That as well as warm fuzzy PJs right out of the dryer are two of life's little pleasures. 🙂

Finishing a painting project is something I love. Undead Romans for Dragon Rampant finally unboxed, assembled, painted, and added to thanks to some generous online people in the wargaming hobby. My mother bought these for my birthday and since her passing I was hard pressed to even look at them.

Course I also hate that I've gotten lazy in that my computer blew up and I haven't been assed out to replace it leaving me to take lousy unedited pics with my phone.

Afterward, the judges were all, "Maybe next year, you guys can judge...?" I think they wan to avoid a streak, ha ha.

                  Is it a horcrux?

                    @Misadventure No dear, it's a cake.

(Which might also be a horcrux.)

So the DC Rebirth Christmas Special has a story that begins with Superman and Batman fighting the Rainbow Monster of Cotopaxi... in Quito, Ecuador. Which is my home country. This is pretty rad, because usually the only other time I've seen Ecuador referenced in popular media that I can recall was... two random shout-outs in the Golden Girls (of all places.)

However, imagine my disappointment when I found out that the Rainbow Monster WASN'T President Rafael Correa. Ah, well, you can't have everything, right?

I also note Batman is yelling at people in English. This is bound to confuse everybody. I love it.

@Vorpal You remind me of this Teen Titans story a couple of years ago when they had Wonder Girl's mom call her from Athens... in front of a Parthenon-like temple I guess? Surrounded by people wearing togas and sandals?

                        Wtf.

... Noche buena is what every Spanish-speaking culture calls Christmas Eve. Lulz.

Also I am itching for some Ecuadorian superhero to come out of nowhere and berate Batman and Superman for hurting the Rainbow Monster by charging in when the local heroes all know how to pacify it again if the two assholes would have just given them a chance.

                          Hey, I can dream.

@Coin I'm afraid that an Ecuadorean superhero would probably not be a very good superhero at all. 90% of Ecuador, outside of the landscape and geography, sucks major monkey balls.

Saw the doctor today re: asthma attacks.

She's fairly sure I just have a lingering infection in my sinuses. So I've got 7 days of zithromax, flonase, and cough syrup. Cough syrup with hydrocodone. Which is why this is in RL things I love.

...because damnit I can enjoy feeling a little stoned while it helps me feel better. 😉

Also, my doctor is v. near the Regent Bakery... aka the source of the inspiration for the Portal cake. No, the cake is not a lie. It is real and a super tasty black forest cake. I bought a slice today and I shall be enjoying it tonight after dinner.

So the deep well pump (vs. the one that pumps from the reservoir tanks out to the circle of houses that share the well) is out and can't be restarted right now. So I haven't had running water at my house for almost 48 hours and probably will not perhaps for another 24-48. This is more annoyance/inconvenience than horrible thing because a) YMCA membership so I have someplace to take my family to take showers no questions asked and without incurring extra costs, b) due to frequent windstorms that knock our power out I have a good supply of potable water and toilet-flushing water on hand in case of emergencies, and c) wonderful kind friends who allow me to avoid the laundromat (why do power outage things and well issues always happen on the day I'm planning to catchup on laundry so we're all down to our last pair of clean undies?) and do emergency loads at their house.

So really all things considered, it's kind of nice sometimes to have things like this happen to remind me of how much I'm fortunate!

Now here's to crossing my fingers that I have running water back by Wednesday so I can get my holiday baking done to take around to people!

Subjectively speaking, one could say the same about the U.S., and yet.

And anyway, they could just be part of the 10%. It's a superhero. They aren't real. If an Amazon warrior can run around using the U.S. flag as a pair of spanky pants and a dude in a Bat-themed suit can instill fear in a city overrun with crime, I'm not gonna be shocked by a good Ecuadorian superhero.

@Coin Nah. I've lived in both countries, now almost an exact number of years in each. There's a reason I don't live in Ecuador. Concerning what I think of Ecuador, you can take Rita Moreno's song in West Side Story and apply it to that cankerous sore of a country.
