Gal Gadot is an awesome human being.

After working in customer feedback and the video game industries, I find the term "broflake" highly amusing.

Went to Ikea to get the frame for an adjustable/standing desk. I got the cheap crank one because it felt solid, and after spending the afternoon drilling the hell out of my old drafting desk which was too wobbly for a battlestation, I'm rocking a desk at a comfortable height, and I can stand up when I want to. It's pretty boss. Also got an ergo assessment at work, and they boosted my desk there up two inches and got me a new chair.
I'm looking forward to this brave new world of good/decent posture.

After a rough week, getting to start my day off with a nice breakfast of taro milk tea on ice and a banh mi sandwich, still hot. All the noms.

I am so jealous. I desperately love both of those things.

So the down payment on my car hadn't gone through yet. Money's been sitting in my account. This is concerning!
I called the dealership this morning and left a message (their finance guy was busy today).
He just called back, gushing over how I made his day. Just all this: no one ever does that, how surprising it was, etc.
They'd lost the paperwork with my bank info!
So we got it sorted. Gave my card info. Squared away.
He called back a minute later and was like: you know what? Look, in 16 years, I almost never see this happen. Next time you need your car detailed? Bring it in. It's on us.

@auspice Awww! and WTF, why would... no one check? I get frantic if my mortgage doesn't move from my account the next day and start logging into make sure I paid it. I had a Landlady who was bad at cashing the check within the week (one time she left for a month and didn't tell and just didn't cash the check and didn't answer emails WTF).
You probably saved him a great deal of hassel and playing phone tag. Good on you! You earned that detailing!

Well it was due to process on Friday, so it'd only been 4 days total and just 2 business days. They prob hadn't done their auditing yet.
I don't hold it against them. This was me being antsy and saving them trouble.
I have known landlords like that! I've known people who had landlords wait two months at a time to cash stuff. I could never live that way.

I had a landlord like that it drove me crazy til I found my work around for it. Instead of a check for rent i would just go get a money order and pay with that. I would get a receipt from the landlord I held onto and the money was out of my back do no worry from me. And the money order i could get at my grocery store for 76 cents which for me was a bargain for getting rid of the did they cash my rent check yet game.

When I was working in theatre in NYC, a certain successful and well-off performer (outside of his work, he came from money) kept, like -- forgetting to cash a check that was his fee for some concerts, or he lost the check and they sent him a new one and he still kept forgetting to deposit it, etc. We're talking thousands of dollars, if not over ten thousand. And he just -- FORGOT. No big. Barely a blip in his radar. (For the company, it was really important that he cash the damn check so that the books could balance in the right quarter.)
It's amazing how differently people can treat money.

I'm presently on between-term-vacation from work, I still check in on things and get drafts of my students' work sent to me for assistance and review.
For the first time all year one of the more "troubled" students has sent work in. It feels nice to feel like I'm actually making a difference in a young life.

I have lost 33 pounds!
In less 'I love' news, none of my clothes fit any more, but I'm not sure when the weight loss is going to even out, so I'm just trying to make do with belts. But I continuously feel like I'm playing dress up in an adult's clothes.

That tomorrow is a dump day. 1st and 3rd friday of the month the city dump is open to residents to dispose of brush, lawn waste and construction debris, etc.
I'm officially old now that I'm looking forward to being able to get the crap off my lawn. I should have put this in the things I hate thread.

The diner in our town that has the original set from kingsmen 2, and the most amazing food and drink. They let me test out the cocktails...

So I joined this FB group that the site suggested because it looked neat. I've been getting a lot more interested in trying to figure out ways I can be a better human, and so there was this group that is all women for women being supportive and safe, and it's a world-wide community rather than a US-centric one, so there's a lot of women from very different cultures. It's heavily moderated and it's all women supporting women with everything from living with arranged marriages to getting out of abusive relationships. They have days that you post types of topics, like asking for relationship help, or career help, or w/e. The mods help the ladies craft their posts if they need help.
I think it's been one of the best experiences of my life. In the past few weeks I have learned SO much. Like it's unreal. I have gotten to help people. Like really help. And I've even made a few new friends that like, one of them we don't speak the same language, just use translation programs, but it's been filling my heart up.

I knooooow. I love my little car.
I can't wait for the day I have the time/money for our first road trip, even if it's just a day trip.

I lost my desktop last year and I've been saving money away from work to get a new set up. I finally built it a month back but it lacked a monitor, had been using an old flatscreen as one, which made text really hard to read.
I've now finished my setup by getting a slick LG Ultrawide monitor that'll be 1 of 2 monitors I plan on getting for my dual screen setup. 2650x1080 is crazy looking and takes some getting used to.
Also, I didn't know that Logitech makes some damn good speakers
I'm really happy with the computer and the fact that it's taken me so long to save for it makes me extra happy. And it's mine.
And just because I want to offer specs on what I bought for the computer people in the house.

We just got back from seeing Panic! at the Disco.
Through the magic of the concert gods, I managed to get second row seats the day of the show. At the original price.
It was soooooooooo gooooooooood.

Sitting in a clean house, with my dogs quietly laying nearby, sipping a fresh latte I didn't even have to put shoes on to have.
