Also if you are going human and don't want to be forced to be a ghoul. Set your play style accordingly. It isn't exactly a consent game, so you can be forced into ghouldom.

It's HARD to impossible to get a one-on-one PC vamp/ghoul relationship on this game. It's like getting finding a unicorn, even if you are a kick ass player. I don't want you going on thinking it will be easy to do. It's a great game, but if you don't want to share with other PC ghouls then I would suggest making a vampire OR having one app in with you. This is one of the negatives if that's what you are looking for.
Wait... I can wear a bear suit and hit people?! Sweeeet! Let's go. You come along. Also you drive. I'll stock up on water. We can sell it for $$$
@RDC
I totally agree, but I also know that it is hard for the ST. They have to try and incorporate everyone. When there is a huge power gap, it's hard to do. It's also on the other hand not fun to always be excluded because you are a high power level. I have run things and been like hey this is power level low, mid or high. Please do not come if you are high to a low level one (haha high). Please understand you may die if you come to a high level one and you are a low level. Proceed.
As to being the STAR. I don't actually care if I'm the star of the show. I play mortals because I like the support role. I like my influence to be in the shadows. You know if you are the star, you have to take the fall when it goes bad. Just saying. However, I don't like to sit around and use my skills just to be told: Oh you are at a -12 for all these things because they are so strong. Sorry, I had to account for the twinked out Immortal in the group. -- It's like why did you personally invite me then? To be the audience for them? Two thumbs up, okay, they weren't really thumbs.
To be fair, I'm old and kinda always wanted to go to Burning Man. I haven't. I sort of want to. Except, I like comfy mattresses and really love my showers. Oh, and I don't do drugs. Yet, there is part of me that really wants to hang out and watch the subculture.
Annoyance of the moment: Me.
Why am I reading this thread and eating leftovers when I should be in bed? I should be old enough for healthy habits.
You people make resisting the downvote so hard. SO HARD.
Okay, one small annoyance with min/maxers: Going into TPs with them.
As I don't min/max when I go with one, I feel like I'm just wasting my time. The 'monster' is too strong because it has to be a challenge for them. They do all the things because they are maxed out while the rest of us just sit around. That one annoys me a bit.
I actually don't care. Sometimes I wish I had the attention span to do it too. Sadly, that's just too much work and too much of that evil math stuff. I don't care about combat so much as social stuff annoys me. Like don't spend the scene insulting me and then roll 20 dice to make my char be your best friend.
I have been known to make an alt and not tell anyone who I am. However, I have tells just like everyone else. So if they message me and go: ZOMG, are you... --- Then I sigh a bit and respond that I am, but hey keep it between us. I don't want to lie OOC about a game. That's just annoying to me. However, sometimes I like an unknown alt so that people don't page me about the other characters. I should state that I don't do this when I staff. However, I can understand how a staff member could want one alt that was not known.
I don't think in most cases this is to be shady. I just think that staff want downtime too. It's hard to play where you staff because people page your known alts. Or they say well you were logged onto X, why couldn't you be doing my jobs, etc? When all the staffer wanted was a break to play the game and not look at staff. I think it's a bit strange that because someone volunteers to help run your fun time that people feel they are entitled to their time. It's a job to staff. Your RL job you have days off, they need it on a game too. Now I think this alt should be a mortal and without power and influence of course. Sort of like a support character to the storyline, but not the main character.
When it comes to Skype/FB/Whatever - this actually weirds me out. I know I'm probably a minority in this but I don't want random people in my real life. I don't even like to share my real life with people IN my real life. I'm shockingly a private person by nature, so I get a little off put by people asking for my information. I think it's okay to be like: Hey I'm JonBob2 on Skype if you ever want to add me. But not: What is your Skype, I want to add you.
You are so old! Before online training? Tell me of your old days, were there dinosaurs?
I kid, I probably beat you at being old.
However, people tell other people online that they are ninjas and they mean it seriously? I mean I've said I'm a ninja, but it's right after I listed the things I tripped over during the day. Does that still count? #ninja?
I'm going to admit this. I have no clue what Nightvale is.
I would be more down with the mortal+ over mage.
Crime is hard. It is completely fun but it is hard. There is risk. Your character may die. It might not be a blaze of glory but a whimper of discontent. I played in the crime sphere before on many games. The last attempt went like this:
My PC came on scene and made promises they were not at liberty to promise. They went to all the PC 'bosses' and asked for them to work together. If they said no, the PC then went to all their lackeys and recruited them over to their team. They just cut the feet out from under the main bosses and waited. There was a great dynamic on who was going to end up on top and the 'lackeys' had fun being bribed back and forth.
When it comes to law both have to have an RP blind eye. When law arrests NPCs that are in the area of crime, crime needs to be like dumb criminal. Shouldn't have gotten caught. Let him rot. He's dead to us or such. When crime does it, law has to be like, fuck if I know what happened. There are real life cold case files that were never solved from minor theft to murder. So it takes hand in hand co-operation. At the end of the day, it should be about enjoyment. Sometimes you take a hit. Sometimes you take a retcon. Sometimes you win. It's all about fun for people and such.
I try do to all the things. Try. I told myself I was going to try and pick up crochet this year. We shall see.
Why does it seem that female staffers have it out for female players/characters? They missed the GIRL POWER and all that? Besides I'm not trying to RL start anything with anyone. Hell, I feel bad for the one time I stole someone IC because I didn't know OOC. Ah well. Okay. I find some days she's great and others she's less than great, but good to know it's not just me.
Mini games?!
So this is how Shang started.
I kid. I kid!
Why would you want to ignore Petra? Or should I not ask?
Well, we know what you are doing today then. Or just list them here.
I've played so many characters, it is hard to remember all of them.
