RE: RL Anger
Oops! Didn't know, sorry!
ETA: Fixed! Sorry! Only char I ever played with her that I knew was a guy, I totally didn't mean to be rude.
I don't mind!

RE: RL Anger
I'd rather give an addict money than learn that he or she committed a crime to get that money and those drugs.
@surreality what. are you. talking about?
-
RE: RL Anger
@insomniac7809 Except according to the story the guys specifically said ' few dollars he could have to get something to eat.'
It's probably pretty demeaning to have someone over you shoulder while you decide what to get.

RE: RL Anger
this thread is turning into a nice ol litmus test for the block button over here.

RE: RL Anger
If they are good at preying on the guilt-ridden, so be it; maybe they are Catholic.
How dare.
ETA:
I'm willing to concede that Square is a weird thing to ask a stranger to use. I don't think that was the heart of this whole argument though.

RE: RL Anger
I bow to others' knowledge of Square; I have none. And I think Ghost's card security point is very well made.
But.
The crux of this conversation has been: poor people aren't allowed to have XYZ technology and if they do they don't deserve my help.
And: no.

RE: RL Anger
It's a terrible opinion and not rooted in fact at all.
That cell phone is likely the ONLY computer that person has access to. Which means it is how he or she applies for jobs. Which means it is how he or she can hope to elevate him or herself out of poverty.
Begrudging people asking for money that assistance because you don't like that they've adjusted to accommodate our increasing reliance on non-cash transactions is reprehensible. It's disgusting.
@surreality -- I admittedly don't know the square hoops, so "fair enough", perhaps, to that. But still: it's not our job to police people when they ask for help. If we can help, great, do that. The end. What they use it on and how they choose to spend the assistance given is not our business.

RE: RL Anger
@Darren Why is this "worse" or "bad" at all?
Fair warning, I'm about to pull out my soapbox on this.

RE: Good TV
Yeah, we're all spinning in circles flailing our arms about this right now .... and for the past four years. But right now in particular.

RE: RL Anger
@mietze I'm not big time but I can sometimes get some good traction on Twitter. If you point me to the story, I'll retweet the shit out of it.
-
RE: RL Anger
@Ghost They ticket but they don't seem to tow for it. Maybe I'll start asking.
Signed,
NeighborhoodKaren, who is sick of your shit.

RE: RL Anger
@wahoo Yanno...
...a good/concerned citizen might identify this car in the fire lane as a risk to the safety of their neighborhood and report it, lest it result in an obstruction that could keep a fire truck from saving lives were there an emergency.
Wouldn't want good people to get hurt, yea?
I do.
Every day
It is obnoxious.

RE: RL Anger
I am about to fucking lose my mind with my garbage ass neighbors who seem to think that the fire lane outside the building is an ACCEPTABLE PLACE TO PARK.
These are people who ordered a THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR dolce & gabbana (sp?) shirt for --
A TODDLER.
A TOD. D L. ER.

Sliding back to Carnival Row...
I’m having a REAL HARD TIME with the fairies all being Irish. I thought maybe it was a commentary, looked it up, and no. The actress just thought it was a “cool idea”. 🤯
why are all your immigrant refugees Irish? In a world of English people. Y I k e s.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Why are you posting pics of you AND YOUR MATES on Bumble when your MATES ARE HOTTER THAN YOU.

RE: Good TV
I dissent your dissent
That's not how this works.
Just saw the list of voice actors for the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and nearly wet myself.
Not with urine, mind.
I don't think I've seen a finer cast assembled ever.
My only worry is how many of them have never done voice acting before (or done very little) and how many actors become 'Famous, Recognizable Person providing voice over for <character>.'
Mark Hamill (who I was pleased to see on the list, mind!) is sort of unique in that he's a damn fine VA, but also a fairly big name actor.
I can very resolutely promise you that these actors very well likely HAVE done plenty of VO work ...they just didn't issue a credit for it.
VO work pays the bills for a fuckloadton of actors. VO work is also often nonunion.
But who's to say if that's your voice if you don't take a credit for it...
