and/or end up a vitae addict.

Has any game actually used the Investigation system?

"Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see?"

Walt rises from the bed, standing to look down at Skler as he continues his speach.

"Do you know how much I make a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop going into work? A business big enough that it could be listed on the NASDAQ goes belly up."

He waives his right hand outward in emphasis at this point. "Disappears! It ceases to exist without me." His voice grows more intense and impassioned as he gestures towards himself. His voice is a gravelly cold sound coming from a face contorting with a mixture of rage and pride.

"No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger." A guy opens his door and gets shot and you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks!

      --

Skyler over at Walt on the end of the bed. "So we're going to call the cops right?"

@thenomain Chronicles of Darkness has a system that is able to work on PCs just fine, and even has a reward for Going Along AND the ability to say "no, but".

If you can beat a dude to death, you should be able to trick them.

But then, I am also much more invested in Tabletop these days.

Only if you take away the ability of people to use physical stats on other PCs as well.

      Back to important questions.

1 - @rdc did you approve promethean yet?
2 - Who is gonna play my BigTiddyGothGF?

The entire Chronicles of Darkness line is not really that well suited for a MU environment, in that they are designed with a ST and a small group. Without that, they lose their focus and become generic bickering supernatural in generic city. By night.

@killer-klown Honestly I'm not sure any of that requires staff attention. Players should be able and ready to tell those stories by themselves on a MU, or not app a Promethean.

Promethean is built with an expectation of heavy Storyteller involvement, a Promethean needs to interact with the world, walk the Pilgrimage, enact Roles, and experience Milestones. Sure player run stories are great, but you need to experience certain things and walk a certain road. Which likely needs a firm hand at the plot tiller.

Limited sphere size. Enforce a reason to stay in or be unable to leave the region. Have hurricanes help purge or be caused by Firestorms and thus be good cover. Realize the penalties are far lessened in 2E.

@coin This is still a good idea.

Also the Ventrue need a better martial bloodline than the Sons of Cade.

I'll msg you a link. @Ganymede and I did a lot of these for a different game. I don't know if G has worked on more since then, but I can send the ones I have.

I did the ones for The Descent, I did a bunch for the Dark Ages game I was working on, and I have a handful more from here and there. I'll send over whatever's appropriate for the theme and setting, although I generally recommend 3 for each Clan, and no more than that.

Which 3 would you recommend, and why?

@rdc Ask @coin if he is willing to share the shit we did for Reno. I don't have sole ownership but it was clearly dope.

Players are already expected to buy and/or download the book. Downloading chummer isn't the biggest hurdle, and it would make CG easier than self-coding it...right?

Fair. I wasn't even necessarily thinking Brotherhood, I just want to rip off either the Atom Cats or the Rust Devils, perhaps. And we know T-51 was deployed to "keep the peace" in annexed Alaska in the FO1 intro.
