I am staring down the barrel of losing my day job income; I'm perfectly capable of doing tutoring online and globablly and you'd THINK there would be an uptick, but a) parents think they know more than anyone else and b) with teachers online, I'm looking a bit redundant. This is going to be really bad.

Bad TV
I did the laziest of searches for a bad TV topic and found nothing so.
I watched maybe 1/256th of an episode of Encore on Disney+
And literally screamed NOPE NOPE NOP as I turned it offI can't think of a sadder premise, oh my god.

RE: RL things I love
We premiered today!! This bugger has taken its sweet, sweet time and I'm very glad it's out in the ether.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
Okay! Mea culpa - I was wrong to think this was a bigger deal for liege houses. I figured the loss would be a bit of a hit.
Maybe it is for smaller houses, as Roz said?

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@AeriaNyx said in Arx's Elevation Situation:
I think the biggest hurdle there is not communicating OOCly.
Oh my god, do we agree?!

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
Literally nowhere have I said they shouldn't be able to grow.
My question is: how do we enable this without punishing others.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@Sunny Ah, my comment wasn't aimed solely at you -- I just don't want this to derail into OMG VELENOSA PRAVUS because truly, that's not what this is about. It's about how to style a game so no one feels like rugs are pulled out from under them one way or another.
ETA: I don't necessarily think that's the right solution either. But there has to be a way to play the game where liege houses aren't knuckle rapped AND ambitious lower houses aren't told "stay in your lane THE END" all the time.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
I have raised this issue several times via @request BEFORE this current elevation question so this really isn't all about Pravus.
I know we all have Pravus on our brains but I'd like to keep this discussion constructive -- hence its place in the boards, away from the other Arx threads -- and it doesn't need to focus on that one house.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@Sunny They lose income and prestige, as I understand it. I know they certainly lose income.
But I think my point is being lost:
If the game is going to, and @Apos wants the game to, move in a direction that sees these elevations + loss for the liege houses and we DON'T want to play out political consequences or whatever in a way that stomps people's fun as they build their houses, we also need to address that liege houses -- whatever liege house -- suffers a loss because of it.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@Sunny the problem comes with the liege houses losing because they didn’t crash all over someone. And that seems like poor game design— you don’t want to punish for that.
If theme becomes: and you’re ALL duchies! You know. Whatever. Little weird, but ok.

RE: Arx's Elevation Situation
@Jeshin I never once said there was a plot reason or RP reason for elevations.
I'm not concerned with why people want to elevate. I'm concerned with how to help liege houses not become everyone's enemy.

Arx's Elevation Situation
I wish we could have a constructive discussion about elevations. It seems like a problem in general that I know I've pointed out and been kind of handwaved away but it's bled into an OOC problem as well. At some point we'll just be 100% PC great houses (or duchies but like, you get my HYPERBOLIC POINT) and I guess that's fine? but that doesn't seem like what the game was written to be.
It can't be the job of liege houses to make sure their vassal houses don't get too big. That fucking sucks. It punishes the liege house by making them stomp on RP and they become the bad guys to everyone.
There is also NO incentive NOT to start to jump up the chain, so you're just blindly punishing the liege house by taking away their vassals + income because they DIDN'T jump all over someone's RP fun times. Again, that sucks.
So like, what do we do?

RE: RL things I love
@Roz Congrats!!!
Thing I love: my perfect dog was so well behaved when I helped a woman carry laundry from the 'mat to her apartment. It was more than a few blocks and she just trotted merrily along with us and was completely chill.

People who jerk their whole heads back when they take pills. What is wrong with you? Why is this a fucking production? Just swallow.
