I really hate how fucking long it can take to get in to see a specialist.

Doctor gave me imitrex and phenergan (pain & nausea) to hold me over, as it were, until I see the neurologist. Meaning I have about a week's worth.

      MRI was last night.

Called neurologist to setup an appointment. Took the earliest one.

      April 10th.

I did ask to be put on the list to be called if there's any cancellations between now and then, but joy. I'm sure if I ask my doctor, she'll give me more of the meds, but still. 😞 My life is pretty much effectively on pause if these migraines don't clear up.

There's metrics on how many times a person changes careers in their lifetime. I think it's something like 5?

My jobs, to the best of my memory... Lessee... It began at 14, at a boarding kennel.

...and whatever you call what I do now. I guess not terrible for covering 16/17 years. My current company has been almost 6 years of that, however (I hit 6 years in May).

I started out wanting to do web design and did a few freelance before I realized I did not have the patience for it ("So, tell me what you're looking for..." - "Oh, just do whatever. You're the artist." -- later -- "That's not what I wanted at all!").

I'm currently in school for a Creative Writing degree, because I've realized it's the only thing I truly enjoy in a career environment. Unfortunately, I'm also highly aware that my likelihood of finding a job using it is pretty much nil.

Maybe I should look into a nose job or xanax.

If your lack of sleep is affecting your ability to lose weight, you may be able to get a doctor to sign off on a sleep study. This may be an important step in figuring out what's causing you to not sleep well, even if you're super-anxious.

Lack of sleep will mean elevated cortisol levels, and a whole lot of other bad shit. So, your first step to weight loss may be getting that sleep study. If your doctor won't send you that way, you should find another doctor.

I will say my sleep study was a big middle finger to a lot of people. Primarily my mother. She was convinced I had sleep apnea. I did not. I had 'hypopnea.' I struggled to breathe, but I didn't stop. Nothing a CPAP would do anything for. It was 100% the badly deviated septum. >.>

Plus, if you get a sleep study, you can feel like aliens are doing weird tests on you!

I seriously began losing weight steadily once my deviated septum was fixed and I began sleeping properly.

Like, the role sleep plays in weight loss can be pretty huge.

      @WTFE

Part of why I was given stronger anti-nausea meds is I've barely been able to eat for a couple weeks, due to the migraines. At best, it's been 'I'll eat this small thing because I know I need to.' I've tried to counter-balance it with a lot of tea, but... yeah.

My doctor wanted to make sure I was eating, so that it didn't make the migraines worse (being anemic and prone to blood sugar crashes, this is a valid concern). What I appreciated about it, truly (other than the fact that the injected anti-nausea med worked so well I had my first full meal in a couple weeks after)?

I'm overweight. And almost every doctor I've had in the past and told 'Yeah, I haven't been able to really eat much' (such as when my gallbladder was failing) would come back with something along the lines of 'Well you could do to miss a few meals.' 😐

I put 'sometimes' because there isn't a 'once in a blue moon' option. If my connection goes out mid-scene? I'll hop on from my phone to let people know. If I'm out somewhere, alone, and bored out of my skull? I might sign on to chat.

But I don't RP from it. And if I do login from my phone, it's usually just to chat or watch RP if my conn died / warn people that it did.

To balance out the 'still having migraines,' I found out at the Dr's that I passed my last weight plateau. Been stuck at a specific spot for a few months now and weighed in at 5lbs under that previous.

Plateaus suck. Getting over them, however, is pretty awesome.

      Still dealing with migraines.

Sometimes I'm not aware how bad they are until I have to leave my apartment. I keep my apartment dim (not dark, just lower light) and I can move at my own pace. Don't have to actually speak to anyone.

Once I'm out in the world, the nausea, vertigo, pain... all of it just hits new levels. I feel like I'm drugged or something. Harder to walk. Hard to form words and sentences. I was afraid, when I picked up the meds from Walgreens that the doc prescribed, they'd think I was drunk or high.

Got an MRI scheduled tomorrow and a referral to a neurologist. I just hope to have this squared away soon.

    • RE: Shadows over Reno

I know some of you folks have made noise about playing with me at some time or another. I wasn't playing my Hunter (just couldn't get into her/things), so I've made a new char. I'm now approved and on-grid as Sierra. Werewolf.

Other potential hook is the University. She works there as a researcher, due to a background in anthropology and South American cultures. But there's also the, y'know, random 'oh hai' at a bar that always works (I am not a fan of 'all bar RP all the time,' but I understand its value in smooshing characters together who would otherwise struggle to meet).

I just wanted to post that the game is coming into activity again. RL issues hit staff really hard there for a while. But now there is regular activity and RP, as well as a more fleshed-out CG, and Search is due to begin very soon (descs for eggs were collected this past week and PCs can now flag themselves for Search).

I do know that after a couple Search cycles, they had planned to go into a Pass. Basically build up a couple PC fighting wings before Thread comes.

Much of this. When I'm running a scene, it's nice to be able to draft and edit and update my poses while also keeping an eye on the scene itself, answering questions, etc.

It's incredibly helpful when GMing and staffing, yeah. Probably moreso than player-side, though that's how I've mainly dealt with it. It's non-essential but now that I'm accustomed to it I really appreciate it as a multi-tasking tool.

Did anyone else ever use... I think it was Rapscallion? on Mac?

I think that was the one that had a shared input window for all world instances.
      It was miserable.

The reason being able to have an in-progress pose in another input window is so handy for me is I am someone who begins drafting my next pose as soon as the person after me has posed. That way, esp. in larger scenes, there's no waiting 10+ minutes for me. Spawn windows help this somewhat (for channels), but for pages, mails, etc... I have to copy and hope I don't copy over it or paste it elsewhere. It becomes a hassle.

Most people I know use it to compose a pose while simultaneously carrying on a page or channel convo. I've always been so accustomed to just using the clipboard as a copy/paste buffer that even when I've used Potato on occasion I haven't found myself utilizing the dual-input window. But maybe it's something you get used to over time.

This is primarily what I use it for and I find it a lot more helpful than I did in the beginning. Channel convo I can just let scroll and whatever, but sometimes there are pages I feel like I should respond to right away. I also use it as a quick reference to bbposts or character finger info while writing. Even when I tried to save poses by copy/pasting, if you aren't vigilant about it every time, they're just gone. And recreating poses, much like copy/pasting hyperlinks from SimpleMU because it fucks up links, is a PITA I wasn't entirely aware I hated until I no longer had to deal with it.

Much of this. When I'm running a scene, it's nice to be able to draft and edit and update my poses while also keeping an eye on the scene itself, answering questions, etc.

I lose way too many poses to copying to the clipboard... and then getting distracted just long enough to copy something else.

And that dual-input, right? That's the main reason I'm bit-chomping. I've been missing my Potato dual-input soooooo bad.

Does Potato work for Mac? I thought it did (and thought this and its Linux compatibility was part of the reason it had that kind of infuriating Aspell thing instead of a live SimpleMu-style spellchecker). But I'm a Windows user so I only know what it says on their site, not what it actually does. I'm now curious what it's like for non-Windows users, since I've found it pretty functional.

      It did work for Mac.

      ...and then Sierra.
