@Cobaltasaurus This game must be very confusing for grumpy people. Telling us nerds to get off our asses and go outside doesn't have the same ring to it any more. 🙂

@Thenomain I think people are more prone to being upset/losing their minds if they car about the material at hand - their origin doesn't much matter as much as their treatment.

For instance one of my peeves about Batman vs Superman was how poor a detective Bats was in it; come on, the world's greatest detective and someone who clearly knows his identity has been sending him clues and letters for months but he didn't figure it out? It's a very minor issue in a movie riddled with larger plot holes (although the imagery and scope resonated well with me otherwise) but I was irked.

Either way though I wouldn't have cared at all if I didn't like the character. If they screwed up... dunno, a comic book I don't read or a manga property turned into a movie (since I don't watch manga) it'd be irrelevant to me.

So what's everyone's level these days? I'm sure my 20th isn't that impressive in this crowd. 🙂

I have no problem with offense winning over defense. It does in every iteration of WoD old and new I just prefer that if the choices are it winning in 3 rounds or 5 rounds I prefer it to be in 3.

The problem was when you got to the 1.0 issue with offense; whoever attacked first won, simply because you could front-load so much stacked bonuses, multiple attacks and/or automatic successes that chances were no one would survive. Combat had become a race for initiative.

That's not a good thing, it's very anticlimatic not to mention awkward to deal with for STs; your NPCs would either one-shoot PCs or not be that challenging, with little in between and at the mercy of RNG on top of that.

Today, out of nowhere, a woman I have never seen before walks up to me in the middle of the store while he's with me on leash and goes into this lengthy explanation about how she's extremely allergic to dogs and so the only places she can go are restaurants and stores, and could I please stop bringing my dog to the store?

I don't know if there are actual legal/bylaw limitations where you live but if there are not you could direct her to management, explaining they permit dogs in that store given specific circumstances and that no, you won't simply not bring your dog over because she might be around. That's not fair.

This is a touchy issue for me, I've read so many horror stories over the years. A few months ago in Athens a blind woman with a freakin' guide dog got on a bus and the driver asked her to get out, threatening to call the police (!) if she didn't. The law explicitly states she can bring a registered guide dog anywhere she goes, including restaurants, but this one guy just didn't like it... so when she made a big deal by actually getting the police involved herself he backed down, figuring he might lose his job, and started apologising and crying to the media about how he didn't mean it.

      Bullies.

So, this is going to be WoD Super Friends? Vampires and Mages joining together to fight Cthulhu?

Games become what their players turn them into.

Yes, in theory staff can guide theme into whatever their vision is but in practice... well, it rarely happens. Mostly it ends up being paragraphs of prose put on wiki pages as the MU* goes in the direction players want it to; that's simply the path of least resistance, requiring less daily work in maintenance and clashing with players who're doing their own thing.

      It's what it is.

So will it become Super Friends? Probably. The real question is whether that's a bad thing or not, which isn't a rhetorical question.

The problem with Renown requirements usually comes down to how anal staff is prepared to be about how Renown is to be purchased. So it ends up being a process in which you're trying to appease assorted policies and arrange your future PrPs around the local bureaucracy.

Otherwise Gifts aren't that bad, at least in 2E.

Well, what gets me is the overreactions by people. There was a guy on the radio earlier ranting about how none of his friends liked it ('they were laughing AT not BECAUSE of the movie!') and then there are blogs like this doomsayin' before the opening weekend is even over.

In the mean time the movie is breaking August box-office records. Not that this means anything, audiences show up for stupid movies too, but oh-no whatever will Warner do? They have a huge hit but they're getting bad reviews from critics... time for some hard choices.

Yeah I didn't pick up on the sarcasm.
I do have one question about hte movie since you have seen it and it is non-spoiler-y but is one the othe big reasons I am not excited for it. Does Will Smith do asshole well enough for a proper Deadshot?
I like Will Smith as an actor but one thing I have never seen him play is an asshole which Deadshot is, a character I love though.

I didn't think they tried to make him an asshole. I mean he was an assassin (obviously) but other than THAT... he wasn't a jerk. Can't tell if it's because WSmith didn't want to portray that or it was just in the script.

I think I've mentioned this before here but in case I haven't - I'm so spoiled by just 'finding' things online it doesn't even occur to me not to any more.

So while ago I was looking for the .apk file (basically an Android app in installable form) for Plex, a media player I use almost literally every day. I must have been searching for the latest version for half an hour before it occurred to me... what the hell am I doing? It's $4. $4, one-time fee including all future upgrades - what am I doing?

I normally don't put that much money into it but decided I was bored and needed a distraction that was not going to result in endless frustration for me. 🙂

      How much was that?

I mean paying for games isn't anathema, even for ones with microtransactions. I see no reason I shouldn't spent as much as say, my WoW subscription for something I play regularly.

Having said that, I haven't. The stigma!

Then that makes your initial most even more bizarre to me. You are upset that someone collected and presented data? (Well upset might be a bit of a reach but at least moved enough to post here to say screw them.)

I was being sarcastic, but I guess I can see how that got lost in translation.

What I meant is screw critics and the negative reactions online, I liked the movie just fine for what it was.

A site about movies will express an opinion about movies that is what it exists to do.

A site about movies will, but Rotten Tomatoes doesn't do that. It simply aggregates reviews and scores from critics and shows them, it has no views of its own.

Screw you, Rotten Tomatoes. I really liked Suicide Squad.

I mean it wasn't the perfect movie but it was thoroughly enjoyable... if only Cara Delevingne could act at all.

It doesn't sound as if the intention is to force the Governor to actually represent clients as much as it is to shed some publicity and apply pressure on the situation. On that end it's working, but I don't know anything about the political situation there to tell if antagonism will help matters or make them worse.
