I highly recommend going with this D6 Revised, Expanded, and Updated. I did up a c-gen in a weekend for fun. It's super simple and this edition is obviously free for all to use.

RE: FFG Star Wars?
I was playing around with a FFG c-gen system. I've been pondering trying to do something small, possibly semi-private, to satisfy my SW fix. If there were enough people interested I could set a place up for us to meet and discuss things or whatever.

RE: Someone should do a Faerun game.
Now I'm gonna have to dig out my Birthright stuff. I'd forgotten about that game. That and Council of Wyrms.

RE: Discussion - RPG System For OC Hero Game
@bad-at-lurking I think Palladium gets a bad rap. I've been playing Rifts and Heroes Unlimited since the 80s and love them to death.

RE: Which console to buy
I don't think that's an easy question to answer. I own both and they are both have their upsides and their downsides. If you use it for entertainment at all the XBox One might be a good bet. When I had satellite I had it piped through the XBox One and the voice commands worked really well with it. The ability to just say "XBox On" and have it turn on my satellite, TV, and XBox was really convenient.
That said my primary system is the PS4. I'm not a FPS type person either so Halo is no draw for me. Bloodborne, however, was. It does cheese me off that the new Tomb Raider is an XBox One exclusive but whatever.
My suggestion? Look at the list of exclusive games for each console and decide which list you like better.

RE: Where to play?
I'm not nearly as active there as I'd like to be but I'll throw in another voice for Gray Harbor. Great game filled with great people.

RE: FFG Star Wars?
The good thing about SW D6 is some amazing fans completely re-did the Revised version of the rules and created this Star Wars: Revised * Expanded * Updated.

RE: POLL Gothic Fantasy System
Just thought of Warhammer 2nd Edition too.

RE: King of Sex Mountain
@TiredEwok Why can't it be both? LOL Though, honestly, most games end up being 40% TS anyway why not just be upfront about it?

RE: Critters!
Not all my critters are furry with 4 legs. Some are furry with 8. This is Gmork. Currently my largest tarantula. I have another named Barda, however, who will grow up to be almost a foot across.

RE: Where to play?
As I've said, I'm not as active as I'd like to be but I have a blast there with my character. I actually very much enjoy it as a smalltown simulator. Maybe I just gravitate towards that style of RP, however. I also play on a currently closed/private game with a similar type of theme(just set in the 1980s) but the players are all humans living in a world filled with supernatural horrors and I have a blast there too. Might just be a preference thing.

RE: FFG Star Wars?
I've got a place a friend and I have been hanging out on where I build the D6 c-gen. Let me pretty that place up a bit and then I'll post the link and if people want to come over and discuss what to do with the place then groovy. I'll try to get to it tomorrow.

X-Men Game
So I've been hearing whispers of an X-Men game that may or may not be getting off the ground. It's been ages since I've been on a good X-Game so now I'm curious about it. It seems that it's mostly in the planning stage and someone suggested creating a thread to discuss it so...here it is.
I'd be more than willing to jump on and help with an X-Game (hosting, coding, etc) if it seems like one is going to get off the ground. So what would you want to see in an X-Game or what was the X-Game I kept hearing about supposed to be about?

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
I've tried a few times to get an OC game going and they never go anywhere. I've done a trait-based game and I've brought Empire Bay up multiple times and we get maybe one or two regulars. Even running regular scenes didn't help. Though that's another thing that bites my butt about people who say "we need more scenes run!" and then never show up but that's for another thred.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
I second what @Macha said. The two movies are so close in terms of quality I can't decide which one I like better. And Michael Pena does steal the show a bit.

RE: FFG Star Wars?
My FFG stuff isn't as polished as D6 stuff but give me an extra day and I'll see if I can get it do a usable level.

RE: X-Men Game
So the things I'm seeing seem to be the following...
1: Base it on the comics instead of the movies/tv shows (which is fine by me).
2: There is some debate on whether it should be X-only or more inclusive.
3: Should it just be the X-Men or also include other factions (The Brotherhood, the Hellfire Club, Etc.)
4: Continuity. Start fresh (Year 1/Ultimate) or pick a cutoff point or x-reality(Utopia, 90's X-Men, Age of Apocalypse)? For me I'd want it based on the comics for sure. I'd be fine keeping it X-only but if we could find a way to fit other types in I would not be opposed to it. I'd also like to at least keep the door open for other groups like The Brotherhood or the HFC. As for continuity...I don't know. I'm not all that up on X-stuff post 90's/early 2000's but I'm not sure most people would enjoy a Year 1 style game so...
Anyway, these are the threads I'm picking up on. Anything else?

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
@Staricide When we were setting up our design goals for that 80s horror MU we touched on almost everything you mentioned above.
1a) Peak time being outside of YOUR peak time. That's one of the reasons we went with Ares. It has a fantastic scene system that allows you to create a scene and pose at your leisure either on the game or from the web. Our beta test group is from all over the U.S. so when us folk in the E.T. are ready to RP the people over in California are generally still at work. So this allows us to "poke away" at scenes over the course of a day or two if we need to. You can also seamlessly transition from web, to game, back to web as needed using the scene system. It's really fantastic.
1b) Ares also gives a ton of features that allows you to stay connected to the game even when you can't be connected through an MU client. Through the web portal you have access to MU channels, mail, PMs, and jobs. For me it allows me to keep up with stuff during breaks at work and what not.
2A) One of my own issues with getting into new games is breaking through the "clique barrier" or slipping into RP with characters who already have a reason to be tight with one another. Now, I don't use clique in a negative term. It's natural for bonds to form between players and characters that have been on the game longer than you have. It can be frustrating, however, trying to find a way to ingratiate your character without feeling like you're horning in. As staff we felt it as our duty to create organic methods for new players to slip right in with established players.
A: We opted for a small/medium sized town for our setting. This gives everyone a chance to know everyone else or to have coincidental meetings that don't seem forced.
B: We are creating a lot of RP hubs that will encourage certain themes/character concepts(hospitals, PD, fire department, a high school) and locations for players to live and be immediate neighbors with other players(themed neighborhoods, apartment complexes, cul-de-sacs, etc).
RP Hooks. All characters are required to list a number of RP hooks that other players can see and maybe use as inspiration for a character or find out how their character may be able to interact with other characters.3A) As for non-small talk scene access, we're hoping that the above points will help give people tools to naturally break that barrier. We're also a semi-sandbox game so if you have an idea(or see an idea posted on the forums) for a plot, have a few people who want to play that plot, then we give you the tools to run and manage that plot as you see fit(within reason of course).
Anyway, those are the design goals we used to combat the points you made above. Any other ideas of what we(or anyone who is creating a game) could do to help ease new players into an established game?

RE: FFG Star Wars?
I'm still tidying up the FFG place I have. Been slow going this week as I've been grinding out the Global Event in The Division. I'm rearranging some aspects of c-gen and prepping it for Edge of the Empire careers and specializations (right now it's geared entirely to Force and Destiny). I should have it in a state where it is fit to be seen by tomorrow.
