If this stuff were solely about the topic at hand, then so many personal attacks wouldn't be taking place. It's often been said here to attack the idea, not the person, but there's plenty of attack the person under the guise of attacking the idea.

Only if you ascribe to the idea that morals are relative to the person, and not universally to the actions (yes, speaking words is an action or typing them out in this case) that you take.

I would say, as someone believing in a universal morality, that telling someone to kill themselves is not a moral action. So if an action is not moral, one should feel some level of guilt or remorse over it if they are a moral person. That is what I posit. Others can feel free to feel differently, based on their own philosophies.

@meg What if the meaning of your actions is up to interpretation, and so varied levels of moral charge?

Kill yourself is fairly specific, yet I am sure it can be phrased in a way that is not a moral negative. "The kidnapper says they will execute your children unless you kill yourself. They have done so before. It is your choice."
