Man. The Boys is going really hard on the blatant political commentary this season and I'm enjoying it. I think that was the thing I disliked the most in the first season, that it didn't feel like it had much to say beyond a really nihilistic take on superheroes, so this was nice. I am very excited for the season finale.
Membership itself is free!! But yeah, getting the card is basically just an excuse to put money towards their activism efforts. FeelsGood.gif
I got my official membership card and certificate today and omg, they are more beautiful in person than I dared imagine
Yeah it's not the same team making He-Man, but crossover was def a possibility, at least in 2019!!
I am so angry I am shaking. Our new neighbor and his family were outside when my son went out to play in the yard by himself, and when Kiddo saw the dude wasn't wearing a mask he said that he should, and the guy cussed him out. A grown man, to an eight year old kid who was just trying to make sure everyone was safe.
Kiddo didn't confront him and came home right away, and I've tried to make sure he understands that he's not at fault and I'm glad he did not get upset back, but I do not know what to do with my anger. Confronting the asshole would be pointless at best, I already know this. Just...goddamn it, I fucking hate people sometimes.
The tiny little feet kill me every time I look at this.
Same feels: old flames who keep popping into my life, so we can both experience the joy of rediscovering why they were old flames.
Gdi I just want to meet someone new

I mean wouldn't a French art house Trek be kind of amazing tho
I think David Lynch did this in like the 90s, are we talking about original Twin Peaks at this point?
One day, my Captain's Log will have something to say about this.

it really is terrible how studios keep doing things that make money so they can keep making more movies i mean god they should just go full french art house ugh

I just find it annoying how people are unable to broaden the narrative possibilities for a franchise/fictional universe;
They're not broadening the possibilities, though. That would imply a larger framework that included the original spirit of the franchise while branching out, but the entire reason people get upset about the latest films/series is that the studios have abandoned that spirit entirely to "explore" ground that has already been covered -- and frankly, covered way better -- by other franchises.
Waving that off as tired fanboy whining isn't fair, and I say that as a fervent fan of other big, loud, nihilistic sci-fi properties. I appreciated what made Trek unique and I don't see it anymore.
I wasn't speaking for you, I was playing off your words.
But as for giving it a rest, nah. I'm as free to express my distaste as you are to disagree, and jumping down my throat about it is just fuckin' rude. Chillax, my dude.

Should I be yelling at the damn kids to get off my lawn?
Yes.
Let Star Trek be something that doesn't conform to your expectations.
Sheesh.
In other words, "lower your expectations."
Trek is this big, loud, nihilistic, generic sci-fi franchise now just like everything else, because that's marketable to the broadest demographic, and that's what's most important to the studio at the mo'.
Like, I'm not even a diehard Trekkie and I'm still disappointed to see the direction they've taken it. It deliberately looks, sounds, and feels like everything else out there now and that's lame.
The mobile version of the site doesn't have spoiler tags, sorry. I'll try to fiddle with it.
ETA: Thar we go.
***Lovecraft Country Ep 4 Stuff***
Still not sure how I feel about the show though.
It's not rocket science. He's got two, you pick one, easy peasy lemon squeezy.
My son and I binged the show over the course of like 3 days during the summer and IT IS SUCH A BEACON IN THESE DARK TIMES
I love it. He and I are constantly geeking out and quoting Swift Wind, who we've decided would be our bestest friend
There was a thread here a couple of years back about the themes in World of Darkness games and how much any group in particular likes to dive into or approach darkness, and the general consensus at the time was that there should always be some element of light or hope, as opposed to unrelenting grim-grimdark.
That is my jam, especially lately.
It's like this guy got hit in the forehead with an aluminum bat and he keeps slipping into and out of a coma with amnesia.
For the love of god or satan or whatever, at least switch up the routine a little. It's just boring at this point.

But what gets them every time is that it's command line based. The moment I tell them you have to type in commands "like a DOS prompt,"

When people who like to RP but don't like to MU* prompt me for an argument for why they should give MU*ing a shot (aside from 'they have command lines', which, as it turns out, is the exact opposite of an argument to most of those people),
..........could you possibly be.....no, no.......
@cyberdemon said in Selling people on MU*'s strikes me as impossible:
I'm actually arriving at the view that I should be making a project that takes heavy inspiration from the game design choices of MU*'s -- like how rooms connect in a graph rather than in a strict geographic formation, or mobs and inventories, and so on -
@Duke-Nukem said in Getting Young Blood Into MU*'ing:
Going from one room to the next like they're nodes in a graph creates a psychological sense of geography. Having items which have descriptions and mobs with the same, plus weird little coded doodads that have their cute little behaviors is compelling,
