@ganymede It isn't that you remain wholly separate, it's that you're oblivious to it going on.

RE: Forgiveness in Mushing
It isn’t that I don’t forgive. I just don’t forget, and if I see the behaviour that made me red flag them in the first place continue then you can bet I’ll avoid the hell out of them. I can politely interact with people who’ve pissed me off. But if they keep on? I’m sure as hell not going to indulge or enable them, even through something as simple as proximity.
And what does it matter if I hang onto that? They didn’t care enough about what I thought before to behave like an adult, they’re not going to care now that I think they’re dumb or an asshole or callous or selfish or whatever. It hurts no one if I roll my eyes at their shenanigans and carry on with my life believing they’re not worth my time.

RE: Ixokai
This is terrible, terrible news. All of my condolences to his friends and family.

RE: I owe a lot of people some apologies.
So it isn't misconduct for a mod over the course of years to rile a poster up by spinning lies against other posters who spoke out against her being a mod.
What is considered mod misconduct?
This is now the second time Auspice has acted out against people here. This is now the second time that, when called on it, she's vanished and let the other mods step up to play shield. This is now the second time posters here have been placed in the situation of seeing the wagons close around her misbehaviours.
Let's have some transparency. Are you working on a three strikes and you're out policy? Will this need to happen again (possibly with other people she's whispering poison to) before she gets a talking to or booted? I don't agree with what @surreality did or how she's handled this but it's out now, in the public eye. What she did is now transparent. Let's have some transparency from the admin side of things, regarding one of the admin's behaviours.
When does it become actionable?

RE: I owe a lot of people some apologies.
This certainly helps translate some of my bigger wtf moments in the last couple of years of @Auspice as mod and answers some questions I'd had too. I'm disgusted but not very surprised.
I'll reiterate my originally stated opinion from several years ago: she needs to not be a mod here.

RE: Arx: A New House
@zombiegenesis You'd be welcome! I'm going to be scarce for a couple of days but if we hit four committed players this week, I'll be submitting the pitch to staff this weekend.

RE: Arx: A New House
@secretfire I never played on Firan so I can't help you there. In this case, your character would be entirely up to you but if you left the game or idle out, it would be set to go on the roster afterward instead of being just frozen as other OCs are.
It's a big game but the advantage of starting off with a new House is we're going to have a small focus to begin with, namely just increasing the worth of the House through RP and the use of the systems in place at this time. That'll be the immediate arc, starting with nothing and building up something grand. If you want to try it, send me a PM, and I can help brainstorm/explain/etc.
Update:
Name: House Tessere
Rough History: A County that used to be a March until they were naughty approx. five centuries ago and had some territory confiscated as punishment. One does not simply thumb your nose at Tor and get away with it.
Holding: County Iriscal/Fortezza di Iriscal
Countess: Sabine Tessere (25yo)
Younger Bookish Brother: TBD
Bastard Half-Sister: TBD (serves as lady in waiting)
Parents: One recently dead, possibly poisoned. The other one is still kicking around in Iriscal growling about revenge and looking after the place while the House's best and brightest go to Arx to improve their fortunes and look into who took out dear Father or Mother. There's still room for other family, including younger siblings, cousins, and uncles and aunts who act as advisers. Non-family positions could include titled servants (a commoner with high haggling to act as a broker and Minister of Finance would be keen), crafters (they supply silk, aeterna and umbra so tailors would be foremost, but alchemists and woodworkers are possibilities too), and a knightly type in charge of protection (whee recent murder!) and p. much everything else.

Arx: A New House
I'm going to give it another go.
I'd like to start a new House on Arx but to do that I need no less than 3 other players willing to charcreate with me. These characters will need to be roster_ok if they don't work out for their original players.
Initial concept:
Name: House Tessere (barony or march undecided)
Words: "We Dare"
Sigil: A small serpent twining around a rose.
Fealty: Fidante (probably)
Focus: ICly, their income will come from the creation of luxury fabrics and fashion exports; they may have once been a military power in their region but after a long ago smack on the nose for some misbehaviour, they have shifted to a more economic and social game. Economic/social focus, but their proximity to the Oathlands mean that chivalric/knightly concepts aren't uncommon either. OOCly, I would like to focus on a heavy political game, social maneuvering, and a longer term plan to grow the House from smaller to formidable while exploring the tasty Lycene/Oathlands hybridization.I'ma be looking to create the Baroness or Marquessa. Family, ranked staff and allies are all totally open. If you'd like to brainstorm, ping me. I want to do this right so it won't be happening overnight (it's going to require staff approval once all of the pieces are in place) but this is the starting point. Let's do this thing!

RE: Darkwater: The Return
This might be enough to convince me to try WoD again. Hmmm.

RE: World of Darkness -- Alternative Settings
It was here: Interest Check: Single Sphere VtR Game
But @vanderlylle had life come up on her and then so did I, so we never made it past making a pretty wiki and writing a ton of news files, NPCs, and the like.
I misplaced the wiki link though.

RE: World of Darkness -- Alternative Settings
Supernatural critters rounded up and shot to the moon or Mars to lay the foundation of a colonial mining/energy gathering operation.
The political focus Vampires in Paris after a large scale destruction of the Praxis idea that @vanderlylle and I were working on.
A dynastic generational game (can be vamp or werewolf) through the Dark Ages into the Renaissance with a focus on dynastic houses or packs over individuals.
Changelings in WWI-WWII Russia.
A game set in Arcadia. Players come in as freshly snatched and their arc is transformation -> destruction (or resurrection). They win by succeeding at an eventual escape attempt and that character shifts off the board.

RE: PBs You Haven't Had a Chance to Use
@surreality Your first is a poet and model named Segovia Amil. She was my Mekhet elder on F&L.
Some of my current unused PBs: Jane Lynch, Sarah Gadon, Hannah John-Kamen, Caity Lotz, and Phildel.

RE: Code systems that make it easier to get on with the business of roleplaying
RfK's off-camera social actions system which included rumours, territory stats and +downtime units. It allowed socially statted characters to build influence and manipulate events within and outside of their territory, and to whittle away or buttress support for foes, allies, and themselves. It was the first time on a game that I felt my social character could go toe to toe with combat monsters (in a non-combat situation) and come out ahead.

RE: Characters You Enjoyed Playing
@pyrephox Aww, Thomas.
He's still the sneaky, broken yardstick I measure all other Changeling characters against.

RE: Characters You Enjoyed Playing
Nora@RfK. She was a middle-aged perfumier whose fifteen minutes of fame had come and gone. Then she was dragged screaming into the ghoul life as an unwilling servant of a vampire, passed around to a few others before suffering a violent death and a postmortem Embrace. That's when the real fun happened. At slightly less than a year old, she managed to scheme well enough to land total leadership of her clan, wrangle up the appointment of 90% of the city's vampiric leadership (both clan and covenant leaders, and all of the harpies) and had pull enough even as a neonate that when the Prince and his lackies conspired to try to wipe her off of the map, half of the city rose to protect her and protest them moving on her. She got her man, quietly destroyed the careers of several big power players, and would have won the game if it hadn't been for corrupt staffers protecting their RL friends from their inevitable doom. All at an age in which most vampires are still considered a baby.
I like to picture her and Cai in some sleepy, idyllic backwater leading their own happy little blood cult and being horrible to everyone but each other.
Nox@XmenRevolution. Shadow-based mutant who, due to some experience with betrayal, kidnapping and being a lab experiment, had become a complete monster underneath the mild mannered exterior. She knew she was a monster and overcompensated for it by trying to be as June Cleaver as possible to everyone she knew. Eventually she snapped, murdered a cop responsible for an underground (non-consensual) mutant fight club, and lost everything she held dear (including her remaining sanity). She ended up working for the enemy, helping a government agency develop a mutant "cure" and acting as the spokesperson for their storefront company under an assumed name. Her story was a huge tragedy and I've never played anything as beautifully depressing before or since.

RE: Celebrities that are Dead To Us
@ganymede I do not think Franken is in the same pool as Cosby or Trump, and I haven't seen anyone else say that in this thread. It is also true that accepting responsibility and whatever consequences come is a mark of character that I feel puts Franken well above Cosby or Trump.
That said...
He did it. He felt that this was alright to do, he did it, and his accepting responsibility did not come about until it broke as national news. He's still heavily tarnished, and I will not fault anyone for being more affected by the allegations made against Franken (as compared to, say, Trump) because he held more esteem in their eyes and therefore this comes as more of a shock. It affected me more, personally, because I had more respect for him and some of that respect was absolutely misplaced.
They don't have to be the same levels of wrongdoing for people to feel like gagging and backing away quickly from any of those who've had these stories come out.

RE: Celebrities that are Dead To Us
Franken and Takei just about did it for me. If it's ever revealed that Tom Hanks groped someone's ass, I'm out.
