I generally loathe a lot of the current pop lingo. Bae, fleek, thirsty, ratchet, etc.
'Fleek' is out.
You 'slay' now.

Woah, hey!
I PLAY LARA CROFT.
Damnit. Stealin' mah schtick. >.>
(Not actually upset. I just recall it being the joke when I began playing Lou: 'She's basically Lara Croft.')
That aside...
I've seen Staff on Arx handle situations. They handle them swiftly, appropriately, and without calling attention to them (aka risking more drama). Honestly, it's a large part of why I keep playing (even if RL has been crazy). Hard to find a Staff you can feel so chill with.
Christmas hasn't really been my thing in a long, long time.
Hell, holidays haven't. I pretty much liked Thanksgiving because of the food, but only got to partake every few years over the past decade-and-change due to working in places like call centers where the public expects you there every single day of the year.
But this year, I'm having a good holiday. And I'm most looking forward to Friday. I'm going into DC to see the national tree (despite growing up in the area, I never actually did so) and to visit the Air and Space Museum for the first time in about 13 years.
2016 may have been an incredibly rough year (personally, as well as everything else), but it's definitely ending on a high note.

down.I will note... I think the photo sets are primarily submitted by teenagers, so the 'age' ranges can be way off. We're talking someone in their 20s being in the 40s section and vice versa.
That is a huge peeve of mine. I'm okay with "Hollywood Aging", like using actors in their late teens/early 20's to play middle teen chars, but no one's going to look at say, Russell Crowe in a recent film and pass him off as 23, or or Phillip Seymour Hoffman and call him college age.
I honestly think it's because most of Hollow Art's users are teenagers. And teenagers are kind of bad at guesstimating ages for adults. But even then, I mean, it's not like IMDB isn't out there.
But like @Kanye-Qwest is saying, people do that sorta thing all the time on MU*s. Hugh Jackman, the 22-year-old werewolf! (I don't know if this has ever been done. I'm just tossing out something that wouldn't surprise me.)
I often use http://www.hollow-art.com/, myself. The Search allows you to narrow by gender, age, hair, eyes, ethnicity, etc.
It's crowd-generated, so some actors just aren't there, but it can be a way to start drilling down.

On a new game, I began RPing with someone and got 'this person is cool and meshes well with my style' vibes off of them. They're quickly becoming one of my favorite people to RP with or even just hang out and OOCly shoot the shit.
I've been MU*ing for over 18 years and generally within the same general types of game, so meeting someone new is pretty rare. Even better when it's someone you jive with so well.
Saw the doctor today re: asthma attacks.
She's fairly sure I just have a lingering infection in my sinuses. So I've got 7 days of zithromax, flonase, and cough syrup. Cough syrup with hydrocodone. Which is why this is in RL things I love.
...because damnit I can enjoy feeling a little stoned while it helps me feel better.
Also, my doctor is v. near the Regent Bakery... aka the source of the inspiration for the Portal cake. No, the cake is not a lie. It is real and a super tasty black forest cake. I bought a slice today and I shall be enjoying it tonight after dinner.
Oh shit. I'm so sorry
Not being able to breath sucks. And I can't imagine how hard it is to be the parent in that situation (I have distant memories of how stressed my mother was when I was little and spent a couple months fighting pneumonia).
Hopefully they improve soon!
I have no issue with different relationships than happened in the comics... because, again so damn many of them.
But some things just make my head kinda hurt.

I don't care if it's an LGBTQ issue or anything else; if you play Batman, play him like he is in the comics timeline the game is using. Else play your own character.
No, I don't care if you think he should be driving a yellow Batmobile or wield a katana either.
I feel the same way, but I'll allow for people to be a little flexible or ambiguous if they want. I may cringe, but I'm not gonna stop in and tell them NO. Which is why I get so frustrated when I'm playing a character as-written and someone flips their shit because they TOTES want that char to be <some other way>.
I am personally rather against fanfic of the 'shipping' variety. Seeing an author's characters warped in a way so different than they were written (the 'OMG Name and Name are OTP! Author just wrote them as hating each other because they were scared people wouldn't understand!').
The idea of someone doing that to characters I've written just makes me uncomfortable. Like... how could someone claim to love something I'd written and then fundamentally change it so?
Comic characters, at least, do have a wide range of 'iterations' to choose from, but I think if they've been very clearly hetero or very clearly gay (hello, Northstar)... it's not really quite right to suddenly change them. You've got chars who have been straight in some iterations, gay in others, etc... sure, go for it. But others? Noooot so much.
@Nein said in DC Game Wanted:
@Auspice Agreed on that point. My main problem is when shipping itself is 95% of the game. Gets boring kind of fast.
Edit: I've had characters try to use their superpowers to non-consensually turn mine gay for them, and they didn't seem to understand why this was wrong. So I hear you.
jfc, yeah. For serious.
Really, just, any bullying of any kind to try to get someone to play a FC to 'their' desires is problematic. Knew a chick, about a decade back, who would bully people playing Gambit into either being with her (Mary Sue-ish) OC or... into leaving the game so her friend could play him. And generally, Staff wouldn't intervene.
So it's a problem of the people who do that and yeah, insane (or conflict-avoidant) staff.
@Nein said in DC Game Wanted:
I'd like a DC game that isn't 95% LGBTQ superhero shipping or run by wildly insane and controlling staff.
I have no issues with LGBTQ chars or bending FCs that way... for the most part.
...I have issues when people bully whoever is playing said FC into being gay, to suit their personal ships.
@Arkandel
Goddamnit dude, fuck me for opening that at work.Kinda funny how I never used to have like a strong external emotional response to articles like that, but now that my kid lives with me I can't even make it through the headline without spraying around like broken faucet.
I saw that story the other day when my PMS-sensitivity was at its worst. I was weepy for at least an hour.
@Misadventure - clearly I need more chocolate.
I was out of money and insurance and inhaler meds a few years ago. Ended up having to go to the ER. That feeling of suffocating slowly is so not fun. Hope you feel better soon!
I am sorry. I've been there and yeah, it super sucks.
I hit my insurance deductible back in November, so I will grabbyhand at whateeeeever the doctor wants to hand me on Friday since I won't have to pay for it.
@GangOfDolls said in RL Anger:
@Auspice It sounds like you're on top of it and I'm sorry you're experiencing this. It does sound a lot like something that happened to my sister almost kind of suddenly a year ago. Turned out, she had developed GERD (hitting your 30s is the best). I thought it just gave you constant heartburn but apparently in some people it sets off asthma attacks where none were before.
I dunno if this is helpful but thought I'd mention as it was one of those 'wait really?' moments.
Science is weird.
This has happened to me before. It's been about ten years, tho. And it was worse, then. I'm on omeprazole (Prilosec) already tho, 'cause joy of joys bad acid reflux.
Hopefully the doctor has something good to offer on Friday. The attacks aren't like 'omg maybe I should go to the ER,' but they're enough that I can't sleep. I'll be wheezing just enough and there's just enough of that 'weight' feeling in my chest that I can't sleep.
That is super crazy, tho. I've known a couple folks with GERD, but never heard of that.
If Barry Allen isn't Flash, I'm not playing! >.>
