    • Where to jump back in?

I've been away for so long (so long). But with the ouster of an old hobby and a bit of free time while I Xbox, I am looking for places to play or at least hang out.

Primarily CofD 2nd ed is my area of expertise. Other genres being Fallout, Cyberpunk and Shadowrun, Star Trek.

      What's good?

      So psych. Some questions.

Vehicles, will there be any? Canon has them working in places and they appeared in games. They are even implied in New Vegas and 4. Plus boats.

Power Armor, will players ever be able to have any?

What game(s) are you using as inspiration for your setting in regards to chems, armors etc?

I am familiar with 5E and can try and run plots and will definitely be parking on grid to just RP in the ambiance.

Add in that most mage plots ended up taking a very long time, due to the nature of mage (I have 30 different spells I could cast, let me think through each one, I take 15 minutes to do my turn in initiative).

I would say that is due to the nature of Mage players, personally. I ran a few small crime-fighting PRPs that took a fraction of the time.

Then again, my particular PC didn't rely on her magic. Her thought process:

      1. Is there a problem?

      2. If YES, can I destroy it with my fists and feet?

      3. If YES, destroy it; if NO, try to destroy it anyway, and catalogue success as a Mystery solved.

While that is a valid playstyle and from what I remember of your PC was pretty dope, sometimes you play a wizard because you wanna cast fuckin' spells

@thenomain I don't agree with your take on the sex stuff, Theno. Vampire Requiem is almost entirely about sex and power trips, and they didn't go 'Yeah, fucking!' on the Requiem book that I know of. Why? Maybe because they realize that it is a fruitless pursuit and that people will absolutely fuck in Gauru if they want to, cuz kinks.

@Bobotron Also, imo, Coteries need to end. Bad for MUs.

The 2nd non-fiction sentence in Requiem 2nd Edition is "Vampire is about sex and murder, about power and wild defiance."

It is very much up front about it now. Kindred are sexy movie Vampires. Strix are creepy folklore vampires.

My body is ready. I am going to assume this will go live whenever the Fallout 76 beta is to torment me.

    • RE: Best Superhero System for a Mush?

@bad-at-lurking said in Best Superhero System for a Mush?:

Icons and the dX system used in Silver Age Sentinels and The Authority come closest to that for me. I understand M&M has a lot of fans, but it is hobbled by the d20 heritage that honestly seems far too complex for a superhero game to me.

Though to be fair, the former does borrow a lot of concepts from Fate, which makes it less than ideal for MUs. As much as Aspects and such should be great for online play, they depend on a cooperative spirit among players. And good luck with that when running an open game.

Haven't gotten through the thread yet, but Silver Age Sentinels (along with BESM) is one of my favorite generic systems of all time.

@thenomain He's right, though I do believe you have to cause 1 death in order to beat Fallout 2. It just doesn't have to be through combat.

Depends how hard the UK had suffered during the Resource Wars. Much of Europe was pretty wrecked before 2077.

@ganymede IIRC there were both active and somewhat prolific Chinese spies and saboteurs as well as some degree of Chinese internment camps. Also the cool as heck Shi in Fallout 2 (mentioned in passing in FO4)

Yeah, you really need to focus on how ethnically diverse the setting is, when it's going to be 200 years in the future after a nuclear war devastates the entire planet.

It would make sense actually, especially from a Vault standpoint, to have a wide range of diversity. If a small group is meant to repopulate the planet, a genetic spread is vital.

That isn't actually what the Vault's were for.

I don't believe the Vault-Tec program had any locations in Annexed Canada. We know from The Pitt that a place called Ronto exists. Also there are probably NOT super mutants, unless the US had a secret FEV base up that way. There WERE Power Armor troopers dispatched to Canada for peacekeeping.

      Also what time period?
