@songtress Months or years are what I am looking for for permanent things to be fully fleshed out. Resource sinks, sense of ownership, my shiny is better than your shiny, all that sort of thing

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
My thinking is that an existing city would tie concepts too closely to whatever is in the region and setting things somewhere new would allow everyone from everywhere a place, thought places like the White Tower and the Farm, etc may still be coded ElseWhere where they will likely frequent use, the focus would be on the new place.
I am picturing it as something like the war camps from the Stormlight series. At first everyone starts out in tents, but as the game progresses and different factions want to invest more they can redesc with buildings, etc. Let the players shape the game and all.
I have a very rough idea for a faction/Great Game system that I need to try and flesh out more, but if I can pull it off I think folks will really like

If you know Wikidot, you should be able to Areswiki pretty easily.
I am woefully unfamiliar with anything wiki related. I'll get there eventually but if someone with Wikidot or Ares wiki experience wants to poke at stuff I won't say no

RE: In development: pure OC superhero game
1930s is Great Depression and end of Prohibition, but mostly Great Depression

RE: Dice Mechanics
@arkandel That's my feeling too. The place I'm working towards will have descriptors for difficulty, not numbers (easy, hard, 80s Action Movie, etc)
But behind the scenes?

Dice Mechanics
What are you favorites?
Roll and keep? straight D(whatever) vs difficulty? DSS style where you roll random number from 1 to Difficulty? Etc

RE: In development: pure OC superhero game
I think I'm like the rest so far. Superhero OCs are good. 30-40s not much of a draw. Bonus being able to punch Nazis?

Went with finesse. It's what I was looking for.
Anyone want to help muck around to prettify a wiki?
Maybe someone with experience with ares wiki. maybe.

I need a word to describe skill with the One Power. Not raw power, but how nimble and practiced you are with it... one that isnt' Talent since that has another meaning

RE: Using an SSD as cache (Windows 10)
But why? If you're already using an SSD there will be no benefit. You'll just be copying from one ssd to another

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
I actually have both running on the server right now but probably leaning towards Ares just because it's so slick out of the box. I am curious to see how web chargen willl go once I rip out and replace FS3 though.
I would still prefer to code in Python instead of Ruby, but it's a lot of extra coding in evennia to get it to functionality already in Ares. I haven't made a decision 100% one way or another so we'll see what happens once I'm done the system design phase.

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
Update:
I'm at the white boarding systems phase. I think I have gotten the basics of non-channeling specific stats and physical combat pretty well roughed out.
Next up is channeling and how to merge channel vs channel combat with physical

So can you really blame people to not want to fall flat on their face for no narrative reason other than a fickle die roll?
It can quickly become more like one of those "cat forgets how to cat" gifs than a good part of a story.
Couple real life examples of botched rolls though:

Who's running it?
They're sane and very nice people. They just have a vision for the game system and theme that may not match others and are rather inflexible in this, at least that is how it was before.

Who hasn't watched Anastasia like 7 times in 7 days and went 'that'd be an awesome setting for a MUSH'?! (I have a 4 y/o daughter okay)
I admittedly have never thought this when watching the movie (though i haven't done a 1/day marathan for a week). Does make me consider a re-watch to try and see what you saw for potential.
I would lean towards setting option 1 though. I'm not a fan of the FF games, but the magitech punkish theme is always good.
I'm wary of the term "prized and rare" from a game design perspective though. The old "everyone is a Jedi or no one is" conundrum.

RE: What Is Missing For You?
There is a Dresden Files MU out there: http://www.tenebrousisles.com/wiki/Main_Page
It's a modified DFRPG and a slightly modified version of the setting, but it's there
