The new manager at my gym is a seeping penis and I think I may quit. Fuck you, seeping penis.
Pillboi was my improv teacher & I love that he's crushing it.
Worrying yourself into inaction.
I'm running a special offer on my Patreon right now -- anyone who joins at $5+ by November 28th is invited to a Q&A livestream with me. I'll be pretty candid about the industry, creating shows, writing processes, acting processes, and if you've ever been curious what goes into making your favorite TV / film, it might be interesting!
@arkandel
You can give a producer (and writers. and directors.) $50 mil and expect them to do talking scenes and do them well because that is their job. You can also expect the writers to find analogous ways to tell the story that are visually interesting IN ADDITION to embracing episodes or moments that are smaller; that is their job.
Arrival was one of the weirdest scripts I've ever read. "How are they going to make this" was lobbed around a LOT. And the answer is: find a director who gets it. That's always the answer. I don't think anything is inherently unfilmable or unwatchable, you just have to find a key that fits that lock.
Sitting through a TERRIBLE rendition of a scene you actually auditioned for for real (and killed it) in a workshop/class setting. Holy shit.
@sg so the one not so great show? Not really a strong comparison.
@three-eyed-crow I am too! My buddy was on it ...last season or the season before & that always rips me out, so it took a few stellar episodes to wrangle my way back in. The acting on it is always a masterclass.
@arkandel do yourself a favour and stop after completing season 1. The next season is really poorly done-it feels like an AMC show now.
AMC? You mean the home of prestige television like Breaking Bad, Halt & Catch Fire, Better Call Saul...
@sockmonkey today was my friday!

I used to use Atlantis' MUSH text editor when I played on Firan but it doesn't seem to work properly for me anymore. This is okay as it doesn't have 256 colors.
FWIW, Atlantis 2 has an Evennia-friendly 256-color editor that can output both Evennia and MUX2 style color codes, does gradients for fills and so on.
(Of course, I need to actually finish Atlantis 2.)
Dear sweet god, please release Atlantis 2
So - I think at least some of these things will be up some of your alleys. I'm a writer/actor in L.A. and I've made a few things that I think you guys might enjoy.
Classic Alice - the story of a girl who lives her life according to different books of classic literature. We had an AMAZING two year run on YouTube and are now on Amazon. 5 star reviews always loved, if you enjoy.
Not a Plan - two idiot friends try to plan a birthday party. More sketchy, less EPIC TWO YEAR LONG run; much shorter than CA!
The Long Dig - this one is definitely a gamer's movie. We adapted a short film from Electric Purple Studio's upcoming Aeronauts tabletop RPG. It's release date is TBD (2018, we hope), but I post lots of updates and sneak peeks to:
patreon.com/katehackett - which is just a tip jar / place to stay in touch if you like the work I do. I also do a #FemaleFilmmakerFriday post every week here and one every month at http://youtube.com/katehackett
So those are the things. Let me know if you dig them. Don't tell me if you hate them, I don't caaaaare.
On Firan, I got really lucky with the majority of my character's IC romances and marriages. I had a great story on one alt full of angsty drama that culminated in a nice romantic ending that went on until I left the game. The player and I were also great friends, a relationship that developed as we RP'd together. I came off roster married to a character who had a player who was a friend and when he rostered, the next player became a pal. Then I had a character who was involved with ANOTHER OOC friend - we were lucky enough to app both at once. Had a blast.
Then fucking Ana approved Custodious for him and I rostered immediately.
I, too, have jumped into Arx. I really like the game and the atmosphere they seem to have built so far, and I'm enjoying bumping into people. If you're around, please say hi!
Saoirse.
@kanye-qwest I think that's an entirely fair assessment, especially as my time on the game marched on.
Mean girl shit has no excuse and never has; that's not who I've ever wanted to be. I'm sorry I was that person to you.
@deadculture Thanks! I love dark, so that sounds just up my (dark) alley.
@deadculture nods That happened with me too, but with writing & producing stuff. I learned some valuable skills playing Firan (more like, watch & don't do from a lot of people), like how to be a leader and listen as well as get shit done, but they weren't solidified when I was there. I'm sure some of that's just age too, god, we were babies!
Been poking around the gaming world again a little -- for VERY VERY CHILL PLACES. Like, you do not have to be on 24/7 places.
@deadculture I don't disagree. Hopefully you're doing well, wherever you landed!
