@JinShei Oh maaaaaan. What I wouldn't give to be able to go back and see Buffy for the first time again. My sister and I have watched all the seasons together. Any time one of us was sick, we'd make mac and cheese, pop in the next disc, and binge. Before it was a thing.

Enjoy it. Especially with all the 90s fashion. ❤

Well, feel free to see it through my eyes! I'm live-tweeting it to amuse a friend and my daughter. I think we are up to episode 6 now (the hyena one - WTELF!!!)

@Coin I think -- think -- the reason for the 'B' was that his father's name was also John (Big John). People who knew both (which would be most everyone in the story) would likely have had that drilled into their skulls as a means of addressing one or the other clearly. It's a pretty common thing to do name-wise, anyway, when someone does the whole same-name thing.

The same-name thing seemed really common when I lived in North Carolina, more than I saw elsewhere, anyway. It probably isn't statistically, but I knew easily half a dozen folks it applied to there in 2 years, and have only run into 1 anywhere else ever. It always had some kind of differentiator like that involved, so this may have just rolled off as making it seem more genuine, weirdly enough.

            Oh fucking well.

I get why his name is like that, I just find it unlikely they would repeatedly use "John B." Like, it sounds so off.

It wasn't until the near the end of the season that I realized his name was actually John B. I figured it was just some Americanized equivalent to Jahnvi or something French that I can't for the life of me remember how to spell but sounds similar and is meant to be said as a whole.

Watched the season finale of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and I could swear someone threw a cup of salty water on my face.

I liked the show enough. Loved the concept. The execution was underwhelming for me though, particularly in the musical numbers. But that's the main hook of the show, so unfortunately it wasn't as great as I was hoping it would be.

Ugh, the more I watch Motherland: Fort Salem the more I wish it was a viable universe to rp in, but I don't see how it would work. I'm sure system mechanics could be found, but I don't think there would be so many people interested in the theme.

@Coin: I was okay for most of the Zoe finale except for the Billy Joel song and then it was onions, onions everywhere.

I couldn't really get through the first episode. Does it get any better? Like the episode just seemed to go on forever and the fact that they weren't singing original numbers was meh to me.

They have an episode where a deaf girl signs 'her' song.
They don't cheapen it by having her 'magically sing.' They don't cover the vocal tracks in another way. It's just the instrumental and her signing.

It is, to this point, the most moving part of a very moving first season (for me at least). (Mind, I love the song choice in that scene so that might've had something to do with it BUT STILL, it shows how much THOUGHT the writers put into this.)

@bear_necessities I guess it just kind of depends on what kind of TV you like. If you don't care about occasionally bad lip-singing to badly arranged music with cheesy, repetitive choreography, the characters are awesome and endearing and the writing, while uninspired, is pretty entertaining.

It isn't something I'd sit down to watch on my own, but when my wife watches it, I'm cool with watching it with her without feeling like I'm wasting my time.

@Warma-Sheen While I think the arrangements aren't the best, I'm also against redoing songs, especially classics. But I love the show anyway. Its entertaining and at the end of the day mistakes and all, it makes me feel and that's what I want. So it hits the spot, good or not. Even if I can't explain why, the end result is good.
