@PuppyBreath -- Are we maybe related? Because your family sounds an awful lot like my family, and my family pretty categorically sucks right now. It's been a long, slow slide into sucking, but they do in that special sort of way that makes them morally indignant about 'freeloaders' while also simultaneously complaining about how broke they are because my mother lost her job a few years back due to her own laziness/stupidity. But they deserve help, being hard-working Americans. (Read: white.)

If you ever need a sympathetic ear, please feel free to hit me up. I know how incredibly frustrating a situation like this and what it's like to be angry at yourself for not speaking up and 'being a bitch' -- both from years of being conditioned not to stand up to horrible people and because you were too busy staring slack-jawed, wondering how the fuck these people spawned you.

You can really avoid this sort of theme drift by creating a setting that you want and forbidding players from fucking with it.

It’s not too hard, but you have to be willing to say “no” and too few staff are willing to do this.

^Bingo. Like I said else-else thread: 75% of the grid playing chess while the other 25% runs off to play Monopoly. It makes it super hard for staff to deal with unless space for both has been built in deliberately.

I know he probably doesn't read this forum, but if anyone knows if he's still on the game, let him know that Mimi!Player greatly enjoyed her RP with him. He's just a 100% great dude and I'd be happy to contrive a reason to meet up with any bit of his on either of my alts!

He's still on the game on his alt. Which I'm not gonna out like a jerk. I'm just saying as much to let you know that if you post this on the OOC board there, he might pop out of his den and chat with you himself.

....Unless you're going to set a game in Philadelphia. Because then I expect you to do my city proud and set the Four Seasons next to a crematorium and a dildo store as Ben Franklin intended.

Plus plenty of opportunities for interesting NPCs for Philly MUSH: https://nypost.com/2018/02/05/eagles-fan-thinks-eating-horse-poop-is-cool/

Believe me, there is nothing horrible you can say about Philadelphia that Philadelphians haven't already said themselves.

I wasn't actually trying to say something horrible! Philly sports fans are so f'n crazy you can literally make some wild and crazy NPCs for any sort of modern day MUSH.

Oh! Well, yes. That is very true.

Meet the perfect example of the standard Philly attitude above. Being sandwiched between New York and DC, we definitely have a chip on our shoulder about being forgotten and overlooked despite having plenty of good things. The assumption is that if outsiders are talking about us, they're talking shit (in this case literally) and only we're allowed to do that about our hometown.

Also, everyone and everything is just a little bit extra here. Love it or hate it, we're going to let you know. The city is pretty much permanently set on "These speakers go up to 11", whether we're celebrating or rioting. They tend to look very similar.

@Auspice -- It was. So at least it sounds normal when you say it out loud. But FFS, couldn't you put Evie on the birth certificate and make all the private jokes you want about her being an adorable little Pokemon? I mean, seriously, at least give the kid a chance at not going through life until age eighteen with her head permanently hung low and a look of mortification every time she has to put her name on paper.

If you need help building a Changeling, seriously, let me know. I don't play it currently, but I worked in/ran the venue on HM for, like, two years when it was so big we had a waitlist. It's been awhile, but I know Changeling sheets pretty well.

    • RE: Star Wars: Dawn of Defiance

I currently play on this game. It certainly has it's problems -- as all games do -- but I've encountered relatively little flail-handing drama on the game, save for that caused by ancient players who are decidedly not staffers, but had been ridiculously favored by previous staffers, suddenly having to deal with the possibility of being called out on their shit by other members of their faction and facing the consequences. (One player who led multiple non-Empire factions and consistently sold them out to the Empire in exchange for hot sexytimes coming immediately to mind.....)

Granted, I will also admit that my one PC is in a rebel cell with the current staffers. With that said, 95% of the scenes our cell is in are run by.... not them. In fact, they don't even show up to most of our PRPs because they're too busy running shit for other people -- a source of much disappointment among our cell's players, but one we also don't complain about because their staff duties are more important to the game then rolling with us nerds.

YMMV, especially if you're one of the ancient players that's having a meltdown at no longer controlling entire sectors after not RPing for a year and being a perpetual turd on public channels.

@Derp said in Echoes in the Mists - CoD 2e MU:

Mage on Portland is officially open!

      Upsides:

There are plenty of beginning Mysteries to go out and explore.
It's a new sphere, so everyone's just as clueless as everyone else!
      The players are fantastic.

      Downsides:

The wiki is kind of a hot mess right now. I've been doing my best to get information out there, but honestly, I have no idea how this beast works. Mage templates aren't completed, and I cannot tell you when the ETA on them will be. All of the information is conveniently (haha nervous look) on a single page, so you don't have to go hunting for it, though. Even if it's a bit crowded.

Legacies I have writeups for but I don't have them on the wiki because I still am not sure where the hell I am putting them, and haven't even vetted them all really.

Things are basically in a beta phase for the next few months to see if all this catches on fire or not.

If you're interested come check it out.

      http://portland.echoes.wiki/Sphere:Mage

How active is Mage right now? Are you getting an influx of apps?
