I was totally disappointed and disgusted with GoT episode 5. Why?
Bringing seven characters together to go on an "adventure" under the most dubious of reasons.
Did they get someone from the X-Men series to write this crap?

(Sidenote: This is a guy who is involving in fringe radical groups and got thrown out of my house once for trying to teach my 7 year old that he was born racist for being white to the point my kid got upset. He's one step removed from an evangelical radical, and I'm posting this as a venting point because it has become clear to me now that his self-fulfilling agenda-based leadership ego has clearly taken a front seat to a 14 year friendship)
I thought you had to wait until college and pay to have your children indoctrinated with that bullshit.

One of the best, RIP Glen Campbell.

RE: Good TV
@SG I already watched it (crappy quality but I couldn't resist... plus that way I was immune to spoilers).
Holy shit.
Epic. I hope the GoT crew remakes 'Sparticus' except with dragons.

Tell them to pray for themselves until they figure out they aren't empowered to judge.
I seem to recall the Bible saying something about...
Then there was that time they dragged a man named Bill Cosby before Christ....

@WTFE That. When you have to go the slut-shaming route to try to discredit someone for something else, you've already lost the real argument.
I wouldn't be so hard on the wife. Sometimes men really are pigs.

My answer is a lot harsher. That article spent a good 2/3 of its verbiage on the sexual pasts of people in the company. That is a sign of weaksauce horseshit that they stirred a sexual scandal into to taint, as it were, the jury pool in the trial by media.
And that, all by itself, tells me the narrative being pitched is bullshit.
That article is from last year, before the current charade. I'm gonna have to side with the wife. I believe the guy really was mismanaging their cash and spending all their money on hookers. She was a smart cookie to find some rubes to sell off her half of the company. That might have been the end of it, but these new owners are apparently having similar difficulties with Mikkelson's reckless money management. Too bad for them.
I'm sure he won't spend the donation money on hookers. -

Of course you wouldn't. They routinely tear apart Republican claims.
Well there is that. But it's more the repeated accusations of embezzlement first from his ex-wife and now his new partners.

RE: RL Anger
@Misadventure I imagine the introduction of the Wilkinson "Bonded Shaving System" in 1970 and the very popular BIC disposable razor in 1974 reduced suicide rates as well.

RE: RL Anger
There have been studies about how easy access to guns increase the risk of suicide. This is a real thing.
Yeah and there is the oft heard.. "We had no idea they were suicidal, but had we known..."

Cause when I read...
"I rolled my eyes, but inside I'm the weak ass fuck who doesn't have the heart to tell them that, you know, if I'd had a gun available at certain times in my life, I probably would have shot myself in the fucking head with it."All kinds of red flags come up.
Maybe learn not to hate? Get help?I'm saying hate fox news and the republican propaganda machine instead of focusing that on themselves.
Oh yeah that's probably it. They need to focus and nurse that hate. Hate trumps love.
Then when they feel depressed, they can steal their sisters gun, turn on Hannity and shoot the TV.
But don't turn on FBN and shoot Maria Bartiromo because I like her. /sOr maybe they should turn off msnbc news and the democrat propaganda machine that stokes that hate.
Maybe learn not to hate? Get help?
Shooting people that are causing you severe distress isn't irrational.
Sure, but I prefer to act irrationally. I've always liked how Tolstoy put it:
'Reason discovered the struggle for existence, and the law that requires us to oppress all who hinder the satisfaction of our desires. That is the deduction of reason. But loving one's neighbor reason could never discover, because it's irrational.'@surreality said in RL Anger:
Or maybe it's just as simple as being uncomfortable knowing there are guns in the house when you're not sure that in a moment of crisis, you wouldn't turn it on yourself, and you would be relieved if the gun was not so readily available to you because you have the self-awareness to recognize that you experience these moments of crisis in your life and want to stay away from things that could make it very easy to make impulsive and irreversible decisions in ways many other things do not allow for with such relative ease. (And you probably don't want those other things around much, either, for the same reason.)
Goddamn, people. That is in no fucking way political.
I think you're correct about that.

I really hate my family sometimes. And I hate myself for not being able to be a bitch to them.
The fact that your family has normalised cruelty (because conservatism has) to the point that you hate yourself for not being cruel is saddening.
Point your hate at those who deserve it, not yourself.
Are you actually suggesting they shoot their family instead of themself?
Cause when I read...

RE: RL Anger
Discovering that at least one of my co-workers is a pro-Trump, anti-immigration, men's rights activist means I'm not even sure I'm going to be able to look at him, much less talk to him.
Whatever happened to "love trumps hate"? You should date him.

RE: RL Anger
@Tyche: I have a 68 lb greyhound. It makes bathing him myself difficult. As for why take care of his nails, greyhound nails require a dremel, and I don't feel comfortable risking hurting my dog when I'm notoriously clumsy with power tools.
I had an 80lb chocolate lab, so I understand the difficulty. We used the bath tub for the lab. In the summer, I often used a kiddie pool outdoors, which was much fun for all.
Now greyhounds were invented long before dremels, so it's really not a required tool.
They do make nail clippers for large dogs, however using a nail file is often safer and more dogs will tolerate it,
but it takes longer. Also, that money isn't just going to a store, but to the rescue for its kennel upkeep and so they can rescue more dogs.
All things considered, it was YOU who actually rescued the dog, because you're the one paying for its upkeep (and on a limited budget).

RE: RL Anger
@Cupcake Why do you pay to have this done? I've always bathed and cut my dogs' nails myself.
The only time I take them in is to get them hair cuts, maybe twice a year. -

I live in effing Columbus. Would you like to see our corn statues? Our field of cows within throwing distance of downtown? How about Origins, the Gen-Con Wannabe?
I'm going to Origins tomorrow.
My bunker is just outside of Oberlin, where I can keep a close eye on those crazy Oberlin College SJWs.
I'm going to Origins on Saturday. That's the one convention some of our TT group attends with our wives.
About 5 or 6 of us guys go to Gen Con every year. We also go down to Columbus every February and
stay in Easton and hold our own little 2 day "convention" where we play RPGs all day and imbibe large
quantities of beer.
