@tinuviel Woop, sorry, let this one get away. Erm, I actually struggle to be able to tell the differences between muck, mux and mush, really. I've no real preference between the three. I don't want a mud, though, I'm getting too old for the twitch reaction required. 😛

Hero! because if it can take 5 hours tabletop to resolve 12 seconds, imagine the fun online!

(I say that actually liking part of the Hero game experience as played)

I have a waggish sense of humor.

          I didn't necro for once!

          Ahem.

So there is this ECG (not to be confused with CCG or LCG) where purchase economy is governed by dice? Think if Magic the Gathering didn't have mana, but dice rolls to figure out what you can do. It is called Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn, and I am obsessed.

Particularly, with the way the dice mechanic works. Am I obsessed enough to try to develop an entire RPG system based on it from the ground up? Not sure just yet! But it all looks so fancy, so who knows?

Shadowrun 5e. I'm half tempted to offer money to see this one.

I just discovered the What's Old Is New(WOIN) system. Aside from having an unfortunate name it's actually a pretty solid system. It's set up with OLD(Fantasy), NOW(Modern), and NEW(Sci-Fi) core books but uses pretty much a universal system that kind of combines Warhammer Fantasy with D&D. I've only made characters so far but that was very fun and engaging and people I know who have actually played the game have commented on how fun it is.

                I haven't been around since about 2e.

I looked at the chargen for 5e.

I looked at the simplified chargen for 5e in some expansion book.

I haven't opened the books since.

                  Shadowrun 5e.

YES, under the caveat that it uses the Karma chargen system instead of priority.

To explain to @Thenomain you start with minumum attributes, 0 skills, and a pile of karma. Now go buy everything.

Hold on, let me spend a few hours looking for a spreadsheet like I had to for Mutants & Masterminds 2e, then spend a few hours trying to figure out why I'm not supposed to build a character this way like M&M2e and all the other unwritten rules like M&M2e.

And the implied minmaxing necessities like WoD.

What I'm saying is that it's gotten much more complex and not for me. When the simplified version is too complex for someone who enjoys data flows and coding, well, I'm just going to let this one go.

edit: SR: Anarchy would probably be a fine choice, with more AMP and Gear options.

A few things on that- if that is something you can't do- you can just let staff doublecheck the work- and make a chargen system that doesn't do the double checking on stat maximums and spending things on stats that players don't qualify for. Because in order to check if a character is legal as a staffer I'd just run it through chummer5.

Which is something you might want to look at to see if it can be converted over to an MU code format? Maybe? Just a thought.

Since this seems to have been resurrected, let me just slide my Dark Sun suggestion card onto the table again.

Ideally, one that I know how to play! The rules conversion at Athas.org is pretty nice. But realistically I will take any of them. I just love the world.

I'm gonna resurrect this one again! This time with a /little/ bit of a different twist. I'm plotting a codebase, but I need an example RPG engine to use for my pluggable add-ons system. I'm trying to figure out what rulesets are:

a.) Used right now, or are really requested (like SW!) and...
b.) Are least likely to get me served with a cease and desist order once it goes public. I'd hate to put in all of that work and get my hand smacked for using a coveted and unfriendly IP.

The big one that pops into my head right now is FATE, since 'real-time fiction building' is one of my design inspirations, and it has a focus on building your own IP - and it's totally free to use so long as I give proper credit.

I'm fine with safe down to kinda safe, but I'd really like to avoid a Wizards or Palladium 'Knock that $%@!# off' letter from a lawbot.

                              Thoughts? 🙂

I'd love to see a Mutants & Masterminds 3rd Ed game. I know that Comic Book/Superhero games are overwhelmingly freeform in chargen and gameplay, rather than using one of the various TT systems. And part of this, IMO, is that games like Champions and M&M are toolbox systems to build anything and keep everyone in relative balance And that makes for a steep learning curve for new players. But, the two new Heroes Handbooks for M&M 3e (Basic HH & Advanced HH) gives players a new Archetype option for chargen that makes the process much faster and helps develop understanding of the system. Just a couple of branching choices to help determine the character's focus, and you have a fully legal, statted, and effective character in about 20-30 minutes, rather than hours of planning and calculations.

I've made this offer before with varying levels of success but I do have a M&M DB ready to go. It has a working character generation, a grid, I'd host the game and the wiki, I just can't run the game myself. I was working with some people on another superhero game but, as is the way, things tend to fall through so if there is interest in an M&M game hit me up and we can see what we can do.

@zombiegenesis Yup. I've tried to get my crap together to team up with you on a project like that, but keep falling short on my end. Hopefully soon, though...

I think I just need to have a 24/7 loop of Morty telling me to get all my crap together, put it in a backpack, etc., until I'm finally good.

I hate their movement/distance rules, but their way of doing human and mecha stats, and the combination thereof, is cool.
