Dunno which to put this in (TV or movies), but...

Lionsgate acquired the rights to the Kushiel books. They haven't decided if they're adapting it into TV or film yet. Carey JUST announced it on her Twitter.

Ngl I read that as "favorite TSers."

she might be that, too. I wouldn't be surprised. We just haven't TSed yet.

tbh I've debated waxing poetic about my favorite TSer here.

@Auspice I hear ya. I had a similar discussion with my therapist this month. I started this month just over-emotional and off. I had no reason to be, but I was. I couldn't focus, had feelings of dread and doubt, and just was in general a mess.

Turns out this is also the 1-year anniversary of my mother's passing (tomorrow actually) and we think subconsciously it was affecting me more than I thought it was.

But even pinpointing that might be the cause, I still can't focus worth a damn this month. I'm less weepy but so damned scatterbrained.

Yeah, I mean. It doesn't FIX it (not that I expect it would), but it did cause a 'huh' moment.

I do like her. She's not a 'let's just talk about it' and she's also not a 'here's some random methods to try!' person.

She likes looking into the neuroscience behind things and what your body is trying to tell you through it's behaviors and considering how I function and operate I'm like okay yes this I can do.

First session with new therapist today. We discussed poss. triggers for these major ADHD episodes where my function breaks down.

She asked if I had them before the trauma event (surgery) for my PTSD. I... did not. And I'd never even considered if that could've been a, y'know, thing.

But apparently, sometimes, ADHD can be tied to that kind of thing as part of that uh, flight/anxiety mode? so I guess it's time for 'let's delve into fixing Auspice's trauma'

@krmbm and I threw out an idea a long time ago about going some kinda random scene set generator in some of the more public rooms to help people who do the whole "wanna rp? What's your idea?" Sort of thing.

I would love to hear your ideas on this! What sort of generator were you thinking? Code tool, something like a classic +view, etc? 🙂

@krmbm said in Ares Users: Daily Prompts?:

People start open scenes all day long on GH as "slow/portal RP." They usually gain at least some traction. YMMV.

If this is something you're thinking of trying, maybe just... try it? And see if it works?

I've had a couple players (we're a much smaller playerbase than GH, mind!) do this with success, but I think it takes a certain kind of person to be willing to 'put themselves out there.' I've done it myself and I think my scene sat open until someone dropped in for about 3 hours.

And that's where the issue lays. You have to be willing to wait until others show up and a lot of people aren't willing. It also takes a big shift in thinking from the traditional style of MU to get to that point. It's kind of like the old 'grid sit until someone shows up,' but isn't.

I can't always be the one to go and 'sit' in an open scene. Largely because of work. BUT, I could probably, as I'm catching up on email in the morning, toss down a scene idea for others to pick up on.

THIS DOESN'T HELP... but it kind of explains things?

I was trying to explain to someone yesterday (HI @Arkandel!) that I can't do staycations because I am someone who, the instant I walk in the door at the end of the day from work, starts stressing out because homgIshouldstartcleaninganddoingchoresand...

I can't relax unless absolutely everything is done and taken care of and even then what if I should-

I don't know how people relax.

Getting a flat tire on the last turn before the street I park on to catch my bus is a fine way to start my Friday.

That's gonna occupy my thoughts all day.

Is it just some lost air?
Am I gonna need to buy a new tire?

    • Ares Users: Daily Prompts?

One issue I've seen on some Ares games (SGM, Notion, and others) is that it's hard to 'sync up' with actively online and portal users to get scenes going and you can have a day or even days where no scenes happen because of a lot of 'Anyone RPable?' 'Sure' 'Oh sorry I asked that an hour ago...' type hit-or-miss chatter.

Sometimes just launching a portal scene and waiting works, but that's a really new concept and a lot of people are afraid to take that leap of faith (understandably!) or they don't have the free time to sit around all day and wait to see if someone 'bites' on their scene set.

So here's what I was debating a trial run (because a huge part of SGM is @Paradox and me trying out new ideas... some work, some don't!) of and I'd like to get feedback from other Ares users:

a few days a week, I could start up a portal scene with a scene set. A 'prompt' as it were. Give people something to hook into as they want. Maybe it's just a 'casual day at the.....' or maybe even something exciting! It'd always be crafted to be something easy to drop into and the idea would be that no one is stuck waiting for someone else to show up. That way no one person is starting the scene and twiddling their thumbs waiting for others.

Yes, obviously, someone posing in is gonna have to wait, but the 'starter' is a Staffer (me!) putting in a scene set. It takes away that initial pressure.

If you, as a player, saw a 'daily prompt' like this upon logging in (an open scene, with a ready-to-go idea), would you be more willing to jump in and RP? Would it take off the pressure of hunting RP day-to-day? Or would you shy away from and avoid it?

@Warma-Sheen From all appearances, Morey was forced to withdraw the tweet and make an apology.

The same as players have been in the past, which we've criticized organizations for. Which is what has led to player protests.

You can't say now 'oh well Morey shou-'

That is exactly why we're mad at LeBron.

I had the audacity to take a few days off of work this week! One of my customers took this less well than I hoped and so upon returning to the office I was treated to an ANGRY EMAIL. I will provide an excerpt!

"I'll leave you with this. I hope your partner drops dead and while you attend their funeral, I hope your house catches fire and everything in it is razed to the ground so scum like you can know what it feels like to be in a state of unending turmoil and distress because bastards like you deserve it."

So yeah, that eased me nicely back into the swing of things.

      oof.

My sister apparently, while putting air in her tire, had a guy approach her.

      'Hey, need help?'

      Sister: 'Nope, I'm good.'

Guy kept approaching, telling her how to put air in, insisting he could do it.

Sister: 'Please stay back. I'm fine. I'm not comfortable right now, go away.' (esp. because this was AT NIGHT.)

Guy: 'FINE. I hope your tire fucking EXPLODES on you and you WISH you'd let me help!'

      people are fucking fucked up.

    • RE: The Work Thread

      Last week:
'Scrimmage is in November so let's get the main portion of this document done. And maybe some one pagers for reference.'

      Me: Cool. Doable
After meeting, email everyone on team and ask what one pagers they think would be best. I, unfortunately, have been in a vacuum. During UAT, they only invited me at the tail end and only to reporting discussions. It wasn't useful for me. Not for my part of documentation.

So I get things third hand at best.

The guy I mostly work with went out of town for two weeks after the above meeting. No blame on him.

Today, my boss: hey next week we should put together a presentation to show <big boss> what we have for the scrimmage. The document, the one sheets.

Me: I don't have the one sheets. I asked for feedback on what people think we should have, but no one replied. I'll send a reminder.

Her: oh, well, <guy that's out> is the one that'd know.

Me: I figured the people in UAT would have thoughts, too, based on what they witnessed.

Her: Hmm. They should, you're right.

Like, by and far, I love my job. I do. But the way they handle documentation is garbage. And it is 100% a Whole Foods problem. Amazon actually has a dedicated tech writing department and method and it's great. I follow a guy who blogs about it (and does talks around the country). WF just brings someone in for a few months and lets the team they put them on figure it out as they go and it's....problematic.

I don't know what's going on if you don't tell me. If something is needed or changes...you gotta tell me.

At least the guy she supposedly wants to present to is super cool and he and I see each other in the kitchen one or two times a week and chat so it's not like holt shit oh no a boss I've only seen or heard of once before! But goddamn don't drop a presentation on me for materials I've literally had no chance to prepare because the person I require left the office for two weeks the day after I was asked to prepare them.

To get us back on track (kinda) is there any reason a tablet setup with a physical keyboard wouldn't be a good/great way to MUSH?

And I might be daydreaming here but there wouldn't be any Android clients supporting spawns, would there? 🙂

So I haven't yet been able to get an Android client to work well. Mukluk did best last I tried, but as others have said: Mudrammer on iOS seems to do best for MU.

If you're a developer? The mobile space is somewhere that needs help for MUing.
