San Francisco: Paris of the West

@autumn I'm counting the minutes before someone asks if the game will allow custom Legacies.
-
@arkandel I could have gotten behind that except for the man buns. Just no, man. Just no.

So, single-Order? Multi-Order?
Anything but Free Council, please. Silver Ladder might be kind of funny.
Whatever increases the humor value.

From a gameplay perspective I'd say multi-Order just for flexibility.
From an IC point of view... millennial do like their echo chambers.

I have a hard time picturing hipster millennials being anything but Free Council

Millennial rednecks!

@admiral Our 'Resources' merit will be appropriately scaled for San Francisco's living costs, have no fear.
Resources 3 - Warren Buffet
Resources 4 - Vladimir Putin
Resources 5 - Scrooge McDuck -
So reading the initial post right, we have to wait until the first to make a bit, or can we make one now?
-
Can make a bit right now
-
@apu You can make bits right now, but Chargen won't be fully ready and tested until the 1st.

Wish ya'll the best, but after reopening the books... well let's just say that after enjoying years of making optimized, but not super-min maxed sheets guilt free, seeing the cancer that is a multiplicative xp system again has made me really not want to play any game that strictly is interpreting things in a 1e fashion.
Hogod, please dear god... 5 x new dots xp? 4 x new dots xp? Character Advancement? Wuzzat?
Oh boy, unabortable Spirit Werewolf babies, I totally missed those. Man, being a female werewolf with any sort of sexual drive sucks, totally not a double whammy there. Horizontal not verti-wait regeneration. Well, use silver.
Oh fuck, and now I gotta buy a bunch of shitty superpowers again that I'll never use, ever. Eeeever. (for like 15 xp) Dammit. Yah, I'm out.
More constructive phrasing: What is the policy on xp? I think my above notes make it very clear on the RAW in many of these books.

Next time please keep it to the constructive phasing. The rest of the post is unacceptable in this section.

So currently looking at taking my Changeling alt Ida on here (I am Ida@here!) and there's a whole bunch of other Darkwater characters coming too. I'm also already plotting out an alt because I am clearly mad, and leaning towards making her the first vampire I've played in almost two decades. Probably Mekhet, definitely a scholarly type with some kind of enormous library. I'd like to spin her towards being a resource for as many people as possible, including non-vamps, will see how that turns out.
Alpha is being very promising. I love the rough write ups for theme I've seen so far, and staff seems very friendly and approachable.
-
@kay Glad to see you're enjoying your time so far! I've gotten a preview of what Azrael has in store for you vampires, and he's going to turn some worlds upside down. I'm pretty excited for it. Thanks for the kudos!

I've noticed that there aren't any mortal+ type merits listed. Things such as the various psychic/thaum merits, fae-touched or enchanted mortals, the few mortal merits from Geist, ghoul merits, wolfblood stuff, etc.
I'm assuming since this is still alpha, that these things will be added before opening?
Also, will people be gaining XP during alpha phase?

No XP will be gained until opening (partially because I won't have any of the XP systems coded until then).
Thaumaturges will be added as a Template, but they're near the end of my list, so they may miss the Beta date, but will be available by Opening.
Fae-Touched are not currently allowed.
Ensorcelled are allowed, and there are a few Merits in there for them, but you'll need to discuss specifics with the Changeling TL.
The Ghoul merits that the Vampire TL is allowing are in.
Wolfblooded stuff is in (although I'll be circling back with my Werewolf TL when possible to make sure nothing was missed).
Psychics may miss the opening date, because we're still deciding as a team how we want to handle them.
Proximi are allowed (as the Sleepwalker template).... I think I got them all?

My only concern (other than 1e broken combat merits, yes I am looking at you multi-action merits, and some other splat specific merits) is that XP Tiers always segregate RP.
Those who come in with big xp can just obliterate lower xp people. A lot of it is dependent on how pvp is handled and such but in general... not had a lot of good experience with xp tiers personally.
Will be giving this a chance eventually though.

That's an understandable concern with XP Tiers, and is something we're keeping a very close eye on in the early stages.
As for broken combat merits... we do not use Armory or Armory Reloaded on Paris of the West. No Fighting Styles are allowed.
-
@darc There were plenty of broken ones just in the (new) World of Darkness main book. Martial Arts etc.
