...holy crap, I thought I was the only person this happens to. (I had always thought it would be worse, but it's so much less evil for some reason.)

You aren't. Active/passive 3D. The instant I put on the passive (the ones that look all polarized) 3D lenses, my head feels like it's going to explode. If I go to official IMAX, which uses active, I can handle it. Only once in a while... I think Samsung TVs are the only ones that use 'em (tho they might've stopped; Active 3D is more expensive).

So yeah, me and 3D? Never gonna be a thing, sadly, unless it's non-glasses like the 3DS. I saw a non-glasses 3D TV at a tech show a handful of years back. It didn't even require that you sit at a very specific spot. I spent like half an hour at that booth just sort of mesmerized. It was pretty goddamn astounding.

I dislike 3D. It doesn't add anything to the experience 99% of the time (at least for me) and if I forget to have contact lenses on that day those glasses are annoying to wear over my own.

I like to go to the movies because I like the big screen (which I don't have). I also sort of enjoy hearing other's reactions to pivotal points of the movie. I guess to a lesser extent, it's the same reason I MU*. I want a shared storytelling experience.

IDK, maybe California is different with the high ticket price plus price of concessions and then huge crowds equals >.<

Sending kids to a friend/relative/parents night out ... priceless?

The going rate for a sitter coming to my house when I had 3 young children was over $20/hr. I had no relatives within a 3 hour drive. I've never paid $80 for 2 movie tickets plus a tub of popcorn.

Now, my house always was the dumping ground of choice when other people needed some time away because honestly, once you have 3, adding more kids to the mix really isn't even noticeable. But the intimidation factor for other people who only had 1 in particular of going from 1-2 to 4-5 was huge. Not that I blame them!

Now our house is the teenage hangout because, I shit you not, now that we have a toddler again, we have an sandbox and kiddie pools/slip and slides and popsicles. I should have taken a pic of the 4 giant ass 13-15 year olds playing with the 3 year old with cars and sand castles the other day. Otoh my babysitting expenses probably will drop to nil once he's completely toilet independent!

No, this is common for migraine sufferers, as Auspice said.

You're not missing much. The only film I've seen in 3-D that impressed was Avatar. You know, the only movie deeply designed to be seen in 3-D.

Mind you, there is something to be said about having your standards set too high. I bet that kitschy Journey to the Center of the Earth was at least fun in 3-D; it's all about the experience, right?

@Thenomain Dr Strange was good in 3d. I avoid it usually because I don't have binocular vision, and the forced depth perception gives me vertigo.

I really dig nature documentaries in 3D. Or that "4D experience" style where stuff is sprayed on you, perfume is pumped into the place, that sort of thing.

The last thing I saw in 3D was the Thriller experience at some theme park, I think. As a kid. Michael Jackson was coming -right at us-.

So the last time I spoke to my neuro, I explained how I feel so much worse and his answer was 'get more sleep.'

                              Because, such an easy answer.

One of my side-effects/symptoms is paresthesia (Paresthesia refers to a burning or prickling sensation that is usually felt in the hands, arms, legs, or feet, but can also occur in other parts of the body. The sensation, which happens without warning, is usually painless and described as tingling or numbness, skin crawling, or itching.). It began in my face and has moved on to where I sometimes get it in my hands/wrists/forearms and feet/ankles.

It'll keep me up. Because it feels so weird/uncomfortable. I mean, even when awake, that shit is distracting and uncomfortable.

Last night? It was in all three areas.

Yeah. you try 'getting more sleep' when your face, hands, and feet are all tingly/prickly. Great advice, doc.

Not only do 3D movies give me migraines, they have the audacity to /not even be in 3D/ for me. Since I have no depth perception because my brain learned to process information while ignoring basically everything coming in from my right eye.

Even the screen for the 3DS was a pain in my ass that wasn't worth it. shake fist, whisper i hate 3d let's go back.

The 3DS only works at about like, half the slider depth and I can only manage it for short periods of time before I gotta shut it off. That TV I mentioned from the tech show? Is the only time I've viewed something in 3D that truly, truly felt 3D without causing me discomfort. It was just downright astounding.

@HelloProject I refuse to accept what's communicated in your post: That you cannot figure out why someone might be opposed to all forms of discrimination.

And I refuse to accept that you sincerely don't understand the context of the situation and that you're actually making a sincere argument about discrimination. So I guess we're even!

No, seriously, I refuse to believe it. You are here on a forum about games in which people think outside of their own mental space and pride themselves on that ability, and you can't figure it out. This is what you're sticking with? Not trying to be mean, I'm just seriously trying to ascertain the veracity of your claim.

Ignoring literally all context for why women would want a women only event is equivalent to going "Well, fuck you, I've never even heard of a peanut allergy. #allsandwichesmatter."

Oh, you want context, do you? Well, that's related to the objection to all objections on the matter in each direction which I have expressed. Yes, that means I both agree with you and disagree with you. And you, and that other fucktard losing their sense of motherfucking reality in this stupidass argument. Fuck all of you dumb fuckers whenever you're in this thread.

You're all totally cool elsewhere, but here you guys just shit your fucking brains out on purpose. Fuck me up the ass with a boat paddle, why did I not just block this fucking thread the first fucking second I saw the insipid subject line...
