Pathfinder. Staff are friendly, and whilst it suffers from what a most MU*'s do (people lurking OOC/or in private rooms) there are a lot who will RP with a bit of a push, and a lot of events going on.

I finally got to see it. I have to agree. It was bloody awesome. I was so worried they were gonna bomb it, but they really pulled through.
Although, goddamn, Carrie got old.
And Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill didn't?

So much this. I have only recently been introduced to the glory of Eclipse Phase and so much
Seriously. I just read through it again and I want this so bad it hurts me in my soul. I'd pay to host this, if any of you wacky coders want to make my dream come true of having a place where you can play an uzi-toting cyborg octopus on Mars.
Apparently there is a coded place out there, but has been abandoned

RE: Fading Suns
One big problem is an individual house doesn't fuck with the Charioteers at that level IIRC.

My attempts to get back into gaming have come to a screeching halt largely due to the themes I'm interested in being run by control-freak PC Principle staff, or the game being 20-40 idlers who use it as a 'chat with friends from work' venue, then try to cram in a late night session amongst themselves. Newcomers are greeted with a long hoop-jumping justification process only to be turned out into the desolate idler wasteland where their cries of "Anyone want to scene?" echo into the void.
I think the hobby's about done. It had a good run while it lasted.
What themes are you interested in?

RE: Fading Suns
I can't remember which admin it was, but it was towards the end of Vargo. Anyway I got the distinct feeling that whatever my character did they had a story they wanted to tell their way and I was pretty much window dressing. And sure enough none of my chars actions mattered for shit.

Honestly I would love a Fading Suns game that ignored the political stuff. What i love about the setting its the ability to do planetary romance adventures. I want to ride a horse and swing a sword while ray gun beams glance off my plasti-steel armor. Save the day, rescue princesses.
Maybe it is just my table top roots but I have ran three and played in two Fading Suns campaigns and they were never political heavy even with noble heavy pc groups. Sure the state of politics provided a back drop and motivation but the focus was on the action. I would love any Fading Suns game but would really love one that focuses on adventuring rather then having my adventure knight character be the odd exception. So much this.

RE: Characters: What keeps you?
I tend to suck at playing characters long term, but what does make me stick with a char is having something to do. As long as it doesn't get too overwhelming (Like when Brigit was getting three sets of recurring dreams from three different plots, or Branwen trying to keep track of a half dozen plots at once)
But aside from that basically feeling useful and having something to do makes me stick with characters. Also having one that is fun to RP, and cool people to bounce off.

RE: RL things I love
I have been stressing for weeks about being invited to speak before a state government hearing on end of life choices. Would they be kind or would I get some kind of inquisition? Would I be able to remember all my points? and get them out without choking up to often? etc etc etc
I am glad to say it went really well. I felt I spoke too fast but the committee members and secretary were all lovely and awesome, and actually came up afterwards to thank me in person for my testimony. And I hit all my points.
Also got a tour of the State Parliament house, which was built in the Victorian era when we had a bunch of money from the gold rush. Very pretty and now I have a huge weight of my shoulders, and hopefully something will come of it all.
