Or if there's controversy with funding of the local police benevolent foundation's annual celebration, that could be "Police Ball's Depp in Trouble."

@ixokai Actually, I was making a character (was in the middle of chargen) and did not make it in before it was marked full. I put myself in for a +job that slowed down my app, and missed the deadline. Gabriel was very nice about it and assured me I'd get to move forward...eventually, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm still sitting in chargen with no character. 😕

@egg Then make a different character? Save the Tier you want to use for the Mage, on the Mage, when you can.

Until then there are other sphere's open? The reasoning for the closing of chargen for Mage and Changeline are good ones. They literally /cannot/ devote enough time to any larger of a sphere and still get stuff done. Does it suck? Sure, but just like you can't really do 25 people in TT with reasonable expectations of much of anything... Limits for the good of the game are still for the good of the game.

@lithium Sure, I get it, it all makes sense, sound reasoning, etc. etc. No one's arguing that. Sadly, I don't have ideas for characters in the open spheres. Changeling and Mage are popular for a reason. I'm not faulting staff for anything in particular, just expressing a bit of personal disappointment.

Whenever a new game opens, there's that enthusiastic rush of players and applications. But two weeks or a month in, and a lot of those characters stop logging in when the game doesn't meet their personal expectations. Then you have the alt-aholic players with a fistful of characters on several games that bound like enthusiastic puppies to get characters in every sphere possible and play a game 24/7 until burn out sets in and they're off to the next new thing.

My guess is it won't be long before the game's mage sphere is accepting new apps.

After reading that snippet about wolfbloods and seeing him handle some other stuff, I have to say.

Gabriel appears to be the headwiz that a WOD game really needs.

                Good luck. Stay strong!

What's the Vampire sphere landscape like? Requiem 1e is something I'm interested in, and I would love to know if there's actually political interplay incentive, or if the sphere itself is reliant on partying with other spheres (no offense intended).

Couple of things to help that: Ever see the John Wick movies? Remember the gold coins that were used to purchase 'stuff' in that unusual world? That is how Vampires on Paris of the West handle Prestation. Doing things for a vampire gets you coins. Requesting a favor? It'll cost you coins. Want something from the Prince? Coin. Banes and Boons start to make sense for once. If that doesn't help political play, nothing else will.

Aside from that... the Vamp TL was chomping at the bit to get political RP started, so Court is going on RIGHT NOW despite the fact that we're not officially 'open' yet.

We were gonna do that for Vegas with @tragedyjones and @skew. Neat. I hope it works.

@coin I ❤ it when somebody else tries something I had a mind to try before I get around to it. (I sputter out on everything.)

I almost feel guilty for the 'ooh, I have wanted to try that, too, but better your neck than mine!' this kind of thing always inspires immediately whenever it happens, but not all that guilty any more. (The few things I've actually done/built/contributed never get credited/other people actively take credit for them, so 'hey, I thought of it/did it first!' doesn't even come to mind these days as a factor, since even when I do do the thing first, somebody else gets the credit for coming up with it anyway when it's copied later. 😐 )

                      Oh fucking well.

I feel super lame because my automatic response to the notion of Johnny Depp as mayor was "who would vote for him, considering his history of domestic violence?"

Sometimes I need to just snap my reality suspenders and move on.

In America? Lots of people. But I agree, I thought 'ew'.

@kanye-qwest I guess I'm so accustomed to thinking of San Francisco as a "progressive" city, which is why it didn't really align for me.

Honestly, in a setting with people who turn into wolves, vampires (other than Peter Thiel, who apparently believes he can become immortal off the blood of twinks), Mages and baristas or coders who all like movie stars and models, Depp the mayor doesn't even put a blip on the radar for me.

Maybe he made a deal with a demon or something.

Actually, that would kind of explain his career in real life, come to think of it.

No, what's going to stretch my belief, if I ever play there, will be apartments or houses where just one person can afford to pay the rent.

On top of the whole "setting with werewolves and vampires" stuff, it seems like people continually forget that the World of Darkness is not carbon copy RL. The World of Darkness is a more fucked up place. Cops are more crooked, more violent, more racist. People are more scummy, less worried about morals. Etc.

WoD is not "real life, but with vampires".

@tempest Yes so much. Tho at the same time every time somone starts an argument with 'This is the world of DARQUNESS not the world of **Fluffy Bunnies!!' I kinda start to ignore them.

**or whatever derisive term they choose

The people running the game should be clear about just how much their alternate reality deviates from the real one. The people playing the game should also keep that in mind. Since the WoD however is set in a modern analouge of our world, it's really easy to forget the differences.

@wretched Oh, for sure. I just meant to say, Johnny Depp as mayor is pretty tame in that frame of reference, even if he is a little scummy.
